Lim Jae-beom (born January 6, 1994) also known by his stage name JB is a South Korean musician, record designer, singer, dancer, and actor who is the leader of South Korea's Got7 and JJ Project's sub-units Jus2 and boy band duo.

In 2012, JB made his small-screen debut with the drama series Dream High 2.

Seo Mi-joon has also appeared in MBC's When a Man Falls in Love as Seo Mi-joon.

Personal life

Jay B was diagnosed with clinical depression as well as anxiety disorder, and he has since started taking prescription drugs for them.

His parents divorced due to his father's alcoholism problem, and his mother later remarried. In Ilsan, his family owns a tomato farm.

He was involved in a minor car accident on September 12, 2014, when the driver was trying to change lanes to avoid a parked vehicle when a bus stopped behind, causing the vehicle to collide with a bus. Neither Jay B nor his workers sustained significant injuries.

Due to a spinal disc injury, he was unable to attend several Got7's Fly Tour concerts and a M!Countdown performance in 2016. On June 24, he returned to the Fly in Singapore concert at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, showing a complete recovery.

Career

Lim was cast in the role of Jang Woo-jae in the television drama Dream High 2, which premiered on January 30, 2012 on KBS for 16 episodes. He adopted the stage name JB in order not to be confused with singer Yim Jae-beom. He and fellow JJ Project participant Jinyoung debuted as the Duo JJ Project in May 2012, with the single album Bounce. On May 19, the official music video for their title track "Bounce" was released.

On March 11, 2013, it was announced that he would appear on MBC's new drama When a Man Falls in Love as Seo Mi-joon. The two members of JJ Project debuted on January 16, 2014 as part of a seven-member boy band called Got7.

He appeared in Dream Knight, a web drama starring actor Song Ha-yoon, as the female lead role.

He was involved in the art collaboration initiative Collaboran for Perrier's carbonated mineral water brand Perrier in 2018 together with groupmate Yugyeom. The production process was later revealed during a reality show in May.

Jus2, a Got7 sub-unit, debuted on March 5, 2019 with their EP Focus and their lead single "Focus on Me." On June 6, 2019, he attended the Saint Laurent 20SS Men's Collection in Los Angeles as a representative of Korea. He launched the JB Collection, a summer-themed clothing line in partnership with Represent, in December 2019, which went on sale for two weeks and sold 35,940 units.

Defsoul or Def., both for Got7 and the Offshore crew, are among his scripts; with the latter, he has produced two compilation extended plays, Scene #1 on June 24, 2020; and Scene #2 on March 26, 2020. He became the first male K-pop celebrity on the front page of American magazine Allure on April 13, 2020. On October 6–12, 2020 in Seoul, Def. held his first photo exhibition named Alone for the first time.

Following JYP Entertainment's termination of his employment, he left JYP Entertainment on January 19, 2021. With the debut of Got7's single "Encore," he began using the new stage name Jay B.

Jay B has signed an exclusive deal with H1ghr Music, a Korean American hip hop and R&B record label founded by Korean American musician Jay Park and longtime Seattle affiliate Cha Cha Malone on May 11, 2021. He made his debut as a solo artist by launching his latest song, "Switch It Up," starring rapper Sokodomo, which debuted at number 12 on the Gaon Download Chart three days later. Lim, JP and Cha Cha Malone, who also wrote it, wrote and self-composed the R&B song. The lyrics of "Switch It Up" talk about love, while the name implies that his life is going to change. Lim made his debut on the Billboard R&B Digital Song Sales Chart at number six on May 25, 2021, becoming the first Korean soloist to debut on this chart. With "Switch It Up" debuting at number 18, he became the third Korean soloist to chart on Billboard's R&B/Hip Hop Digital Song Sales Chart.

He became the first cover star for TMRW Magazine Korea on July 30, 2021. The 100-page magazine had been curated with Lim himself and included an exclusive interview, photoshoot, and his own film photos. On episode 319 of MBC's singing competition show King of Mask Singer as "Toad's House" in August.

SOMO:Fume and the music video of B.T.W.'s first EP, released on August 26, 2021 (Feat. Both digitally and physically, "Jay Park" was released. On September 25, Jay B's first solo global fan meeting, "SOMO:Fume, Style of My Own:Fume," was sold out in five days as part of the album's sales, although official merchandise launching the EP was not available for one week starting on September 25. Following the opening of an offline pop-up store in Seoul on October 1, 2021, a second week was launched.

He appeared in "Feel the Rhythm of Korea 2" in September, a marketing campaign sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea Tourism Organization for which he performed "I'm Surfin" (; Nuilliria), a re-interpretation of traditional song "Niliria) that was released on September 3 as part of a music video. Under his moniker Def, Jay B introduced Represent, "Live Without Regrets" on September 27, his second clothing collection. On October 18, he collaborated with Italian singer-songwriter and producer Fudasca on the album "Is It A Dream?" "In November, he appeared in the new Adidas Originals winter movie, "Open Spirit," alongside Blackpink, while Blackpink appeared in the new Adidas Originals winter film, "Open Spirit."

Jay B's first physical extended play, Def., Love, was released on January 26, 2022, and was ranked among the best albums and EPs of the first half of the year by Bandwagon.

On June 18, 2022, he held the "Nostalgic" solo fancon at Jangchung Arena to commemorate ten years since his debut: the event was attended by more than 10,000 people both online and offline.

It was announced on July 25, 2022, that Jay B and H1ghr Music's exclusive deal had ended and he had signed with CDNZA Records. He first performed at the "Nostalgic" fancon in September and then the EP Be Yourself followed him in September.
