Hornswoggle Career

Professional wrestling career

Postl began his career in the Fox Valley Wrestling Alliance (FVWA), and was referred to as Hardcore Wonder in the ring. Shortstack is a sport that describes wrestling, wrestling Alliance territory NWA Wisconsin, where he won the NWA Wisconsin X Division Championship in 2005. Devin Diamond, a wrestler from The Pretty Hott Thangs, also won the SSW Tag Team Championship in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, on May 19, 2006. Since signing a World Wrestling Entertainment deal, he renounced the title.

On May 26, 2006, Postl made his television debut on SmackDown as the character Little Bastard, Finlay's leprechaun partner. Finlay's win over Paul Burchill, a vivacious, gritty, mysterious little man in a leprechaun costume, scurried out from under the ring and lunged on Burchill, who roared maniacally. Finlay led him away from his work only to slam him back into Burchill once more and again. After matches and shaming Finlay's opponents, the Postl continued to appear from under the ring for the next few weeks. Finlay's opponents were soon becoming more aggressive, and Finlay's opponents were soon to be dissatisfied, much to Finlay's dismay. He bit Finlay at one point when Finlay tried to discourage him from attacking Gunner Scott. When Finlay tossed him a shillelagh to knock out Champion Bobby Lashley and pick up the trophy, he helped Finlay win the WWE United States Championship.

On WWE's website on February 23, 2007, the character's name was changed to Hornswoggle, and all references to the term "Little Bastard" were deleted. The root of "hornswoggle" is to swindle, cheat, hoodwink, or hoax. Hornswoggle and Michael Cole were sluggish on the 2nd episode of Smackdown! Finlay abused Cole later in the day, threatening him to say "Hornswoggle" in honor of Little Bastard. Hornswoggle helped Finlay beat Mr. Kennedy by firing a senton bomb off a stepladder onto Kennedy on March 30, essentially copying Kennedy's move, the Kenton Bomb.

SmackDown!

Michael Cole and JBL announced the change as the "Lepreton Bomb" right away. When Hornswoggle attempted to interfere on Finlay's behalf, Kennedy struck Hornswoggle with a Green Bay Plunge off of a ladder. Finlay argued against Kennedy after his match and challenged him to a handicap match with Hornswoggle as Finlay's partner on April 6's episode. Kennedy apologized for offending Hornswoggle before the match. Finlay apologised and formed a team with Kennedy.

Hornswoggle won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship after he pinned Jamie Noble in a Cruiserweight Open at The Great American Bash. Until the referee tallied the pin and awarded him the belt, the other participants and commentators were unaware that he was a participant in the game. Hornswoggle's storyline began with a belt dispute with Noble. Hornswoggle retained the title after beating Noble by a countout next week. Noble was stabbed in the weeks after shaming him with a fire extinguisher, evicting him, causing him to get choked, and luing him in a massive box.

The storyline involving Mr. McMahon's illegitimate son came to an end with the revelation that Hornswoggle was the illegitimate son on the September 10 episode of Raw. On the SmackDown episode of September 28, Hornswoggle's feud with Noble came to an end. Hornswoggle was obliged to drop the Cruiserweight Championship by Acting General Manager Vickie Guerrero, citing that his son's name and his diminutive stature would eventually jeopardize his health. To show his son "tough love," Mr. McMahon began giving Hornswoggle matches against rivals who were much bigger than him. At Survivor Series, Hornswoggle was placed in a match against The Great Khali. When Finlay attacked Hornswoggle on Hornswoggle's behalf, Khali disqualified them, denying disqualification, turning both Hornswoggle and Finlay faces. Finlay appeared with Hornswoggle for the first time since the beginning of the Hornswoggle and Mr. McMahon storyline began. Finlay defeated Khali with the help of Hornswoggle at Armageddon.

Hornswoggle's father, Mr. McMahon, was scheduled to face him in a steel cage match on February 18 on Raw's February 18 episode. Mr. McMahon whipped Hornswoggle with a leather belt during this match. Finlay attempted to join but JBL charged him and handcuffed to the ring wires. While an enraged Finlay watched, Mr. McMahon took the ring and allowed JBL to defeat Hornswoggle. Hornswoggle had internal bleeding in the brain and spinal injury as a result of the assault, according to WWE.com. Hornswoggle was not McMahon's son, but "in truth [was] the son of Finlay," JBL said on January 25 of Raw. Finlay declared Hornswoggle was indeed his son, then was forced to watch helplessly as JBL attacked Hornswoggle in his hospital bed next week. Hornswoggle returned to live television at WrestleMania XXIV, accompanying Finlay in the fight against his Belfast Brawl with JBL, allowing Finlay to get the shot in with the shillelagh. JBL won the match by hitting Finlay with the kendo stick in the shins and following up with the Clothesline from Hell.

On the 18th episode of SmackDown, he made his in-ring debut defeating Matt Striker after a Tadpole Splash. Hornswoggle and Finlay were both drafted to the ECW brand as part of the 2008 WWE Supplemental Draft. Hornswoggle and Finlay competed against John Morrison and The Miz for the WWE Tag Team Championship at Night of Champions, but didn't win.

As part of the 2009 Supplemental Draft, Hornswoggle was drafted to the Raw brand, without Finlay. Hornswoggle later became involved in a feud with Chavo Guerrero, in which they participated in a string of comedy gimmick matches voted by the weekly Guest Host for Raw (Texas Bullrope Match, Blindfold Match, Falls Count Anywhere, etc.). On WWE Superstars' website, the service debuted on July 7, 2009, and then moved to Raw. Every match in this feud was won by Hornswoggle.

Hornswoggle's next storyline began with the October 26 episode of Raw, where Hornswoggle was given notice that he was no longer allowed to wear it. Later that night, he retaliated by assisting the Raw guest hosts, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano, with a D-X fight against each other and John Cena for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. Hornswoggle attempted to sue D-X for assaulting him on December 21, but he dropped charges against him after D-X decided to make him D-X's official mascot. Hornswoggle and Triple H were interviewed on the backstage of Raw backstage on January 18, 2010 -- The Miz and Jon Heder. Triple H made the match a six-man tag team match: D-X and Hornswoggle, The Miz and Heder, which culminated in Hornswoggle's capture of Heder.

Hornswoggle was drafted back to the SmackDown brand as part of the 2010 WWE Supplemental Draft on WWE.com. Hornswoggle was named the official mascot for the Bragging Rights team on October 8 in the episode SmackDown. Hornswoggle's Anonymous Raw General Manager, who previously worked the brand from June 2010 to July 2011, was proclaimed on the September 9, 2012 episode of Raw, Hornswoggle.

Hornswoggle was proclaimed as the pro for Titus O'Neil on the season premiere of NXT Redemption. Young vs. Darren Young and Chavo Guerrero, a young boy from Mexico, fought O'Neil after their tag team victory over Darren Young and Chavo Guerrero. Hornswoggle won a match against each other later in the season. Hornswoggle was later approached by O'Neil's old NXT mentor, Zack Ryder. Titus was lured out of the game by posing as a Hornswoggle, but the ring was re-entered and Titus was securing the win. Hornswoggle was sent gifts from a spacious admirer who mistakenly believed it to be Maryse. He responded by giving her gifts but only to be shot down. AJ Lee revealed herself as the admirer by kissing him on July 26. Hornswoggle was then accompanied by AJ on both NXT and SmackDown. Hornswoggle became jealous of O'Neil hugging AJ and eventually sent her a letter announcing that he no longer wanted to be on NXT and preferred to remain on SmackDown.

Hornswoggle's holiday version of SmackDown, 2011 won a battle royal by lastly removing Sheamus, to get a wish from Santa Claus. (Mick Foley) Hornswoggle wished for the ability to speak in a nonverbal manner with Sheamus. Hornswoggle made the special guest ring announcer for the David Otunga and Sheamus match on the following week's SmackDown. He defeated Heath Slater in an Over the Top Rope Challenge on January 6, 2012, during a SmackDown episode. Hornswoggle formed an alliance with Justin Gabriel, a former Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes and Heath Slater, who accompanied Gabriel to the ring against United States Champion Jack Swagger later this month. Hornswoggle was named as the mascot on Theodore Long's WrestleMania XXVIII team on March 23.

He returned on October 12, 2012, when he was discovered with a Randy Orton doll. Ricardo Rodriguez wrecked it and started looking for the authentic Orton. He returned to Raw in November after a period of inactivity, identifying himself with The Great Khali and Natalya. After Khali and Natalya lost to Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee on January 11, 2013 episode of SmackDown, he was hurt (storyline) by Big E Langston. On March 17th episode of Raw to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, only to be interrupted by Bad News Barrett.

Hornswoggle's heel turned to the wrong direction for the first time since 2007, after naming him as the mascot for 3MB (Heath Slater, Drew McIntyre, and Jinder Mahal). He met El Torito many times over the course of his life, losing a WeeLC match at Extreme Rules, leading to his head being shaved, including a hair match at Payback. WWE announced McIntyre and Mahal on June 12, 2014, with a total number of 3MB ending. Hornswoggle accompanied Slater for his match against Adam Rose in July and was kidnapped by the Rosebuds, who turned him into a mini-Rose. Hornswoggle's second valet, as well as El Torito, on August 19 of Main Event, joined Los Matadores (including El Torito). To complement El Torito, who was dressed as a tiny bull, Hornswoggle donned a cow suit and was referred to as La Vaina (meaning "the little cow"). Heath Slater and Titus O'Neil defeated Los Matadores, who were then defeated by them. When he joined El Torito to defeat Slater and O'Neil this week, he was changed to La Vaca (meaning "the cow" in the same week. Hornswoggle heeled out once more on September 29's episode of Raw, becoming the Mini-Gator of Slater and O'Neil's (Slater-Gator) mascot. Postl took time off from WWE television to doarthroscopic shoulder decompression surgery in March 2015.

WWE announced on September 28, 2015, that it had suspended Postl for 30 days for breaching the company's Wellness policy. Postl was banned from WWE on May 6, 2016, despite not having made any appearances in WWE since then.

Postl returned to the Greatest Royal Rumble event on April 27, 2018, excluding Dash Wilder, before being eliminated by Tony Nese. During the Women's Rumble match on January 27, 2019, Postl appeared at Royal Rumble chasing Zelina Vega. In a pre-taped match between The Street Profits and Viking Raiders, WWE called him to appear in Backlash 2020. Despite appearing on his show, his segment was not broadcast.

Following his release from WWE, Postl returned to ACW, his hometown promotion. On June 11, Postl announced that he had also signed up to appear at a show co-promoted by Global Force Wrestling and WrestlePro under the ring name Swoggle and WrestlePro, and that he debuted for the competition against Brian Myers. Swoggle gained after Myers knocked down the referee, and although the ref was down, Grim's Toy Show interfered against Myers with a full nelson slam. Swoggle won by pinfall after a tadpole splash on the incapacitated Myers. Chikara revealed on July 6 that Postl would make its debut for the promotion under the ring name The Big Deal. Grado was defeated by WrestleCon, Postl, under the Swoggle ring name.

Swoggle made an appearance in the Tag Team Apocalypto match on December 15, 2016, titled Complete Nonstop Deletion. Swoggle will meet Lashley and knocked himself out after turning against Spud in the Tag Team Apocalypto, and he'll face him out when he tried a spear on Lashley. He will then appear on Impact Wrestling's January 5, 2017, where he will face Rockstar Spud, causing Spud to resign. In a losing battle against Aron Rex and Spud on January 19, he would team up with Robbie E on a losing effort. Swoggle was paying attention to Rockstar Spud's hair in what was supposed to be an amusing gag with the fans on April 27 - but Spud denied this and escalated the entrance ramp, with Swoggle chasing Swoggle. Swoggle will vehemently attack Spud with a hammer later that same evening, resulting in unknown leg injuries. Spud returned to Impact on June 1, weaving through the crowd and whacking Swoggle with a hammer, as Swoggle had done to him. His profile was officially deleted from Impact Wrestling's website on November 13, 2017. Swoggle was never bound to a deal by Impact Wrestling, according to reports.

Swoggle competed in the Bound for Gold gauntlet match, which was won by Eddie Edwards in Bound for Glory 2019, where Swoggle and Swoggle met in the Bound for Gold gauntlet match.

Swoggle made another surprise return to Impact Wrestling in Bound for Glory 2020, where he competed in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Battle Royal, which was won by Rhyno. Swoggle helped Tommy Dreamer beat Brian Myers in a hardcore match on October 27 by hitting Myers with a low blow. Myers would face Swoggle in a match at Turning Point later today. He lost to Myers in a shootout.

Swoggle, a parody of wrestler AJ Styles, appeared on November 24, 2020, defeating Ethan Page with the support of Karl Anderson.
