Lee Hye-ri (born June 9, 1994), also known as Hyeri, is a South Korean singer and actress.

She is the youngest member of Girl's Day and is best known for her leading role in the television drama "Repe 1988 (2015)."

In 2016, she ranked third on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity list.

Early life and education

Hyeri was born in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, South Korea. Hye-rim, who is two years younger, has a sister. Hyeri grew up in poverty, living with her grandmother in the countryside while her mother was working in a factory.

Hyeri was scouted by Dream T Entertainment at a talent show and later on, she was accepted into Girl's Day with no prior preparation. She then attended the Seoul School of Performing Arts and then majored in Film at Konkuk University.

Personal life

Hyeri is currently in a relationship with actor and former co-star Ryu Jun-yeol. The two met in late 2016, where they began dating on the set of Reply 1988, where they shared each other's love affair, and begin dating in late 2016.

After being diagnosed with meningitis as a result of a full schedule and a lack of sleep in March 2016, Hyeri was hospitalized.

Hyeri was introduced as a new participant of Girl's Day alongside Yura when Jiin and Jisun left the organisation just two months after the group debuted. The resurgent band recorded a single titled "Nothing Lasts Forever" and went on to become one of the most popular and commercially lucrative musical quartets of its time.

Hyeri fainted on stage during a Girl's Day live performance in January 2014 and was forced to be carried off-stage by M Countdown staff. She was later diagnosed with swine flu.

Hyeri joined a newly formed agency Creative Group ING after her exclusive deal with Dream T Entertainment came to an end in 2019. Although all four members joined separate companies, they have confirmed that the group hasn't disbanded.

Hyeri made her acting debut in the SBS weekend drama Tasty Life, in which she appeared as the youngest in a family of four children.

A video of her teaching aegyo at her instructor went viral in South Korea in August 2014, a first at the time, an unprecedented feat at the time. She shot to fame overnight and later received the MBC Entertainment Awards for her Real Men appearance.

Hyeri was cast as one of the main characters in teen drama Schoolgirl Detectives, which premiered on cable channel JTBC in November 2014. In late 2014, she appeared in the mystery rom-com drama Hyde, Jekyll, Me, which debuted on SBS in January 2015.

Hyeri was cast as the protagonist of the tvN drama Reply 1988. The drama premiered in November and went on to become a commercial success, with audience ratings reaching 18.8%, making it one of the highest rated dramas in Korean cable television history. Hyeri's award-winning portrayal of the female protagonist drew skepticism and acclaim. The character of Hyeri at the 1988 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony was the Madagascar picket girl. The actress was chosen by the Madagascar delegation to be its official flag bearer at the 2018 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony due to the series's cultural significance. However, Hyeri turned down the offer due to her cramming schedule.

Hyeri, along with actor Ji Sung and CNBLUE member Kang Min-hyuk, began to appear in the SBS drama Entertainer in 2016 and for which she received the "New Star Award" at the 2016 SBS Drama Awards. She appeared in the police comedy drama Two Cops alongside Jo Jung-suk and Kim Seon-ho in 2017.

Hyeri would be the female lead in Monstrum in 2017, filming began in April. In September, 2018, Monstrum made its debut in September. In 2018, Hyeri appeared in My Punch-Drunk Boxer, a boxing comedy drama film. The film premiered at the 20th Jeonju International Film Festival in September, 2019; the general admission followed in October, 2019. Hyeri appeared in Miss Lee's tvN office comedy drama in 2019.

Hyeri is a regular on variety shows, in addition to acting. Because of her "frank and easy-going charms, vibrant energy, and flexible chemistry with other cast members," she has been dubbed a "blue chip" in the entertainment industry. Hyeri had been a regular cast member of DoReMi Market, a weekly television show on television, since 2018. In late 2020, she left the show to concentrate on her acting career.

Hyeri appeared in tvN's fantasy-romance drama My Roommate Is a Gumiho, alongside Jang Ki-yong, which was produced by iQIYI. The series was a commercial success, with more than 100 million views on YouTube and becoming the year's most viewed original drama series. Hyeri appeared in KBS2's historical drama Moonshine later this year, alongside Yoo Seung-ho.
