Matt Riddle Life

Matthew Fredrick Riddle (born January 14, 1986) is an American professional wrestler and mixed martial artist, best known by the ring name Matt Riddle.

He has joined WWE, where he appears on the NXT brand.

He appeared at the Monster Factory before his debut.

Riddle, a professional MMA fighter from 2008 to 2014, made a name for himself by appearing on SpikeTV's The Ultimate Fighter 7's seven-fight winning streak before being suspended in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in February 2013.

He has also competed for Bellator MMA and Titan FC, and he has a record of 8-3-2. Riddle began training in 2014 for a career in professional wrestling, making his debut in February 2015.

He was named as the year's best wrestler and Most Improved wrestler of the year by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter in 2016.

Riddle competed for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla in California, The World Wrestling Network, Evolve on a regular basis, and several other smaller markets between 2015 and 2018.

Riddle was one-half of the World Tag Team Champions with partner Jeff Cobb (as The Chozen Bros), as well as a former Evolve champion, WWN champion, and two-time Progress Atlas champion.

Early life

Matthew Fredrick Riddle was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on January 14, 1986. He later moved to Saratoga Springs, New York, where he attended Saratoga Springs High School and was a state wrestling champion in 2004. Jon Jones, the future UFC champion, was pinned during his high school career. He later attended East Stroudsburg University, where he was a member of the team for two years and gained numerous championships. Riddle lost his wrestling scholarship and began his MMA training after his head coach was fired and began his transition into MMA.

Personal life

In 2011, Riddle married Lisa Rennie. They have two fraternal twin daughters and a son. Rennie and Rennie divorced on October 11, 2021, and Rennie accused Riddle of walking out of their family's house in an Instagram post. In March 2022, Riddle and Rennie were divorced.

Riddle was accused of sexually assaulting female independent wrestler Candy Cartwright in the summer of 2020. Cartwright claims that Riddle begged him to have sex with him after an independent show in May 2018, and when Riddle refused Riddle's offer, she says Riddle choked her and coerced her to give him oral sex. WWE released a statement claiming they were investigating the incident; Riddle denied it straight away in a video posted to his Twitter page. Riddle claimed he had an affair with Cartwright, but their sexual relations were purely consensual.

Riddle later applied for a restraining order against Cartwright, alleging that she harassed, stalked, and threatened his life both in person and online. Riddle's petition for a restraining order was denied in September 2020. Cartwright filed a lawsuit against Riddle, WWE, and Evolve president Gabe Sapolsky after the incident on October 8, 2020. The court dismissed WWE and Sapolsky as defendants in the lawsuit in March 2021, saying that their connection to the allegations could not be established. Cartwright dropped the case on July 13, 2021.
