Career

At the age of 13, Gonzaga began working in local entertainment. It was in 1997 that she participated in a singing competition called "Metropop Star Search," which was later broadcast on GMA. Kyla and Faith Cuneta, two other Filipina singers, began their careers on the singing competition television show. Gonzaga won the tournament.

Gonzaga's biggest breakthrough in the entertainment industry was her Sprite TV commercial with Piolo Pascual in 2001. She released her eponymous debut album under Prime Music and "Paano," a cover of Gary Valenciano's, in the same year. She became one of the main hosts of Eat Bulaga's long-running afternoon variety show. She also performed "Doon," the title song of TAPE, Inc.'s afternoon TV drama starring Nadine Samonte and Oyo Boy Sotto, which starred StarStruck finalist Nadine Samonte and Oyo Boy Sotto. Angelika dela Cruz appeared in the primetime television series Habang Kapiling Ka in 2002. She joined Studio 23's Wazzup Wazzup in March 2004, as Archie Alemania and Vhong Navarro.

Gonzaga became a host of the Pinoy Big Brother series and the Sunday musical variety show ASAP in January 2005. She appeared as a lead in her first comedy-horror film, D' Anothers, in which Vhong Navarro was her love interest, was the same year. Toni: You Complete Me, her second album and first under Star Records, and she appeared in her first prime time drama series Crazy for You opposite Luis Manzano in 2006. Sam Milby's film You Are the One was released the same year in which she had been honoured by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Foundation, Inc. (GMMSF) the following year. Gonzaga's third studio album, Falling in Love and the film You Got Me!, was released in 2007. "Catch Me, Toni Gonzaga, First Major Concert" was her first solo major concert at the Aliw Theater in 2008, which was a repeat of the previous year. Following the success of her first big concert, she released Love Is, her fourth studio album... Later, she directed My Big Love, Sam Milby's third collaboration. She appeared in the film My Only Ü after the blockbuster team up and downs in Gonzaga and Milby.

Gonzaga appeared in a Valentine's Day Special episode of Maala Mo Kaya, the longest-running drama anthology on Philippine television and in Asia, in 2009. She was later cast in A Journey Home, the best film at the Gideon Flame Film Festival. Sam Milby's duet album was released later this month by Star Records. Gonzaga was once more teamed up with Sam Milby in the comedy film Ang Tanging Pamilya: A Marry Go Round, which featured Ai-Ai de las Alas and Former Philippine President Joseph Estrada as the main protagonists before the year ended. In 2010, she became a member of Entertainment Talk Show program The Buzz. My Amnesia Girl, the SM Cinema King, was Queen of 2010 alongside John Lloyd Cruz as the Box Office King. All Me, her 5th studio album, was widely distributed in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Korea, and Japan.

Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi, her first ever team up with Eugene Domingo, premiered in cinemas around the Philippines in August. Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Vhong Navarro, Pokwang, Vice Ganda, Sam Milby, her real-life sister Alex Gonzaga, and her special guest Gary Valenciano marked her 10th anniversary in the Philippine entertainment industry on September 30, 2011. The TAG Concept, the production and talent management company owned by the Gonzaga family, co-produced the show with Star Events and Epic Entertainment. In addition, she launched her Greatest Hits album, in which her singles from 2006 to 2010 were included.

Gonzaga appeared in the first-ever month-long special of Wansapanataym in March 2012. It aired four episodes.

The film is one of the highest-grossing Filipino films of all time, grossing P315 million in its third week in cinemas around the country. In addition, she was named Best Female TV Host for her program, ASAP 2012, by the PMPC Star Awards before 2012.

Gonzaga performed "Kahit Na" in the Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs competition on January 7, 2013, written by Jumbo "Bojam" De Belen. The competition attracted songwriters who collaborated with Filipino artists to produce new OPM songs. As it was selected as one of the 12 Grand Finalists, Star Records Inc. simultaneously promoted the album. The University of the Philippines produced the music video for the said song. During the grand finals on February 24 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, she performed the song. The song's writer also received the biggest P-pop Love Song award for Gonzaga's song, earning the artist a million dollars in cash.

Gonzaga has been named one of the country's top hosts of singing reality show The Voice of the Philippines in February 2013. Gonzaga performed in Four Sisters and a Wedding directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina as part of Star Cinema's 20th anniversary celebrations. Kwentong Buhay, sponsored by San Miguel Pure Foods, was also on the Sunday morning cooking competition, hosted by Kwentong Kusina, Kwentong Buhay. Gonzaga received the "Best Female Emcee" award at the 26th Aliw Awards on October 8, 2013. Gonzaga appeared in the popular film Starting Over Again in 2014, and also in Piolo Pascual and Iza Calzado. Celestine is her sixth studio album. Gonzaga appeared on Home Sweetie Home with John Lloyd Cruz on Saturday night. Continuing her album tours, she appeared on Myx as a Celebrity MYX VJ for the month of July, and the Mall of Asia Arena held Celestine Toni Gonzaga on October 3, 2014. She and her sister Alex Gonzaga were then cast in Team Gonzaga, a reality show that was exclusively seen in ABS-CBN Mobile. In Myx and YouTube, two songs "This Love Is Like" and "Awit ni Ginny" have been released.

Gonzaga appeared in Coco Martin's romantic comedy film You're My Boss in 2015. In April, she renewed her ABS-CBN deal and confirmed that she would continue her hosting duties in Pinoy Big Brother, which premiered on June 20, 2015.

Anne Curtis hosted I Love OPM, one of ABS-CBN's original reality show, I Love OPM, alongside Lani Misalucha and Martin Nievera as co-judges, in 2016.

Home Sweetie Home survived until its demise in 2020, when ABS-CBN halted its free-to-air broadcasting activities as ordered by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Solicitor General Jose Calida on May 5, 2020. Gonzaga retrenchment of ABS-CBN's franchise renewal by the Philippine House Committee's permanent denial of ABS-CBN's franchise renewal in July 2020, but she acknowledged the Congress's decision. Gonzaga resigned as the lead host of Pinoy Big Brother after 16 years (and eventually ABS-CBN), after moving to Bianca Gonzalez on February 9, 2022. According to news, she has attributed her resignation to political endorsements as Gonzaga had previously hosted the proclamation rally for the UniTeam Alliance, which also included an endorsement for Iglesia ni Cristo member and former senatorial candidate Rodante Marcoleta, a key figure in the ABS-CBN shutdown and franchise denial controversy. Gonzaga's resign from Pinoy Big Brother was recognized by ABS-CBN.
