Ted DiBiase Life

Theodore Marvin DiBiase Sr. (born January 18, 1954) is an American former professional wrestler, coach, ordained minister, and color commentator.

He is currently enrolled in WWE's Legends program.

DiBiase has won numerous wrestling titles, and he has accumulated thirty titles during his pro wrestling career.

He is best remembered by mainstream audiences for his time in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), where he competed as "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase.

DiBiase has been named as one of the first WWF Tag Team Champions (with Irwin R. Schyster), a three-time WWE champion and winner of the 1988 King of the Ring tournament, among other things in pro wrestling history, according to IGN.

He was a member of the WWF World Heavyweight Championships once more, but the organisation's acknowledgement of his service was withheld.

The Million Dollar Championship was also won by several other affiliated wrestlers for DiBiase.

He appeared in a number of WWF card games, including WrestleMania IV and the first-ever SummerSlam in 1988.

In addition to his sons, Ted Jr. and Brett, DiBiase addressed the 2010 WWE Hall of Fame in Boston.

Early life

Theodore Marvin Willis, a Nebraska immigrant, was born DiBiase. He is the biological son of wrestler Helen Nevins and Ted Wills, an entertainer and singer. He is the adopted son of wrestler "Iron" Mike DiBiase, who married his mother when he was 4 years old. When DiBiase was 15 years old, his adoptive father Mike died as a result of a heart attack in the ring. Harley Race, the seven-time NWA World Champions, rushed to the ring and delivered CPR, but Iron Mike's life was not able to save Iron Mike's. In reaction, his mother was depressed and alcoholism, so DiBiase was moved to Willcox, Arizona, to live with his grandparents. He attended Creighton Preparatory High School in Omaha, Nebraska, and earned a football scholarship to West Texas State University. He was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity while there. However, he later dropped out of college to begin a career in professional wrestling due to a personal injury in his senior year.

Personal life

Mike, Ted Jr., and Brett, DiBiase's sons, were all wrestlers.

DiBiase attended West Texas State University, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega.

In a 2016 interview with ESPN.com, DiBiase revealed that he and Virgil had a falling out because of Virgil's attempt to book himself and DiBiase on independent wrestling shows that were not aware of DiBiase's existence. Virgil does not advocate for bookings, according to DiBiase.

Ted DiBiase Career

Professional wrestling career

Ted DiBiase was trained by Dory Funk, Jr., and Terry Funk. He made his professional wrestling debut as a referee in the Funks' Amarillo territory in June 1974. He then went to Bill Watts, the son of Iron Mike, who was promoted to him as the son of Iron Mike in 1975, where he wrestled for four years. Danny Hodge's first match was a loss. DiBiase would unseat Dick Slater to become the Missouri State champion by February 1978, but not before losing to Dick Murdoch after a few weeks on television.

In 1979, DiBiase appeared with Vince McMahon, Sr.'s World Wrestling Federation (WWF), during the transition from being called the World Wide Wrestling Federation. He was named the first champion of the North American Championship after a short life. He lost the North American Championship to Pat Patterson, who unified the contest with the fictional "South American Championship" to become the first ever Intercontinental Champion on June 19, 1979.

In Hogan's first Madison Square Garden match, he was Hulk Hogan's adversary.

DiBiase also spent time in the Georgia area where he had an early face run. In the WTBS studio arena by The Fabulous Freebirds, one incredible shot had DiBiase suffering four piledrivers (one on the concrete floor and three others in the ring) before his tag teammate, Tommy "Wildfire" Rich, threw in the towel (the TBS studio audience could be seen yelling). Rich and DiBiase later feuded, resulting in a loser's town match that DiBiase won, but Rich was veiled wearing a mask that read "Mister R." Mister R was able to win and then unveiled as Brad Armstrong. Both DiBiase and Rich left the country soon after.

DiBiase appeared in angles in various nations fighting with the likes of Ric Flair, Bob Roop, Paul Orndorff, Dick Murdoch, The Fabulous Freebirds, and One Man Gang from the 1970s to the present. DiBiase turned down the Junkyard Dog and formed The Rat Pack, which included Jim Duggan and Matt Borne, who ruled Mid-south for months. Dibiase, who was aligned with Skandor Akbar, sparked a riff, specifically Duggan. The two teams will clash until DiBiase lost a loser leaves town match. He also won numerous titles and travelled extensively to All Japan Pro Wrestling before his unification from Mid-South Wrestling (which was then the United Wrestling Federation). Usually, his matches were decided with a "loaded" black glove, which he took from his tights to "knock out" his opponent when the referee was not looking.

DiBiase received an invitation from the WWF while trapped in 1987 negotiations with the National Wrestling Alliance. Despite the fact that he would not be told his gimmick until after he agreed, DiBiase was eventually convinced by WWF that it would be something that would get a lot of attention. Pat Patterson, a WWF official, told DiBiase that if owner Vince McMahon were to lose, it would be the gimmick that he would give himself.

In 1983, DiBiase joined All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW). In a tournament overrunning Jerry Lawler by forfeiting, he captured the NWA United National Championship on October 14, 1983. DiBiase lost the award to Michael Hayes three months later, on January 28, 1984. Helen Hild, DiBiase's mother, died two months later on March 4, 1984.

DiBiase formed a tag team with fellow gaijin Stan Hansen in August 1985, and the two became the PWF Tag Team Champions when Hansen selected DiBiase to replace Bruiser Brody, who then joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). DiBiase and Hansen participated in the 1985 World's Best Tag Determination League, finishing in first place with 7 points.

DiBiase and Hansen will lose the PWF Tag Team Championship to Jumbo Tsuruta and Tiger Mask on July 3, 1987, the end of their two-year reign as champions. DiBiase and Hansen regained the title for the second time on July 11, but the title would be stripped shortly after due to DiBiase's departure from the AJPW for the WWF.

DiBiase reformed his team with Hansen in September 1993 and rejoined AJPW. The two met The Holy Demon Army on September 3, 1993, bringing them victory as they defeated The Holy Demon Army in the World Tag Team Championship. DiBiase and Hansen's names were stripped of the title two months later, on November 13, 1993, so it could be on the line for the 1993 World's Best Tag Determination League. DiBiase will compete in the tournament, but will only wrestle one match on November 14, where he and Hansen defeated Tracey Smothers and Richard Slinger before he suffered neck and back pains, which forced him to drop out of the competition (Giant Baba ended up replacing him).

On May 15, 1987, DiBiase appeared at a house show in Houston, Texas, as a babyface. He came out to the ring to inform those in attendance that it was only fitting that he was now competing in the WWF. The One Man Gang and Slick were a few minutes later for Gang's scheduled match. Before there was a confrontation, the referee had to coerce DiBiase to leave. DiBiase will face The One Man Gang in his first match and defeat him at the next house show on June 7. To The Gang, he lost two more house show confrontations. DiBiase will tag-team with Sam Houston on June 26 against The One Man Gang and Ron Bass (Houston had to help DiBiase against The Gang in one of the early house show matches); at the end of the match, DiBiase (kayfabe) charged Houston after Houston missed a dropkick on Bass, causing him to be double-teamed and pinned. His behavior during the game turned Dibiase heel right before his new gimmick's on-screen debut.

DiBiase had his first vignette on WWF Superstars' episode on June 27. He will now be known as "The Million Dollar Man," a millionaire who wore a gold-studded, dollar-sign-covered suit, as well as a custom-made, diamond-encrusted, and self-awarded "Million Dollar Championship" belt. Vince McMahon would like to be based on the type of wrestler that Vince McMahon would like to be. He was listed as having a spring residence in Palm Beach, Florida, a summer residence in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, a fall residence in Bel Air, California, and a winter residence in the Netherlands Antilles.

Virgil, who was by his side during his matches and vignettes, was a bodyguard for DiBiase. Dusty Rhodes, who's real name was Virgil Runnels, was based on then-NWA/WCW booker Dusty Rhodes, although booker and producer Bruce Prichard disputes this. The Million Dollar Dream, DiBiase's last move, was also supposed to be a rib (inside joke) to Dusty Rhodes, who was also known as "The American Dream." Virgil was often seen doing humiliating tasks, such as rubbing DiBiase's feet. Through a series of vignettes in which he did something such as bribe the manager of a local swimming pool to close for the day so he could have the pool to himself, or if the honeymoon suite in a hotel had the couple already booked, DiBiase said, "Everybody has a price" revealing his "power." In other skits, DiBiase was seen traveling in limousines, giving $100 tips to waiters, and grocery stores were used to buy tiny items such as chewing gum. In reality, DiBiase's road travel was deliberately booked for first-class airplane flights and five-star hotel accommodations, and he was given a stipend of petty cash from the WWF Offices so he could "turn money around" in public (i.e. (e.g., choose tabs and "overtip," buy drinks for entire bars, pay for small items with a $100 bill, etc.) In order to make the character seem more realistic, the author was consulted with the following words. Other times, DiBiase has welcomed fans (including a young Rob Van Dam and a then-unknown Linda McMahon) to perform humiliating acts (such as kissing his feet) for money. During one skit, he welcomed a young boy onto a stage and told him that if he bounced a ball 15 times in a row, DiBiase would pay him $500. DiBiase threw the ball away, leaving the boy homeless; however, anyone who wasn't paid on-camera was paid off-camera, according to his autobiography; however, anyone who wasn't paid on-camera was paid off-camera. He often stuck a $100 bill into the mouth of a wrestler on whom he had used the Million Dollar Dream Move. The discarded bill will be returned by the wrestler's mouth more often than not.

On an episode of Superstars of Wrestling, Hogan's announcement that he'd purchase the WWF World Heavyweight Championship from Hulk Hogan was his first big in-ring appearance, although Hogan said that DiBiase would have to defeat him in the championship fight. Hogan won a series of matches, and a tumultuous DiBiase approached André the Giant to win the Grand Prize for him, despite the fact that Hogan beat Hogan under improvable circumstances for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. This was the match between the infamous "who is the real Dave Hebner" fiasco. Whom the crowd and viewers at home agreed was the "tru" Dave Hebner (actually his real-life twin brother Earl, who some now mistake as the original Hebner) counted the match finishing pin for André, despite the fact that Hogan's shoulder was up to one. The real Dave Hebner stepped into the ring to contest the fact that his "evil twin" had been awarded the WWF world championship to Andre the Giant; André later announced that he was giving the championship belt to DiBiase. In the ensuing days, DiBiase was billed as the WWF World Heavyweight Champion in three separate shows, defending the title against Bam Bam Bigelow one time.

However, WWF President Jack Tunney said DiBiase was not the champion, because he did not win the title by pin or submission, and that it was therefore vacant because Andre had forfeited the honor. André's world title win was still honoured, but it is also considered the shortest world championship reign in WWF history. This was an extension of an angle in old Georgia Championship Wrestling (GCW), when Larry Zbyszko paid Killer Tim Brooks $25,000 for his NWA National Heavyweight Championship in 1983.

At WrestleMania IV, a tournament was announced to crown a new WWF World Heavyweight Champion, where DiBiase defeated Hacksaw Jim Duggan in the first round and Don Muraco in the quarterfinals before receiving a bye in the tournament's semifinals. The reason for the bye was a double-elution of Hulk Hogan and André the Giant when they were disqualified in their match, with DiBiase expected to face the winner. André revealed that DiBiase paid him to ensure Hogan did not advance to the tournament in a backstage interview afterwards. In the finals, DiBiase was defeated by "Macho Man" Randy Savage, aided by Hulk Hogan's continued interference in the game. During the 1988 summer, DiBiase and Savage sparred over the WWF World Heavyweight Championship, even headlining in a tag team match pitting DiBiase and André the Giant vs. Hogan and Savage at "Where The Mega Powers Meet the Mega Bucks." Despite pro-heel commentator Jesse "The Body" Ventura's presence as the guest referee, Hogan pinned DiBiase to win the match. The 1988 King of the Ring tournament was then won by DiBiase, Ken Patera, Ron Bass, and Randy Savage, who was his first WWF victory.

As his personal slave, Bobby Heenan sold Hercules' contract to Ted DiBiase for his his work. Hercules was his slave, according to DiBiase, but after Hercules turned face, they began feuding with him. At Survivor Series, he barred Hercules from the main event.

DiBiase purchased the #30 entrance ticket from Akeem in 1989 to become the final entrant in the competition. The final two participants in the tournament were Big John Studd and DiBiase. Studd was offered a bribe to ban him from attending the contest, but Studd dismissed him, leaving Studd to win the match. The two teams continued to clash with Hercules, including a match that DiBiase won on February 3 The Main Event II. On the 11th of March 11, he defeated the Blue Blazer in the Main Event XX. He introduced the Million Dollar Championship, his first championship belt that was not recognized by the WWF. He designed this belt because he was unable to buy or win the WWF World Heavyweight Championships from Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage.

At WrestleMania V. DiBiase's next big feud was with Jake "The Snake" Roberts, DiBiase defeated Brutus Beefcake to a double-count out. On WWF Superstars of Wrestling, just weeks after WrestleMania defeated Virgil in a match. Roberts has been out of action for several months due to a neck injury, according to DiBiase. (The storyline was written so Roberts could recover from The Honky Tonk Man's guitar blow a year earlier.) Although Roberts recovered, DiBiase beat Jimmy "The Superfly" Snuka at SummerSlam by counting out. DiBiase met Hulk Hogan in a match for the WWF Championship, where DiBiase had the monster Zeus by his side on Saturday Night's Main Event XXIII. DiBiase lost the game after mistakenly hitting Zeus and being pinned by Hogan with a small box. DiBiase captained a team dubbed "Million Dollar Team" made up of himself, The Powers of Pain (The Warlord and The Barbarian), and Zeus against Hogan's "Hulkamaniacs" consisting of Hogan, Jake Roberts, and Demolition (Ax and Smash). Roberts was pinned back by Hogan after pinning him with Virgil's assistance before being pinned by him.

In 1990, he was banned for purchasing #30 in the previous year's Royal Rumble. He was compelled to enter as entrant #1 because of his parole. After being ranked as the first entrant and breaking the record by 45 minutes in the Royal Rumble match. Before being disqualified by The Ultimate Warrior, he defeated two opponents. After Warrior became the WWF Champion, Dibiase may have feared revenge on Warrior by battling him several months later in the Tokyo Dome as a co-promotional All Japan and New Japan event. He then continued his feud with Jake Roberts, who stole the Million Dollar Belt, resulting in a match at WrestleMania VI, where Roberts was counted out. He had a brief feud with Big Bossman that dated back to when DiBiase attempted to bribe Bossman into retrieving the Million Dollar Belt shortly after WrestleMania. The Million Dollar Belt was returned to Roberts after Bossman refused DiBiase's bribe and returned the Million Dollar Belt to him. DiBiase, who was the boss of Dusty Rhodes at the time, purchased Sapphire's services at SummerSlam. Rhodes and DiBiase feuding continued from 1990 to 1991. During Dusty's match against Randy Savage, Dustin Rhodes assaulted Dustin Rhodes, the son of Dusty's son. At Survivor Series, DiBiase and Dusty captained rival teams, with DiBiase's mystery companion revealing to be the debuting Undertaker. DiBiase ended up destroying both members of The Hart Foundation and being the sole survivor of the match. He was however disqualified in Hogan's main event. About Undertaker's debut, DiBiase said "nobody knew him" at the time, when they knew how this worked, and the Undertaker, who introduced The Undertaker, was assisting him. He wasn't 'The Phenom,' when he was just a new kid on the internet, but this new guy, The Undertaker, was certainly one of the best attractions the WWE has ever hosted, and of course he grew in to be one of the best shows the WWE has ever had. I wasn't a big deal to me at the time, because I was just doing my jobs." DiBiase then got a shot at the WWF champion, The Ultimate Warrior, on Saturday Night's Main Event, which culminated in DiBiase's disqualification of Warrior, which was reportedly an equivocation of Randy Savage's continued assault on Warrior. During this time, DiBiase began to experience a true-life disdain for the Warrior and would later become outspoken about it both in behind the scenes and autobiography.

Ted DiBiase and Virgil defeated Dusty and Dustin Rhodes in a tag team match at the Royal Rumble. Virgil was ordered by DiBiase to tie the Million Dollar Championship belt around his waist after the match. Instead, Virgil struck DiBiase with the belt, turning face. DiBiase lost by a count-out to Virgil, who had the assistance of 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper' during WrestleMania VII. Sensational Sherri, who had earlier in the night turned to a lost Randy Savage, came down midway in the game to assist DiBiase and became his full-time valet. DiBiase defeated Bret Hart to a double count out in Saturday Night's Main Event XXIX.

DiBiase lost the Million Dollar Championship to Virgil at SummerSlam when Virgil turned his head into an unveiled turnbuckle and pinned him to win. In the first round of the 1991 King of the Ring tournament, DiBiase competed with Ricky Steamboat in the first round. The tournament's time-limit battle between DiBiase and Steamboat will be decided by the time limit, with neither man advance in the competition. On the November 11 edition of Prime Time Wrestling, DiBiase recovered the Million Dollar Championship from Virgil with support from Repo Man. He was one of the contestants disqualified from his competition at Survivor Series. DiBiase and Repo Man defeated Virgil and Tito Santana on Tuesday in Texas.

DiBiase quietly dropped Sherri as his valet (so she could track Shawn Michaels), and officially formed the tag team Money Incorporated with Irwin R. Schyster (IRS). Between February 1992 and June 1993, the pair, mainly managed by Jimmy Hart, captured the WWF Tag Team Championship three times. Their first reign came on February 7, 1992, when they defeated The Legion of Doom for the titles. (Earthquake and Typhoon) Money Incorporated was then feud with The Natural Disasters (Earthquake and Typhoon). At WrestleMania VIII, they defended the title against the Natural Disasters and won the match by count-out, thus keeping the trophy. They lost the title to the Natural Disasters on July 20.

After losing a match to the Legion of Doom at SummerSlam, DiBiase and the IRS recovered the belts on the October 13 edition of the Natural Disasters. This name change culminated in a contest with The Nasty Boys, who were not supposed to shoot for the title at the time. They defended their titles against the Ultimate Maniacs on Saturday Night's Main Event XXI (Ultimate Warrior and Randy Savage). Both DiBiase and IRS lost the match by count out and therefore retained the names once more.

DiBiase appeared in the Royal Rumble game and finished at #4 before being disqualified by The Undertaker. DiBiase and IRS became involved in a big way shortly after, with the return of Brutus Beefcake. On one of the first episodes of Monday Night Raw, DiBiase met Beefcake. Beefcake was slammed after the match and broken his face (which had been surgically repaired after a windsailing disaster) with a briefcase. Money Inc.'s new boss, Jimmy Hart, was also dissatisfied with their conduct. Hulk Hogan, Beefcake's best friend, joined Beefcake's defense and challenged Money Inc. to a tag team title match at WrestleMania IX. After Hogan used Beefcake's protective face mask as a weapon, DiBiase and IRS retained their positions by disqualification.

The WWF's tag team division, Money Inc., dominated. They feuded with the Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott) over a string of titles. On June 14, the Steiners defeated DiBiase and IRS in a non-televised match at a Wrestling Challenge taping. At a live event on June 16, they will regained the coveted titles on June 16, but they would lose them to the Steiners three days later at another live event on June 19. DiBiase last competed for the WWF in August, bowing out after an angle that saw Razor Ramon turn face and a 1-2-3 Kid debut. The Kid had an unusual pinfall against a cocky Ramon, causing DiBiase to mock Ramon and promise to show him how it was done. He continued to lose to the Kid, eventually showing Razor a newfound love for the child and turning Razor's face. DiBiase and Ramon lost a match at SummerSlam in which DiBiase won. This was DiBiase's last television appearance in the WWF during the campaign. In a shoot interview, he said that his decision to leave the WWF at this point was motivated by a desire to address his marital issues.

He resigned from AJPW, where he won the World Tag Team Championship with Hansen, and returned to the United States after undergoing a neck injury.

As a guest commentator, DiBiase returned to the WWF at the Royal Rumble as a guest commentator. DiBiase began serving as both a commentator and administrator for the WWF. DiBiase purchased the rights of several wrestlers for his Million Dollar Corporation stable in the WWF, which also included I.R.S., Nikolai Volkoff, Kama, King Kong Bundy, Sycho Sid, 1-2-3 Kid, and Tatanka in a swerve. After the Royal Rumble in January, DiBiase regained his contact with the Undertaker. DiBiase debuted a new Undertaker under his command, claiming that he brought the Undertaker to the WWF and said he was going to bring him back. This Undertaker, on the other hand, was determined to be an impostor by Brian Lee and was eventually defeated by the nimble Undertaker at SummerSlam.

In addition, DiBiase was also in the main event of WrestleMania XI as the event's boss, against Lawrence Taylor. Members of DiBiase's firm were among Taylor's entourage of NFL All-Pros on the opposite side of the ring. After Taylor defeated Bigelow, DiBiase referred to Bigelow as an embarrassment. Bigelow was fired by DiBiase after a defeat to Diesel in a WWF Championship match. In a feud with DiBiase's officers, Bigelow aligned himself with Diesel.

DiBiase also introduced "The Ringmaster," who later became Stone Cold Steve Austin, to the WWF in January 1996. Austin became the Million Dollar Champion and began wearing DiBiase's gold belt, which was first introduced in 1989. DiBiase's last appearance with the company was at In Your House: Beware of Dog 2, where he was compelled to leave the WWF after Steve Austin was losing to Savio Vega. In reality, he left for World Championship Wrestling, a rival promotion (WCW).

DiBiase made his debut in WCW on August 26, 1996, announcing himself as the fourth member of the New World Order. Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, and Hollywood Hogan were among the New World Order's crews. DiBiase said to be funding the organisation (seemingly based on his "Million Dollar Man" WWF persona). He was jokingly referred to by the members of the group as "Billionaire Ted," referring to WWF's disparaging nickname given to WWF owner Ted Turner. Until Eric Bischoff joined the nWo and took over as the nWo's spokesperson, DiBiase was the nWo's spokesperson for three months.

After the Spring Stampede, DiBiase left the nWo right away. On the August 4, 1997, episode of Nitro, he took a face turn and started guiding the Steiner Brothers, taking them to two World Tag Team Championships. The Steiners were ruled by DiBiase until Scott Steiner's heel was returned to him by betraying Rick Steiner at SuperBrawl VIII on February 22 and joining the nWo (DiBiase remained in Rick's corner until April 1998). Ray Traylor, a one-time WWF competitor, was also in charge of DiBiase before he ceased completely managing.

"Eric Bischoff doesn't know that much about wrestling," DiBiase said about his time in WCW in 2013: "They didn't know that much about wrestling," "Eric Bischoff" was right about the nWo; they hadn't invented it; the nWo had already been done in Japan, so they copied something that had already been done." It was a good idea, but I was supposed to be the mouthpiece of the nWo, but I think Eric knew how it was going to be over and wondered how he could put himself in the position that he had hired me for. Eric isn't the announcer anymore, he becomes part of the nWo and I just told him I'm not going to walk out and be Hulk Hogan's Virgil, so if that's not what I'm going to do, send me home. The reason I referred to was because they had to pay me one way or another because I had a three-year contract with no one else.

In late 2004, WWE gave DiBiase a career as an artist. A year and a half ago, he accepted the job and spent as part of the creative team. DiBiase was recruited as a creative consultant and road agent for the SmackDown in April 2005. World Wrestling Entertainment is a brand owned by a wrestling fan. DiBiase appeared alongside other WWE celebrities in a ceremony on October 3, 2005. Rob Conway was eventually responsible for the assault, who had come down to the ring to insult the heroes.

Sensational Sherri, the former WWE chairman, was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 1, 2006, where he appeared at WrestleMania 22, allowing Eugene $1,000 to dribble a basketball 100 times backstage and kicked the ball away at the last second. When the camera went off air, DiBiase appeared on the issue of Raw behind a newspaper laughing his famous evil grin. On July 14, 2006, DiBiase attended an IPW show in Newton, Iowa, where he watched his sons' tag team match. Mike At the International Wrestling Institute and Museum the following day, he accepted the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame induction for his father, Mike, on the International Wrestling Institute and Museum. On October 9, 2006, he also attended the Raw Family Reunion, assisting Ric Flair in his match with the Spirit Squad. Ted DiBiase was released from his WWE contract on October 26, 2006.

On December 10, 2007, DiBiase made his first appearance in over five years at the Raw 15th Anniversary Special, winning a 15-man tournament royal, in which he was not even a participant. The fight royal was won by Irwin R. Schyster, DiBiase's former tag team partner. Money Incorporated's former tag team partner. DiBiase arrived down to ringside and offered Schyster a bribe to remove himself. DiBiase triumphed over the top rope after Schyster accepted and hopped over the top rope, leaving DiBiase victor DiBiase. And after fifteen years, DiBiase revealed that everyone still had a price for the "Million Dollar Man" even after fifteen years.

In William Regal's office, he was seen alongside Mr. McMahon on the May 19, 2008 edition of Raw to "discuss company" as a team. On the following Raw, DiBiase introduced his son Ted DiBiase, Jr. as WWE's newest addition.

Ted DiBiase, Jr., announced in a segment with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton on Raw that DiBiase would appear on Raw the following week as the special guest host, and DiBiase appeared as scheduled on July 6. DiBiase booked his son to face Randy Orton on the show. After DiBiase Jr. lost the game, he accused his father of preparing him and attempting to kidnail his life, as well as slapping his father across the face. In his last act as the guest host, DiBiase will be late in the show and barred a triple threat match for Randy Orton's WWE Championship at Night of Champions, including John Cena and Triple H. In WWE Legends of WrestleMania, he is also a playable character and an unlockable hero in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 and WWE 2K14. On the first inductee of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2010 on February 8 of Raw, DiBiase was announced as the first inductee of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2010. DiBiase appeared on the NXT's November 2 edition, where he was the minister for Aksana and Goldust's wedding. DiBiase appeared on Raw later this year, accompanied by Irwin R. Schyster, wherein Goldust returned the stolen Million Dollar Championship to him. DiBiase Jr. immediately offered to give the newly returned title to his son Ted DiBiase Jr., but was turned down. It was announced on February 21, 2011, that Jim Duggan would be inducted into the Hall of Fame. On December 12, he and fellow artist Mick Foley appeared on the Slammy Awards episode of Raw, and he presented the "Moment of the Year" award, which was won by Mark Henry and Big Show. DiBiase appeared on Smackdown: Blast from the Past on April 10, 2012. He rejoined Old School Raw ringside with The Prime Time Players on March 4, 2013 and promised to be their boss if they lost the match against Team Hell No. 74. At the 2014 Old School Raw special, DiBiase was accompanied by IRS as he approached Big E Langston on his way to a match and told him everybody's got a price, to which Langston applauded.

DiBiase appeared on January 22, 2018 during the 25th Anniversary episode of Raw, in which he appeared in Poker with The Acolytes Protection Agency.

The WWE 24/7 Championship from Alundra Blayze was "bought" on July 22, 2019. According to reports, the 26-year time between his last title win in 1993 is the longest in WWE history. In a limousine on the same night, he later lost the title to Drake Maverick.

DiBiase "was inside the jewelry store presenting his Silver and Gold diamond watch to Cameron Grimes and his gold watch on April 27, 2021 episode of NXT, making Grimes jealous.
