Early life
Banks was born in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, on May 3, 1978, to English parents. His father was a corporate worker for a car manufacturer, and his occupation demanded that their families relocate often. When Banks was three years old and immigrated to the United States, settling in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, he and his family left England. They migrated to Spain when he was 12 years old, and it was here that he studied at the American School of Madrid in Pozuelo de Alarcón before the family returned to the United States to settle in New Jersey. His father was later moved to Mexico, where Banks attended high school at the American School Foundation in Mexico City. During his time at the American School Foundation, Banks was involved in stage performances, as well as being the leading role in the musical South Pacific.
