Bang Yong-guk (born March 31, 1990) is a South Korean rapper, singer, guitarist, and record producer who served as the head of B.A.P. up until his departure from TS Entertainment in August 2018. He made his musical debut in 2008 as a member of an underground hip hop group called Soul Connection under the alias of "Jepp Blackman."

He appeared on Song Ji-eun's album "Going Crazy," which became a top-one hit in South Korea in March 2011.

In July of this year, he released his first solo digital single, "I Remember," starring BEAST's Yoseob, and in November, he promoted in a joint venture called Bang & Zelo with fellow B.A.P. member Zelo, releasing the single "Never Give Up."

In January 2012, B.A.P. released their first single.

Since posting his rap lyrics on an online forum and being acknowledged for his talent, Bang first started meeting with other Soul Connection members in his second year of middle school. He was able to refine his own techniques and become better at making his own style of music by speaking with seniors who were actually working in the music industry, listening them produce and produce, and learning from them.

After the duo Untouchable recommended Bang in 2010, TS Entertainment approached him to be a hip-hop idol group. Although he was worried that the kind of music he could make would be restricted, TS Entertainment assured him of being able to fulfill his dreams. He joined as a result.

Bang's single "Going Crazy" was announced on March 3, 2011. Bang's "husky and fiery presentation" was a commercial and critical success, with fans raving about the single. Bang as an entertainer debuted on major portal search pages in South Korea and was booked for multiple broadcast appearances, and it topped the Gaon Music Chart and Gaon Digital and Streaming Chart, gaining a following; following the single's introduction, it became a hot topic on major portal search pages in South Korea and was pushed for multiple broadcast appearances. However, his company denied these appearances, claiming that he was still a student and not keen to appear on televisions outside of promotional duties. Fans of the agency also expressed appreciation for their support.

Bang's single "I Remember" was released by TS Entertainment on August 11, starring Yoseob of Beast. The album was a moderate success, debuting in the Top 10 on real time charts in Korea and at #22 on the Gaon Chart. However, the single was also unsuitable for broadcast advertisements by KBS due to several scenes of shootings and violence.

Bang debuted with Zelo on December 11, a member of the sub-unit rap group Bang&Zelo, with the single "Never Give Up" appearing on the album.

Bang was the first member of the newly formed TS Entertainment boy group B.A.P., of which he acts as both the leader and main rapper. In January 2012, the group unveiled "Warrior," its first single. On January 28, the festival held their first showcase in Seoul, drawing over 3,000 people. The single received critical acclaim, with media outlets describing it as "powerful and charismatic."

Bang performed on the 2013 SBS Gayo Daejeon as part of a joint hip-hop festival starring Tiger JK, Yoon Mirae, and Bizzy, as well as Zico, RM, and Eun Jiwon.

All B.A.P members had filed a lawsuit against their brand to nullify their positions, alleging discrimination and profit splitting.

The group entered a hiatus

Bang released "AM 4:44," a solo album during the hiatus on April 4, 2015.

B.A.P had signed an agreement with and returned to TS Entertainment on August 1, 2015. B.A.P. made their comeback in November 2015 with the mini-album Matrix, which was designed and written by Bang.

Bang will not be participating in the promotions for B.A.P.'s forthcoming full-length album, Noir, on October 25, 2016.

B.A.P.'s six-city 'Party Baby-Boo Boom' tour began in April 2017. Bang rose from hiatus to join the majority of the boys in the single's "Wake Me Up" promotion.

Bang released "Yamazaki" solo on July 4, 2017. The track featured lyrics in English, Japanese, and Korean. Bang's solo instrumental track "Portrait," co-directed alongside Joe Brown, was released on April 25, 2018. Bang's official music video of his solo album titled "Drunkenness" was released on May 25, 2018. Yoo Youngjae's falsetto vocals appear in this album, as well as other band members. Joe Brown co-directed the music video.

Following Bang's employment with TS Entertainment on August 19, 2018, he decided to leave the company; B.A.P. will continue as 5 members until all member contracts have expired; after which all members did not want to re-sign with TS Entertainment, they went their separate ways.

Following Bang's departure from TS Entertainment, he unveiled the MV for single "Hikikomori," a exploration of his own anxiety and concerns facing both the stage and the world itself, with the word taken from Japanese slang for'shut-ins' that refuse to go outside due to various stressors.

Bang released "A Short Film About Bang Yongguk] on February 26, 2019, which included the pre-release track "Journey"), to announce his forthcoming self-titled solo album. Bangyongguk, a 13-track album, was released on March 15, 2019 with lead singer "Ya." A MV was shot on "Ya," but Bang later announced that he had decided to "indefinitely postpone" the release due to a variety of reasons. Re-masters of "AM 4:44" and "Portrait," as well as "Xie" and a remixed version starring Sway D, Liquor, and rapper LE of girl group EXID are among the other tracks on "Bang YongguK."

Bang's photo essay book "The Best Is Yet To Come" is the best seller on Korean charts as of June 24, 2019.

Following up, he gave the single "Orange Drive" as a gift and note to fans ahead of his mandatory enlistment period of two years.

On August 1, 2019, Bang enlisted in the Korean military as a public service officer.

Bang revealed on September 2, 2019 via Consent that "Something to Talk About," a documentary he had produced in collaboration with producer Kim Jinbeom, had been selected for screening at the 2019 DMZ International Film Festival. "Something to Talk About" was also nominated under the DMZ Open Cinema category. "Something to Talk About" is Bang's first documentary to be produced by an idol, focusing on Bang's experiences as a member of B.A.P as well as his recording process when recording "BANGYONGGUK" and including interviews with friends and families.

On May 18, 2021, he officially concluded his military service.

Bang founded his one-man operation Consent on September 16, 2021.

Bang released the new single "Race" on November 23, 2021. It was his first return to work for him as a member of his own one-man team.

Bang's first EP, 2nd, and its lead single "Up" were released on March 2, 2022.
