Adam Wade Gontier (born May 25, 1978) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and performer.
He is Saint Asonia's lead singer, rhythm guitarist, and chief songwriter, but he is best known as the former lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the Canadian rock band Three Days Grace.
On January 9, 2013, Gontier arrived in Three Days Grace.
He has been involved in other bands, including Art of Dying and Apocalyptica, in addition to his work with Three Days Grace.
Early life
Gontier was born in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, on May 25, 1978. He was born in Markham, Ontario. He returned to Peterborough, where he first attended Adam Scott Collegiate and Vocational Institute, only after his parents separated. In 1992, he moved to Norwood, CT, and met and befriended Three Days Grace members Neil Sanderson and Brad Walst.
Personal life
Gontier married Naomi Brewer in 2004. In 2013, the couple divorced. In March 2015, he married Jeanie Marie Larsen.
He began rehabilitating at the CAMH (Center for Addiction and Mental Health) in Toronto, where he wrote several of the One-X's songs, including "Never Too Late," which was co-written by Adam's ex-wife, Naomi Faith Brewer. Both Gontier and Brewer wrote the song's video, and she appears in the film as well. Gontier wrote "Pain," "Animal I Have Become," "Get Out Alive," "Over and Over," and "Gone Forever" when in CAMH in Toronto. In 2007, Behind the Pain, a docu-drama about his drug use, was released.
Gontier is a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Solo career
During his 2012 "Fall Like Rain" tour, Gontier joined singer and songwriter Martin Sexton on the road, giving him opening support as a solo artist. He appeared as a solo act on Citizen Cope for a few shows. Gontier, a solo artist, continued to perform shows and concerts as a solo artist. Several songs have been recorded, but not as singles. Gontier announced and launched his Adam Gontier Solo Live Tour in early March 2013.
