The entire Raw roster was rated for "dropping the ball" and struggling to win at the pay-per-view the following night. Kevin Owens, who assaulted Rollins and challenged him to a match, disqualified Owens after AOP (Akam and Rezar) attacked Owens later that week. Despite earlier denying an alliance with AOP, Rollins joined them by attacking Owens for the first time since 2016.

Rollins began calling himself the "Monday Night Messiah" after complaining that he was "sacrificing" his opponents for "the greater good" after this. He formed a faction with AOP and Buddy Murphy, and the group targeted Rey Mysterio, Kevin Owens, and Samoa Joe over the next weeks. On the January 20, 2020 episode of Raw, Rollins and Murphy defeated The Vikings to win the Raw Tag Team Championship, becoming a record six-time champion. On January 26, Rollins qualified as the final entrant in the Royal Rumble tournament, but eventual winner Drew McIntyre was disqualified. On February 27, Rollins and Murphy retained their titles against The Street Profits at Super ShowDown, but lost the titles to them on Raw's March 2 episode. At Elimination Chamber six days later, Rollins and Murphy failed to regain the title from the Street Profits Club. Rollins defeated Kevin Owens in a No Disqualification match that he lost at WrestleMania 36 on April 4, which he lost.

The Rollins then began a feud with Drew McIntyre over the WWE Championship, resulting in a match between the two teams at Money in the Bank on May 10, which Rollins lost. Rollins assaulted Rey Mysterio and injured his eye with the steel ring steps on Raw next night. Rollins recruited Austin Theory as a member of his group on May 18's Raw. Mysterio's resumed and confronted Rollins to an Eye for an Eye match in which the only way to win was to remove the opponent's eyeballs. On July 19, Rollins defeated after using the ring steps to remove Mysterio's eye. Dominik, Rey Mysterio's son, confronted Rollins about the assaults against him and his father over the course of weeks. Rollins defeated Dominik in a Street Fight at SummerSlam on August 23, which was the start of the season. Rollins and Murphy faced Rey and Dominik Mysterio at Payback the next night on Raw. On Payback Day, Rollins and Murphy lost to Rey and Dominik.

Murphy stabbed Rollins after he refused to apologize to him on the October 5 episode of Raw, effectively ending their friendship. Rollins was submitted to the SmackDown brand as part of the 2020 WWE draft in October. Rollins was defeated by Murphy on November 20 of SmackDown's November 20 episode, putting an end to the feud. Rollins competed in the Survivor Series two days later as part of Team SmackDown, but he was the first person to be disqualified by Sheamus after "sacrificing" himself; his team then lost the game. Rollins will go on paternity leave for the birth of his first child following this.

Rollins returned to the Royal Rumble on January 31, 2021, at #29 and lasting until the final three before being disqualified by eventual winner Edge. Rollins made his return to SmackDown on February 12th, securing a film about him as the boss of SmackDown and that the SmackDown crew had to "embrace the vision," which caused the locker room to leave. Rollins later attacked Cesaro, the only one who stayed behind, beginning a feud with him. On March 21, Rollins defeated Cesaro's former tag team partner, Shinsuke Nakamura. Cesaro was then defeated by the Rollins to a match at WrestleMania 37, which Cesaro accepted. On the first night of the festival on April 10, Rollins lost to Cesaro.

They met each other in a WrestleMania rematch on May 7 in SmackDown, which Rollins lost. Rollins made a stop-motion demonstration against Cesaro on May 16, a steel chair at WrestleMania. On June 20, Rollins won a battle in a Cell for Hell in a Cell. Rollins defeated Cesaro once more in a mixed tag team match involving Bayley and Bianca Belair on the following episode of SmackDown. Rollins qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder competition at the titular event this week, putting an end to their feud in the process. Rollins was unlucky in winning the lottery at Money in the Bank on July 18, although Big E had a hand in the match.

Rollins interfered in the main event where Roman Reigns was defending the Universal Championship against Edge, distracting the referee from costing Edge the game. Rollins and Edge continued to debate and mock each other over the coming weeks until Edge's SmackDown episode on August 6, where Edge would face Rollins to a match at SummerSlam, which Rollins accepted. Edge defeated Rollins by submission at the August 21 game. On the September 10 episode of SmackDown, Rollins defeated Rosie, who emerged victorious. Rollins was introduced to the Raw brand as part of the 2021 Draft. Edge demanded a Hell in a Cell match between them on October 8, which was made official for Crown Jewel. Rollins was defeated at the event on October 21, despite being unable to attend. On November 21, Rollins participated in a five-on-five elimination match on Team Raw and emerged as the sole survivor after eliminating Jeff Hardy.

Rollins defeated Finn Bálor, Kevin Owens, and Rey Mysterio in a crucial four-way ladder match on Day 1 pay-per-view, becoming the top contender for the WWE Championship against Big E. Kevin Owens and Bobby Lashley were both added to the WWE Championship match on Day 1, making it a fatal four-way match. Rollins was unsuccessful in capturing the title on Day 1 on January 1, 2022, when Brock Lesnar was brought to the match and captured the trophy. He started working as Seth "Freakin" Rollins in the month. Rollins lost the match by disqualification but not the title at the Royal Rumble on January 29, defeating SmackDown's Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. Rollins then attempted to find a spot on the WrestleMania 38, until Mr. McMahon revealed that Rollins will face a character of his choosing on the March 28 episode of Raw. Rollins' opponent was unveiled on the first night of the festival on April 2, Cody Rhodes, who defeated Rollins.

At WrestleMania Backlash, Rollins will face Rhodes in a rematch at WrestleMania Backlash, which Rhodes accepted. Rollins lost to Rhodes for the second time at the event on May 8. During his match for the United States Championship against Theory, Rollins assaulted and laid out Rhodes. Rhodes challenged Rollins to a match in a Cell, which Rollins accepted within the namesake system. Rollins lost to Rhodes for the third time in a highly regarded match on June 5th. The match received a 5-star rating from respected wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, making it the first WWE main roster match to receive a 5-star rating since 2011, as well as the first match of Rollins' career to receive such a high rating. Rollins qualified for the titular match at Money in the Bank on June 13 on Raw's episode. Rollins failed to win the briefcase at the end of July 2nd, when the game was won by Theory.

Rollins will begin pounding Matt Riddle over the next two weeks before a match was called between them at SummerSlam. However, the match was postponed due to Riddle's injury after a rollins attack on July 25, however, the game was postponed. Despite this, Rollins and Riddle were both on display at SummerSlam on July 30, competing in a brawl that culminated in Rollins coming out on top. The match between the two teams took place at Clash at the Castle on September 3, where Rollins defeated Riddle. Rollins and Riddle will continue to fight each other over the next two weeks until it was announced on Raw's September 19 episode that they would face Extreme Rules. Rollins lost by submission at the event on October 8.

Rollins won the United States Championship for the second time after defeating Bobby Lashley before the match, which is after the returning Brock Lesnar attacked Lashley. This made him the second individual after The Miz to win the WWE Grand Slam Championship twice. Rollins defended Raw in the battle against Riddle this week, bringing an end to the feud.
