Jeon So-yeon Life

Jeon So-yeon (born August 26, 1998), also known as Soyeon, is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer who has signed to Cube Entertainment.

She gained fame for her appearances on television shows Produce 101 and Unpretty Rapstar before becoming the head of the Girls group (G)I-Dle in May 2018.

Early life

Jeon So-yeon was born in Gaepo-dong, Seoul, South Korea, on August 26, 1998. She was homeschooled as an infant and later attended Kuryong Elementary School. Jeon participated in ballet as an elementary student, winning numerous competitions. After seeing Big Bang perform, she left ballet to pursue a musical career. Jeonoccoccically attended and failed 20 to 30 singing auditions while in elementary school.

Jeon later decided to pursue rapping. She eventually gathered the confidence to rap at auditions, which culminated in her being spotted and getting calls from people interested. With the parties' musical tastes being different from her own, she decided against becoming a singer and tried out dancing again. It was then that she began to perform as a street dancer.

Jeon auditioned for the first time in Incheon after seeing Cube Entertainment's 2014 audition poster. Jeon became a Cube Entertainment trainee after winning the final round of judging.

Jeon So-yeon Career

Career

In the first season of the girl group survival competition, Produce 101, Jeon appeared as a representative trainee for Cube Entertainment in January 2016. Throughout the show's run, she was a hot contestant, scoring at 10th place on the fifth episode. However, she ranked 20 on the last episode and refused to register as a member of the winning girl group, I.O.I.

Jeon appeared on Unpretty Rapstar's third season in July 2016. Jeon was the second runner-up on the show's final compilation album, earning three tracks.

Jeon signed an exclusive deal as an artist under Cube Entertainment on December 29, 2016. "Jelly" and "Idle Song," which she wrote herself, were released on November 5, 2017.

Jeon would re-debute in Cube Entertainment's latest girl group (G)I-dle) as the leader and main rapper on January 11, 2018. She is included in the lyrics, music, and arrangement for both their debut song "Latata" and their comeback song "Hann," both of which were well received and commercially lucrative. She also contributed to five songs from (G)I-Dle's debut extended play I Am.

Jeon will be included in a girl group initiative named Station Young for SM Station's X 0 alongside Red Velvet's Kim Chung-ha and GFriend's SinB on August 8, 2018. On September 28, 2018, Station Young's first album, "Wow Thing," was released.

Riot Games invited Jeon and fellow (G)I-Dle member Miyeon to collaborate with American musicians Jaira Burns and Madison Beer as part of the multiplayer online battle arena video game League of Legends on their debut. During the 2018 League of Legends World Championship, K/DA officially debuted with the album "Pop/Stars." On the same day, the official music video for "Pop/Stars" was released, with 30 million views on YouTube in five days and 100 million in one month. According to Billboard's World Digital Songs chart, the single album debuted on Billboard's top-ten lists. The K/DA incarnation of the character Akali, whose vocals were performed by Jeon, was particularly popular, becoming a regular subject of fan art and cosplay.

Jeon created "No" in 2019, which was chosen in a blind test and served as the lead single. Jeon also apologised for using a pirated version of the German music-producing program Kontakt in March 2019. "I deeply regret that I used an illegal copy of the program," she posted on her online fan club forum; as far as I remember, I used it when I first learned songwriting. I hadn't even noticed that I didn't delete the program. However, I have only used approved applications since I first started composing in earnest. The apology came only days after a behind-the-scenes YouTube video of preparing the I Made EP, produced by the company, featured screenshots of the app's illicit copy on her laptop screen. The video was later deleted by the department, who apologised.

In the League of Legends collaborative hip hop group True Damage, Jeon revived her role as Akali. "Giants," a Becky G. Ke Palmer, Thutmose and Duckwrth collaboration, was released as a single alongside an animated music video on November 10, 2019. The song is primarily in English, with verses in Spanish and Korean. The team competed in the 2019 League of Legends World Championship finals in Paris, France, on the same day. Jeon was competing in the first week in a row for the second year in a row at the opening ceremony of the World Championship finals. According to Billboard's Rap and R&B/Hip hop Digital Songs Sales charts, "Giants" debuted at number fifteen and nineteen, respectively.

Jeon made her appearance on Mnet's latest Hip Hop inspired Do You Know Hip Hop in 2020. The show features rappers who emerged from the late 1990s-1990s and pioneered the hip hop style in Korea, as well as a visitor with an enduring love for hip hop. She appeared on February 28 as one of the "new rappers" to perform with Double K and Nuck on "2020 Lion remix" for Old & Young's collaboration stage. I Trust, a family of I Trust, released their third EP in April. All of the songs on the album, as well as lead single "Oh My God," was written and performed by Jeon and longtime collaborator Yummy Tone. The song was released in two languages, English and Korean. Jeon appeared on DJ Hyo's "Dessert" with rapper Loopy on July 22, a teen riff. The song is a jungle pop song with bouncing beats and catchy moombahton style, a clever and memorable hook that conveys the desire for a sweet passion rather than a complicated and intricate one, which is expressed with dessert. DJ Hyo revealed in a Melon interview that the reason she picked Jeon is because "she is an exceptional performer in many ways, so I wanted to do the collab with her." Jeon was instrumental in writing and composing the song. Jeon created the group's first summer song, "Dumdi Dumdi," with Pop Time, who has produced many of Zico and Block B's hit songs.

"The Baddest" and "More" on K/DA's All Out, August 27, 2020. Jeon appeared on Apink's Namjoo solo debut song "Bird," which was released on September 7. Jeon, Hui of Pentagon, and AB6IX's Lee Dae-hwi were confirmed on December 16, and Mnet's audition show CAP-TEEN will be producing songs. Lee Seo-bin has sung "Eternal Sunshine" in a song. It's a song with a groovy rhythm of guitar and bass that stands out, expressing the feelings of first love. Lee Seo-bin received overall high marks and was given a total score of 354 by the judges.

Jeon wrote four of the six songs on (G)I-Dle's EPI Burn in January 2021, including the lead single "Hwaa." Jeon appeared on Face ID, a KakaoTV's original entertainment program that reveals celebrities' everyday lives through their phones. Every Monday, beginning January 25, the program aired every Monday for three weeks. She chronicled the making of several of her critically acclaimed songs, daily lives with (G)I-dle members, 1,600 demo songs, and a behind-the-scenes video from the beginning of their comeback in the episodes. It was announced on May 21, 2021, that Jeon would debut a solo album. Cube Entertainment revealed on June 16, 2021, that Windy, her first EP, would be released on July 5, with "Beam Beam" as the lead single. On July 13, Jeon claimed her first music program award at SBS MTV's The Show.
