Charlotte Flair Career

Professional wrestling career

Flair made her first appearances in professional wrestling at the age of 14, notably as Ashley Flair against Vince Russo and her half-brother David. Flair appeared in a vignette on Monday's May 15 episode in which Russo, David, and Daffney invaded the Flair family home before being confronted by Flair, her mother Beth, and her brother Reid. Flair was on the ringside for a retirement match between Ric and David at The Great American Bash on June 11, 2016. She and her brother Reid assaulted him and handcuffed him after Russo attempted to interfere in the game on David's behalf, allowing their father to defeat David. On the evening's episode of Nitro, David and Russo met Ric in a handicap match against the Flair family once more at ringside. Flair attempted to interfere on her father's behalf but was foiled by R&B Security, Russo's henchmen, who allowed David and Russo to defyster Ric and partially shave his head.

She signed a developmental deal with WWE and trained under Lodi in North Carolina before joining NXT, the WWE developmental territory in Tampa, Florida, on May 17, 2012. Sara Del Rey was one of her trainers in NXT. Fliehr opted for Charlotte on her first televised singles match on July 17, 2013, where she defeated Bayley in a match. Charlotte formed a tag team with Bayley in late 2013, and the two defeated Aksana and Alicia Fox on NXT's September 4 episode. Bayley helped Charlotte to a match against Santana Garrett, which she won, but the BFFs—Beautiful, Fierce Females (Sasha Banks and Summer Rae) accompanied them to the ring and pleaded for their admission, much to Charlotte's annoyance.

Charlotte assaulted Bayley and joined the BFF on November 13th, establishing herself as a loser in the process. Charlotte returned from a two-month absence due to a legitimate absence due to a legitimate injury on January 22, 2014, and began accompanying Rae and Banks to their matches. During an interview with Renee Young in February, Charlotte confronted and challenged NXT Women's Champion Paige. Charlotte and Banks feuded with Bayley, who formed an alliance with Natalya, who defeated Charlotte by disqualification after Banks intervened on the March 27 episode of NXT, following Rae's promotion to WWE's main roster. She appeared alongside Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss in Triple H's entry against Daniel Bryan on April 6 in WrestleMania XXX's match against Daniel Bryan. On the evening of NXT's April 24 episode, Charlotte and Banks defeated Emma and Paige, with Charlotte scoring the pinfall over Paige.

Charlotte won the NXT Women's Championship for the first time in her career last month, defeating Emma in the first round, Alexa Bliss in the semi-finals and Natalya in the finals at TakeOver on May 29 for the first time in her career, her first appearance in WWE. Summer Rae returned to NXT on June 6, distracting Bayley and allowing Charlotte to beat her, the BFFs attempted to threaten Bayley but they were chased away by Emma and the returning Paige. On the June 12 episode of NXT, the altercation resulted in a six-woman tag team match, which the BFFs lost after Bayley pinned Charlotte. Charlotte had a measure of revenge over Bayley in a tag team match on July 3, where she and Sasha Banks defeated Bayley and Becky Lynch. Charlotte left Banks to be battered by Bayley, with Banks officially disbanding the BFFs in a backstage segment later that night.

Charlotte held the women's championship over against Summer Rae on July 24 of NXT. Charlotte went on to keep Bayley at TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way on September 11, after which she blocked Banks from attacking Bayley later in the game, she lifted Bayley's arm before they shared a hug and shook hands, turning Charlotte back to a fan favorite character from the start of NXT's autumn 2 episode. Charlotte and Bayley feuded with Banks and her partner Becky Lynch during the coming weeks. On December 8, Charlotte made her first appearance on WWE's main roster on the Slammy Awards special episode of Raw, where she lost to Natalya in a non-title match. Charlotte retained the NXT Women's Championship against Banks at Takeover: R Evolution on December 11, and in rematches that took place on the December 25 and the January 21, 2015 episodes of NXT, respectively. Charlotte lost the championship to Banks on February 11, a two-way match that also involved Bayley and Becky Lynch, which brought her to an end at 258 days. She failed to regain the title in a rematch against Banks that took place on the NXT's March 4 episode.

Charlotte and Dana Brooke were unstoppable at TakeOver: Unstoppable on May 20, 2018, when Charlotte partnered with Bayley to defeat Emma and Dana Brooke. Charlotte challenged Banks to a NXT Women's Championship match after losing Emma and Brooke on the July 8 episode of NXT, this time partnering with her rival Sasha Banks. The two teams met in the NXT championship match on July 15, which Banks retained the title, but the two hugged Charlotte as a sign of respect.

Stephanie McMahon called for a "revolution" in the Divas division on July 13, 2015, before naming Charlotte, Becky Lynch, and Sasha Banks as members of the main roster. Charlotte and Lynch, who were involved in a feud with Team Bella (Alicia Fox and The Bella Twins), were allies of Paige, while banks allied with Tamina and Naomi, sparking a rivalry between the three teams. Since the first name initials of each wrestler, the trio of Charlotte, Lynch, and Paige was dubbed Team PCB. Charlotte defeated Banks and Brie Bella in a triple threat match at Battleground on July 19 in her WWE pay-per-view debut. On August 23 in a three team elimination match that Charlotte's team won after Lynch pinned Brie Bella.

Charlotte defied fellow Team PCB members' records in the first ever Divas Beat the Clock competition, defeating Nikki Bella's Divas Championship on August 31. Charlotte could stop Bella from defeating AJ Lee's record and becoming the longest-reigning Divas Champion after she was first announced for Night of Champions on September 14th. Charlotte took the match by disqualification after they pinned Brie due to the twins' relocations, causing Nikki to keep her title and smash the record in the process. Charlotte defeated Nikki in a rematch for the first time on September 20 at Night of Champions. Paige cut a worked shoot promo and turned on her and Lynch, berating them and the Divas division during Charlotte's Nuisance Night on Raw. Paige acted as if she wanted to reconcile with Lynch and Charlotte but then tried to harm them all and solidify her departure from the team the night after Charlotte retained her championship over Nikki Bella in a Cell on October 25. Charlotte retained her title against Paige on three occasions, including at Survivor Series on November 22, in a rematch on Raw and at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 13.

Charlotte began flaunting her friend Becky Lynch by feigning a leg injury in November and her father's distraction. Charlotte and Lynch's friendship continued to deteriorate throughout December, and Charlotte, who lost to her on January 4, 2016, threwered Lynch and solidified her villainous performance in the process for the first time since 2014 in NXT. Charlotte fought Lynch in the Divas Championship against Lynch with help from her father three days later on SmackDown and Royal Rumble on January 24. Brie Bella was crowned in February at Fastlane in February, where Charlotte retained her crown after losing in a non-title match. Charlotte retained the title against Natalya just a few weeks after, on March 12 at Roadblock. Charlotte also caused a number one contender's match between Lynch and Banks to end in a no contest in March after she criticized both candidates. As a result, a triple threat match between Charlotte, Banks, and Lynch for the Divas Championship was called for WrestleMania 32. A new WWE Women's Championship was introduced at the Divas Championship and Charlotte defeated Banks and Lynch to become the inaugural champion at the event on April 3.

Charlotte, who became CharlotteMania 32, began a feud with Natalya, winning the title against her on the April 11, 2016 episode of Raw. Despite Charlotte's rejection of the Montreal Screwjob, a rematch took place at Payback on May 1 where she stunned Natalya in the sharpshooter after referee Charles Robinson ended the game as Charlotte held Natalya in the sharpshooter. Both Natalya and Bret Hart, who were in Natalya's corner, used the Sharpshooter on Charlotte and Ric Flair after the game. Charlotte retained her title against Natalya in a submission match after Dana Brooke's dressing as Flair was a failure. Charlotte turned on her father by claiming she no longer needed him the following night, further aligning herself with Brooke, who would be dubbed as her protege. Charlotte and Brooke defeated Natalya and Lynch in a tag team match at Money in the Bank on June 19. Charlotte retained her status over Paige with the support of Brooke, with the two teams vying for Paige after the match, with Banks saving the money. The following week, Banks and Paige defeated the Banks and Paige in a tag team match, which culminated in a tag team tournament. Banks and the debuting Bayley defeated Charlotte and Brooke on July 24 at Battleground, Charlotte and Brooke.

Charlotte defeated Banks in a rematch for the title on August 21 in which Flair was victorious, with Flair becoming the two-time champion. Charlotte retained the title (which had been renamed Raw Women's Championship after the naming of the SmackDown Women's Championship) in a triple threat match against Banks and Bayley on September 25, but Charlotte retained the battle for Champions. On December 18, a 30-minute iron man match between the two teams was scheduled for Roadblock: End of the Line, but Flair defeated Banks 3–2 in sudden death overtime, becoming the first Raw Women's Champion since it was agreed that banks could not invoke her rematch clause after that time. Flair began a feud with Bayley, who saw her win in two non-title matches after her main roster debut in August. This culminated in a title match between the two teams that took place at the Royal Rumble on January 29, 2017, where Flair successfully retained the title over Bayley.

On the main event of Raw, Flair on February 13, the title was lost to Bayley. She lost the title in a rematch against Bayley at Fastlane on March 5, marking her first pay-per-view singles match defeat after 16 singles victories. Flair also started her relationship with Brooke in March and defeated her in a singles match. Flair defeated Bayley, Banks, and Nia Jax in a four-way elimination match on April 2, with Nia Jax being the last woman disqualified by eventual champion Bayley. Flair was defeated by Jax in her final fight for the brand on April 10 in her last match for the brand.

Flair was branded as part of the Superstar Shake-up on April 11, 2017. She defeated SmackDown Women's Champion Naomi in a non-title match, resulting in a no-contest after The Welcoming Committee (Natalya, Carmella, and Tamina) attacked both contestants this week. Flair was the first woman in WWE history to participate in the main events of Raw, SmackDown, and a WWE pay-per-view. Flair allied with Becky Lynch and Naomi against the Welcoming Committee in May, showing that the process is still in the works. Welcoming Committee defeated Flair, Naomi, and Lynch in a six-woman tag team match on May 21, the latter of Natalya's sharpshooter, which attracted backlash. Flair competed at Money in the Bank as part of the first ever women's money match in the bank ladder competition, which was dominated by Carmella. Flair was defeated by eventual winner Natalya at Battleground on July 23, but was the last woman eliminated by eventual champion Natalya.

Flair returned to SmackDown on September 19, thanking the WWE Universe for her family's help. Flair was on a leave to help her father with his legit health issues. She fought in a close four-way match later that night to become the SmackDown Women's Championship's top contender. Natalya won her title over Flair when she struck her with a steel chair at Hell in a Cell on October 8, triggering a disqualification win for Flair. Flair defeated Natalya in a rematch to win the Divas, NXT, Raw, and SmackDown Women's Championship on November 14 in a rematch. Flair defeated Natalya in an interbrand champion versus the Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss at Survivor Series on November 19, which Flair won. Flair retained the title against Natalya in a lumberjack competition a month later, at Battle of Champions on December 17.

Flair has joined Becky Lynch and Naomi in a feud with the debuting Riott Squad (Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Sarah Logan) shortly after their debut. Flair defeated Ruby Riott to hold the SmackDown Women's Championship on March 11, 2018, and Royal Rumble champion Asuka was subsequently questioned. Flair defeated WrestleMania 34 on April 8 by forcing Asuka to submit, snapping the challenger's undefeated streak of 914 days in the process. The IIconics (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay) attacked Flair two days later on the SmackDown episode on April 10 (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay) launched Flair two days later. Flair competed in the women's Royal Rumble match, killing five women before being ruled out by Becky Lynch at Royal Rumble on January 27, 2017. Lynch received a championship match against Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35. Vince McMahon (kayfabe) suspended Lynch for 60 days in February but then replaced her with Flair. Lynch was soon returned to action, and she defeated Flair by disqualification on March 10, giving her the title match in WrestleMania a triple threat match. Flair defeated Asuka for the third time just a few days before WrestleMania on March 26, becoming the first woman in WWE history to win eight women's championships. Flair lost her title in a Winner Takes All match for both her SmackDown and Ronda Rousey's Raw Women's Championships on April 7, the first time a women main evented a WrestleMania event.

Flair continued her feud with Lynch over the SmackDown Women's Championship shortly after WrestleMania, claiming she had not been disqualified at WrestleMania. She won a rematch by defeating Bayley and at Money in the Bank on May 19, regaining the crown after Lacey Evans' interference. The two players continued to hurt Lynch until Bayley made the save. Bayley, who had won the Money in the Bank contract earlier in the night, hit Flair and ended her reign in just 4 minutes and 52 seconds, the shortest for the category respectively. Lynch spent her money in the bank on protecting her Raw crown, putting an end to the two's nearly year rivalry.

Flair returned to SmackDown on July 16 after a brief hiatus. A week later, she called herself "the best female superstar of all time" and launched a short storyline with WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. Flair defeated Stratus by submission in the latter's second retirement match at SummerSlam on August 11. Flair argued that she deserving a shot at the SmackDown Women's Championship after winning, and she and Bayley reignited their feud. Bayley retained against Flair after she used an exposed turnbuckle on September 15, during Clash of Champions. Flair earned her second title after forcing Bayley to submit during a tag team match. Flair defeated Bayley 1-0 to win her fifth SmackDown Women's Championship on WWE's main roster, her tenth women's championship on WWE's main roster. Flair lost the championship to Bayley five days later.

Flair was created to the Raw brand as part of the 2019 version. On November 24, Team Raw and Team Smackdown lost to Team NXT after Asuka spit green mist in Flair's face, prompting Flair to be stifled by Lacey Evans. Kairi Sane, her tag team partner, was on Raw, Flair's aide to Asuka the next night. In a TLC match at the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 15, Flair then joined forces with Becky Lynch to face the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship in a TLC match, but the two teams were dissatisfied.

Flair won the annual Royal Rumble match by lastly destroying Shayna Baszler on January 26, 2020 at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. After weeks of teasing an announcement regarding her championship challenge at WrestleMania 36, there have been several clashes with NXT Women's Champion Rhea Ripley on Raw and NXT. Flair vs. Ripley on February 16, 2016 at TakeOver: The women was ridiculed by Flair at TakeOver: Portland. She accepted her challenge. Nia Jax had her arm fracture in late June and she was stabbed in late June. This was done to get Flair off television, so she might take some time off to do more breast implants surgery.

Flair returned to Asuka on December 20, as the surprise tag team partner of Asuka, with whom she defeated Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, according to TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. Flair became the fifth Women's Triple Crown Champion and fourth Women's Grand Slam champion with the win. On the December 25 episode of SmackDown, Flair and Asuka successfully defended their respective titles in a triple threat tag team match. Flair and her father, Ric Flair, have fought for decades before she began to interfere in her matches, starting with Lacey Evans and her mother, Ric Flair. Due to interference from Flair and Evans, Asuka's tag team titles will be recalled to Jax and Baszler at the Royal Rumble on January 31, 2007. Flair defeated Peyton Royce and Peyton Royce in the Women's Royal Rumble game on the night, before being eliminated by both Rhea Ripley and eventual champion Bianca Belair.

The Raw Women's Championship match between Lacey Evans and Asuka at Elimination Chamber on February 15 was postponed after Lacey Evans revealed she was legally pregnant. Flair's father had to leave because she couldn't concentrate on her matches on February 22, marking the end of their storyline. Flair expressed her intention to challenge Asuka for the Raw Women's Championship at WrestleMania 37, but she was disqualified from the WrestleMania title picture due to a Flair testing positive for COVID-19.

Flair was back on the original version of Raw on April 12 and was able to assist in the Raw Women's Championship match between Asuka and Rhea Ripley later that night, turning heel in the process. After losing to Asuka in a singles match, she was suspended (in kayfabe) and fined $100,000 for assaulting a referee. Sonya Deville's suspension will be lifted on the April 26 edition of Raw. Charlotte will also compete in several other events over the next three pay-per-views, including a triple threat match against Asuka and Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania Backlash on May 16 and at Hell in a Cell on June 20, which she lost by submission, but she gained another opportunity at Money in the Bank on July 18, making her a new record-tying five-time Raw Women's Champion. Flair lost the title on Raw to Nikki A.S.H., who lost her money in the Bank briefcase, while Flair regained the title at SummerSlam on August 21, despite Ripley's involvement. On September 26, she successfully defended the championship against Alexa Bliss at Extreme Rules.

Flair was drafted to SmackDown as the Raw Women's Champion as a member of the 2021 Draft. Flair, Flair, and Lynch exchanged their titles on October 22, making Flair the SmackDown Women's Champion for the sixth time. It was then revealed that Flair would face Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch at the Survivor Series on November 21, where Lynch was defeated by Lynch. On January 29, 2022, she entered the Women's Royal Rumble match, becoming the first woman to be disqualified by Ronda Rousey. On the second night of the tournament, Flair retained the title against Rousey, snaping her undefeated singles streak. Flair lost to Rousey in an "I Quit" match, during which she broke her left arm, causing her to lose her left arm. Flair took time off to marry her now husband Andrade after the wedding.
