Stevie McCrorie (born 23 March 1985) is a Scottish singer-songwriter.

He is best known as a firefighter who won the fourth series of the BBC television singing competition The Voice UK in 2015, where he appeared on Kodaline's "All I Want" where he appeared, with all four coaches substituting him.

"Lost Stars," his debut single, was released the day after his win and placed first in his homeland Scotland, number six in the United Kingdom and eighty-seven in Ireland.

He appeared on T in The Park in 2015 after winning The Voice. McCrorie's second album, Big World, debuted at number four on the Scottish Albums Chart and number thirty-five on the UK Albums Chart in January 2016.

McCrorie and his record label parted company shortly afterwards, and McCrorie resurfaced as a firefighter shortly after, but not yet touring and releasing music as an independent artist.

"Lost Stars," his winners' album, is currently the most charting and best-selling single in the United Kingdom from a contest winner named "The Voice UK", charting at number six on the UK Singles Chart and selling 62,000 copies.

Early life

Stevie McCrorie was born in Stirling and spent his formative years in Denny, Falkirk. He was educated at St Modan's High School in Stirling.

He was a firefighter for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in 2015 and was nicknamed "The Hero" during the competition.

Personal life

McCrorie is married to Amy Laverty McCrorie and the two children, Bibi and Sunny, have two daughters. Michael, Paul, and sister Nadia are among his three siblings.

Career

McCrorie began his singing and recording career with the band 'Scruffy Kid', which earned him second place in the band's Scottish Schools Battle. He was active in bands including 'Feelings Pass,'The Goodnight Story, 'City', and 'Voom Club' before renaming the band name to Stevie and the Moon, which was later released These Old Traditions in 2010. The Moon and Stevies were disbanded a day after one last performance at Falkirks 20 Rocks on June 16th 2013. McCrorie enjoyed success performing T in the 2010 Wickerman Festival, BBC unveiling, and Radio 1 live lounge performances and interviews with BBC Radio 1's Jo Whiley.

McCrorie auditioned for the fourth series of The Voice UK's "All I Want" in 2015, with all four coaches cheering for him. He eventually joined Ricky Wilson's staff. McCrorie gained the Battle after battling Tim Arnold in Imagine Dragons' "Demons." McCrorie performed U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" during the Knockout Rounds. McCrorie was then taken to the live shows. He appeared on Cyndi Lauper's "All Through the Night" during the first live show on Friday. McCrorie was given a "fast pass" by Team Ricky and was saved. Emmanuel Nwamadi, who won the following live show via the public vote and Autumn Sharif, who did not progress to the second live show, was among the other Team Ricky artists. McCrorie and teammate Nwamadi appeared on Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" on the second live show and advanced to the Live Final. He performed "I'll Stand By You," "Get Back," "All I Want," and the winners' single "Lost Stars" during the live final. McCrorie had been named the winner of The Voice UK 2015 on April 4th, 2015, according to the live show. He had defeated Lucy O'Byrne, the only remaining contestant, in the competition.

McCrorie unveiled his winner's single on "Lost Stars," written by Gregg Alexander, Danielle Brisebois, Nick Lashley, and Nck Southwood, on April 5, 2015, the day after he earned the show. In Scotland, the album debuted at number one and six in the United Kingdom, with six in Scotland and six in the United Kingdom.

In November 2015, his second single, "My Heart Never Lies," was released alongside a accompanying music video. According to the Scottish Singles Chart, it has risen to number 51.

On January 8, 2016, he was the first album since winning The Voice UK, Big World. On the UK Albums Chart, the album debuted at number four in Scotland, at number 35. He appeared on The Voice in 2016 on the first live shows and performed "My Heart Never Lies" to help promote the collection. Following the success, Big World re-entered the Scottish Albums Chart at number 15 and UK Albums Chart at number 70, while My Heart Never Lies re-entered at a new record of 45 on the Scottish Singles Chart.

McCrorie and music PR firm APB parted ways in April 2016, resuming his work as a firefighter. McCrorie's deal with Decca Records had ended in August 2016, and McCrorie reported on Facebook.

McCrorie revealed to Radio Times in April 2017 that he is still looking for a career in music as an independent performer and continues to produce songs and perform live. McCrorie's album "I Am Alive" dropped in December 2017 without an accompanying music video, and the song "I Am Alive" debuted on the official Scottish charts at number 69.

McCrorie's Days Like This, a new play, was released on December 27, 2019 by his own independent record label. The extended play featured five songs, including versions of "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by U2 and "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams."
