Kim Young-woon (born January 17, 1985), better known by his stage name Kangin (lit.

"British benevolence" is a South Korean musician, actor, television presenter, and radio host.

He is best known as a former member of Super Junior and its subgroup Super Junior-T, Super Junior-H.

Personal life

Kangin was enlisted for his mandatory military service at the Nonsan military camp in Chungcheongnam-do Province on July 5, 2010 for five weeks of basic training followed by 20 months of active service with the Republic of Korea Army. He was drafted from the 56th army division in Namyangju-si in Gyeonggi-do on April 16, 2012.

Kangin officially debuted on November 6, 2005 on SBS' music show Popular Songs, performing their first single, "Today" (Knock Out) "Knock Out). SuperJunior05 (Twins) was released a month later on December 5, 2005, and it debuted at number three on the monthly MIAK K-pop charts.

SM Entertainment began recruiting new members for the forthcoming Super Junior generation in March 2006. However, the scheme changed and the company reported a halt in the production of future Super Junior generations. Following the addition of thirteen members Kyuhyun, the group shortened the suffix "05" and became officially recognized as Super Junior. On June 7, 2006, the repolished band's first CD single "U" was released, becoming the company's most popular single before the release of "Sorry, Sorry" in March 2009.

He appeared in the Trot-singing Super Junior-T in February 2007, a year later, he became a member of Super Junior-H. Kangin's silver-screen debut was in the Super Junior film Attack on the Pin-Up Boys, which premiered on July 26, 2007.

Kangin will reunite for Super Junior's sixth album, Sexy, Free & Single, which was announced on July 1, 2012, in June. This was the first time he had worked with Super Junior since October 2009. Kangin has also appeared on two of MBC's most popular entertainment shows, including Nothing is Impossible on Sunday Night. Kangin appeared in 'Band of Brothers' on channel Mnet, with Heechul, Jay, and Jungmo. Kangin appeared on MTV as the MC for 'Class Up' in 2008. In 2008, Kangin was one of four MCs for the SBS 'Change' variety show. Kangin, as well as bandmate Heechul, debuted as musical actors in the musical, Xanadu, from September 9 to November 9, 2008. Gene Kelly and Olivia Newton-John appeared in Xanadu, a 1980s musical film. The Xanadu musical has also been adapted as a Broadway musical. According to their time slot, Heechul and Kangin, Choi Sungwon, performed the same character Sonny, as did Choi Sungwon, and auditions and casting picks were chosen in a competition based on reality television.

Kim Tae-yeon took over Cho's hosting spot in April 2008. On April 19, 2009, Kangin's last day of hosting the program came to an end. Kangin and actress Lee Yoon-ji appeared on We Got Married, a popular MBC reality show, from December 2008 to May 2009. This was the first MBC variety show Kangin appeared in after the time-slot clash between MBC and SM Entertainment over Kangin's work as host of SBS Super Junior Exploration of Human Body in 2007.

Kangin and a few other Super Juniors hosted a television show called 'Miracle' in 2009 for charity. Kangin was also cast in the role of 'Hotae' for MBC's cable comedy drama Romance Zero. The drama ended in late May 2009 with positive reviews and ratings.

Kangin appeared in What Happened to Mirae, his first project since his DUIs in 2016, and the first episode premiered on May 31.
