Jason Reeves Life

Jason Bradford Reeves (born July 1, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist.

He grew up in Iowa City, Iowa, before relocating to California in 2005, where he began a long-term collaboration with producer Mikal Blue and singer Colbie Caillat.

He co-wrote several songs with Caillat, most notably "Bubbly," "Realize" and "I Never Told You."

Reeve's most commercial work to date, "Bubbly" has landed at #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts, #5 on the Hot 100, and the RIAA has rated Platinum (along with "Realize").

He has received awards from ASCAP, as a solo artist and also as a co-writer with other writers, including Australian artist Lenka, who wrote "The Show" in the series.

Before he signed to major label Warner Bros, he self-released four albums and an EP.

Records began in 2008 with Kara DioGuardi's assistance, and the label also released an album and an EP.

With The Lovesick, he released an album in 2011.

His work has earned him the honor of being named one of the Top Indie Singer-Songwriters by iTunes in 2007 and a No. 1 by Apple. Myspace has a 1st Folk Artist.

Early life

Jason Reeves was born in Arlington, Texas, and moved to Iowa City, Iowa, with his father, a Maytag/Whirlpool employee, and his mother, a food stylist/ice skating instructor. When Reeves was five years old, his mother began teaching piano lessons, which he continued for five years before he resigned. After the piano, he began taking drum lessons for a few years before settling on the guitar at 17 and teaching himself how to play. Around this time, he began listening to artists like Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, and James Taylor, which he later cite as personal influences.

Reeves, who attended Iowa City High School, was active with various choirs and vocal groups, as well as touring Europe with the Midwest Honor Choir in 2002. During this period, he also performed in a band with friends and produced his own full-length album for a local community music festival.

Personal life

Reeves is mostly interested in literature, photography, and illustration, and beyond that, there are other areas of interest for them. He has created the artwork for his own albums and is passionate about photographing people. Reeves, who spent years in Los Angeles, now lives in Nashville, Tennessee. Jason is married to fellow singer-songwriter Danelle Leverett, also known as Nelly Joy. Both were members of Gone West, the country band that disbanded in August 2020.

Jason Reeves Career

Music career

At the end of high school, reeves delved into musical recording, with his first album being a self-produced collection of about 200 copies. After graduating high school, he went to college at the University of Iowa's nearby University but then had to cancel due to a lack of enthusiasm. He continued to perform in music, appearing in local clubs and bars. He continued to perform in Iowa City for two years, and Ken Heaton, a local artist, has released two albums. Both of his albums, Makeshift Aircraft (2003) and Nervous Mind of Love (2004), were available at his shows as well as the independent online music store www.cdbaby.com.

Mikal Blue, a California producer who was interested in working together, had him around late 2004/early 2005. Blue's son, Anna Rambeau, who herself became aware of Reeves via cdbaby.com, became alert of Reeves. Reeves will be brought out to his California studio, Revolver, to record some tracks together, according to Blue. Reeves were accepted and flown out to Los Angeles, California, with the intention of recording and returning to Iowa.

Reeves arrived in California around February 2005 and began recording songs with Blue. Blue introduced Reeves, a young female singer with whom he was working, to Colbie Caillat, just short of arriving. Caillat and Reeves developed a quick friendship, and Caillat's family begged Reeves to stay with them during their recordings with Blue. Reeve's home was eventually returned to California rather than returning to Iowa, but not back to Iowa.

Caillat and Reeves formed a working team, performing together and co-writing several songs. Reeves was also added to Myspace, a social networking portal, used by Caillat to post music. Caillat and Reeves continued writing and posting songs to Myspace after the release of the Blue-produced EP Hearts Are Magnets in 2006. Hilary Duff's companion, Chasing The Sun, wrote Chasing The Sun.

Caillat's music on Myspace was gaining traction and attention, causing her to be named the No. 1 in the United States. On the website, there is only one unsigned artist on the site. This interest and the success of Myspace's "Bubbly" has culminated in a record deal for Caillat with Universal Republic Records. Caillat's debut album Coco was released in 2007, using Caillat's archive with Reeves. Reeves co-written ten songs on Mikal Blue's album. The Reeve co-write "Bubbly," the album's lead single, was a commercial hit, peaking at number five on the Billboard charts. Reeves' album "Realityize" was also a hit on the charts. Reeves and Caillat will eventually win three ASCAP awards for these two songs.

Reeves continued to work on his own music, and the album The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache (And Other Fearful Tales...), which was also produced by Mikal Blue, as well as two Lenka producer Stuart Brawley tracks. On iTunes, the album had modest success and debuted at No. 1 on the charts, debuting at No. 57. On iTunes, 2 became one of the top indie albums of the year. Since being named the site's No. 1, he also gained a following as an artist on Myspace. For nine months, there has been only one unsigned folk artist.

Reeves appeared at many shows around Los Angeles in 2007/2008, as well as at the Hotel Café. During a long car ride in Maine, Kara DioGuardi became aware of Jason Reeves after the album "The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache" was released. As the vice president of A&R at Warner Bros. Records, she called Reeves and introduced him to then-president Tom Whalley, who referred to Reeves as the label's vice president. Both DioGuardi and Reeves would perform together on music, most notably co-writing the song "Terrified" for which they would appear together on YouTube and Lopez Tonight. Didi Benami filmed the song on her ninth season of American Idol and Katharine McPhee's second album, Unbroken and featured vocals from Reeves.

With four remixed songs, Reeves' latest album, The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache, was re-released on Warner Bros. Records in 2008. Songs from that and previous albums will also be seen on television shows such as Army Wives and One Tree Hill around this time. Reeves have also begun touring around the country to help The Magnificent Adventures of Heartache with guitarist Tyrone Wells and others.

Reeves began working on an EP and then doing co-writing sessions with Colbie Caillat on her second album, Breakthrough, as well as writing sessions with other writers. He had more frequent bouts of touring, beginning with Brendan James and Amber Rubarth in May 2009, when the two couples explored the California coast on Vespa scooters while focusing on environmental friendliness. Reeve's EP Patience for the Waiting was released by Warner Bros. Records around the 2009 end of the year.

Reeves had completed content for a new album titled The Lovesick with producer Adam B Smith in Nashville in early 2010, but the album was suspended during Warner's change. When Bros Records CEO Tom Whalley resigned in September 2010, he said goodbye to the company. Colbie Caillat and Kara Diaguardi were among the album's collaborations. In July 2010, Warner Bros. Records will release "Helium Hearts," a track from the album, as a single. A music video was also released with the single. Reeves were sacked from Warner Bros. Records following Tom Whalley's departure, but his master tapes were allowed to preserve them. In August 2011, he self-released the album The Lovesick, a whole year after the initial single was released and nearly four years since his last full length album was released.

Reeves released Caged Birds Set Free, another EP that took us right back to the Magnificent Adventures of Heartache's acoustic styles. "New York in Wintertime" features Colbie Caillat's re-recorded "Wishing Weed" as a result of Colbie Caillat's recording as well as a song starring Kara DioGuardi.

Reeves has also worked as a co-writer, writing songs for Lenka, Angel Taylor, Demi Lovato, The JaneDear Girls, and the Japanese company Kimaguren. Reeves co-wrote "The Show"; the song "The Show" by artist Lenka did well, and has appeared in advertisements for Old Navy and Ugly Betty. In the films Moneyball and Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging, "The Show" was also included.

Reeves' latest full-length film Songs Are Silent Films came out on June 12, much later than expected on all digital stores. On several of the tracks, he collaborated with Nashville producer Adam Smith. After being refused by the Major Label, Jason begged fans to support the creation of his new album on pledgemusic.com. Pledgers are privileged to news about the album as well as a sample of the songs that will be released on the album.

About the new record, Reeves said, "There's a little bit of it." "It goes from a stripped-down acoustic to a full band." There are a few things on there that I've never tried before, but for the most part, it's a return to the way I've been doing it all along – just the acoustic, organic feel."

The album's first song, "Back With Me," was released on March 27 along with a YouTube video directed by Reeves. "You're My Best Friend" is Songs Are Silent Films' second promotional released song, and it was announced on April 17. Nelly Joy, who performed under her real name Danelle Leverett as one half of the JaneDear girls, appears in the first official single, "More In Love With You."

Reeves released the single "Vintage" from his new project High Dive Heart, a pop duo consisting of himself and Nelly Joy, who previously appeared under her real name Danelle Leverett in the JaneDear children's group the JaneDear girls, on April 21, 2015. High Dive Heart's first EP, Sonic Graffiti EP, was released on July 17, 2015.
