Jim James Career

Career

Before forming My Morning Jacket, James was the vocalist and guitarist of Month of Sundays, now known as Mont de Sundua.

My Morning Jacket's lead singer, frontman, producer, and lead songwriter James is a member of the band. In the April issue of Esquire's 2006 Esky Music Awards, best songwriter, he was named "Esky" for best songwriter.

On My Morning Jacket songs, James plays rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar, and occasionally lead guitar. In the Bob Dylan biopic "I'm Not There," he performed the song "Going to Acapulco" with Calexico as his backing band, which was included on the film's soundtrack. Along with fellow My Morning Jacket guitarist Carl Broemel, Rolling Stone named James as one of their "20 New Guitar Gods." Removador Recordings and Solutions was founded in 2008 by James, a former My Morning Jacket guitarist and cousin Johnny Quaid. "The brand, which was also described on its website, operates "on the simple principal of delivering the highest annual percentage of aural joy" back into investors and shareholders' hearts and minds.

He appeared on The Decemberists' album The Hazards of Love in 2009. In the "Change Begins Within" concert benefitting the David Lynch Foundation on April 4th, James performed at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. On July 7, James released Tribute To, an EP devoted to George Harrison's songs. A portion of the album's funds were donated to the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. Both a digital download and a physical CD/LP were available on yimyames.com. In "My Morning Straitjacket," an episode of the animated television series American Dad, James and the remainder of My Morning Jacket performed themselves.

Rounder Records released the Woody Guthrie tribute album New Multitudes, which featured songs from a variety of artists, including James (as Yim Yames) and Jay Farrar. For the July 2012 issue of Louisville magazine, James wrote an article about My Morning Jacket, describing how the band acquired its name and growing in Louisville. Patrick Hallahan and Tom Blankenship, two members of the band, also wrote articles on the subject.

On February 5, 2013, James released Regions of Light and Sound of God, his first solo full-length album.

In early 2014, James appeared on the River Lost on the River: Elvis Costello, Marcus Mumford, Taylor Goldsmith, and Rhiannon Giddens appeared on Lost on the River. T-Bone Burnett produced the album, which is a collection of partial songs by Bob Dylan that were never released.

The David Lynch Foundation's "Change Begins Within" benefit concert held at Carnegie Hall in New York City on November 5, 2015, to promote transcendental meditation for stress control. Jim James performed with Katy Perry, Sting, Jerry Seinfeld, Angelique Kidjo, and classical guitarist Sharon Isbin. Since each of the performers actively practice transcendental meditation, they also spoke about its awe.

In two episodes of Showtime's Roadies in 2016, James played himself and sang. He recorded his second solo album, Eternally Both, in November 2016.

A suite of songs co-written by James and Teddy Abrams for the Louisville Orchestra, which was performed by the Louisville Center for the Performing Arts on April 6 and 7. Uninit Distortion, James' third solo album of original material, was announced on June 17, 2018. The album's opener, "Just a Fool," was announced alongside the announcement of a single and music video. A letter sent by James to photographer Duane Michals requesting the use of his photograph "The Illuminated Man" for the album's cover art was also included in the story. In 1971's publication The Last Whole Earth Catalog, James found the photograph, which he said was a primary inspiration for the new album.

Fans of West Ham in Prague are heading to the Europa Conference League final

www.dailymail.co.uk, June 6, 2023
BHATIA IN PRAGUE: In anticipation of winning a commemoration for the London club's first major trophy in decades, the first of an estimated 25,000 ticketless West Ham supporters poured into Prague today on planes, trains, and by road. As a huge police operation swung into action, heavy rain sparked concerns that the supporters could find a fan zone set up for them to turn into a quagmire. Every plane into Prague was ladening with supporters, and Prague's center was turned into a clearet-and-blue zone.
