Cho Mi-yeon (born January 31, 1997), also known as Miyeon, is a South Korean singer.

She is the main vocalist of the South Korean girl group (G)I-dle under Cube Entertainment, and she starred Ahri in the virtual K-pop girl group K/DA.

Early life

Cho was born on January 31, 1997. She is the only child in the family's household. Cho showed a keen interest in singing even as an infant. Her father influenced her passion for music. Cho's parents knew she was passionate and sent her to music schools to learn various skills, such as violin, guitar, and piano. She auditioned for YG Entertainment in middle school and went on to spend the next five years as a trainee. However, her debut was foiled and she left the company early.

Cho decided to pursue music after enrolling in a music academy to develop her vocal skills as well as learning how to compose and perform music. Cho spent eight years as an apprentice before making his debut with (G)I-Dle).

Career

Cho made his Cube Entertainment debut in early 2017. She was a freelance singer and appeared as an associate singer with Lim Seul-ong on Urban Zakapa's Canada Tour in September 2016. In 2017, she appeared in a small part of Lim Seul-ong's "You" music video.

Cho performed with (G)I-Dle on May 2, 2018, debuting with their mini-album I Am and the title song "Latata."

Cho was announced on October 26, 2018, alongside Soyeon, Madison Beer, and Jaira Burns, along with Soyeon, Madison Beer, and Jaira Burns. The four singers performed for the virtual K-pop girl band K/DA, with Miyeon voicing Ahri, one of the League of Legends' most popular champions. Ahri is the group's most vocalist, as well as Evelynn, who is voiced by Beer. Their song "Pop/Stars" went viral on YouTube and topped Billboard's World Digital Songs chart.

Cho performed "Cart" with Hangzoo in 2019 as part of the Amoeba Culture X Devine Channel Code Share Project.

Cho appeared on MBC's music competition program King of Mask Singer in 2020. She went on to win the first round by 64 points. She sang of Yoon Mi-rae's "Goodbye Sadness and Hello Happiness" in the second round, but she lost to Im Kang-sung. Both the audience and panels applauded her vocal performance. Cho's voice was described as cigarettey but soulful. Choo Hayoung, a well-known YouTuber and band vocalist, made her acting debut in September 2020 in Replay: The Moment as a Female Lead in web-drama Replay: Yoo Hayoung. She has a cold and chic personality, but she is also a generous and kindhearted person. The drama depicts an empathetic romance in a clumsy and anxious sense, but dreams and admiration of reliving past emotions in the present eighteen youth are depicted. Cho performed "We Already Fell In Love" with Minnie in October 2020, and Cho released her first solo OST "My Destiny" in November as part of the Tale of the Nine Tailed film series.

Cho appeared in Seoul Connects U, a multi-destinity exhibition jointly produced by MBC and Seoul Tourism Foundation, on November 30, 2020. The initiative promotes a time slip trip in the same space and at different times to global viewers by relating the past and present of Seoul through photos of actors and followers in real time.

Cho was selected to be the main host of Naver Now radio program Gossip Idle (Korean) in February 2021 and was broadcasting the radio weekly starting at 8 p.m. from February 9. The radio show was initially broadcast as a trilogy to celebrate (G)I-dle's fourth mini album I Burn's comeback in January, but due to fan response, it has returned to the official live show. Cho was named as one of the new hosts of Mnet's music show M Countdown in the same month, a position she held from February 18 with actor Nam Yoon-su. She was the first female MC on the programme in nine years. The pair performed a duet song "Dream" by Suzy and Baekhyun on the day of their first broadcast. Cho made the list of Korean Business Research Institute's monthly "Individual Girl Group Members Brand Power Ranking" at number three, up 96.2 percent behind Blackpink's Jennie and Lisa at the end of the month.

Cho appeared on Kingdom: Legendary War as a shadow card to support BtoB's "Blue Moon" in May 2021. (Cinema Verda) No Limit stage. The stage was staged as a musical-like stage with the idea of the movie La La Land and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, with Cho's involvement in a love storyline between Minhyuk and Changsub.

Cho was featured on CS Happy Entertainment's "You Were My Breath" (Koreans: ), a pop-ballad song performed by a 60-member orchestra featuring Joseph K. who created Paul Kim's "Me After You" and guitarist Park Shin-won, according to Korean media reports on May 28, a Korean media news network. Rocoberry, who makes the hit song "I Will Go to You Like the First Snow," is the artist of the video. Jeon Chang-sik, the CEO of CS Happy Entertainment, acknowledged Cho's talent and exceeded his hopes with her unrivalled singing skills that have yet to be revealed in (G)I-dle. It debuted at number 96 on the Gaon Download Chart and number 20 on the BGM Chart, with just one day of counting.

Cho will be seen alongside War in Life actor Lee Tae-vin in the action-comedy web series Delivery, which was released in November 2021. She'll be playing Kwak Doo-sik, a delivery girl who is well versed in martial arts. In the Gyeonggi Province, the singer is expected to appear in this web drama to help local small and medium-sized businesses survive the difficult times due to COVID-19, and production staff announced, "I'm looking forward to Cho Mi-yeon's wire action."

Cho released the lead single "Side Effect" on October 11, 2021, in October 2021, as a result of his first EP, Love Right Back. It was described as a medium-tempo synth-pop song with witty lyrics that referred to the person in love as a side effect. "Blue Moon," Lee Donghae's B-side track, also co-starred her on "Blue Moon," which was released on October 13. Bang Ye-kyung and Ryu Ui-hyun were confirmed to appear in the forthcoming pink comedy web series Adult Trainee on the same day. Cho was featured in rapper Kid Milli's "Kitty" on November 17, 2021.

Cho will make her solo debut at the end of April 20, 2022, and it was announced on April 6, 2022. Cube Entertainment announced on April 8, 2022, that her first EP, Myself, will be released on April 27, as well as the lead single "Drive." Cho received her first music program award at SBS MTV's The Show on May 3.
