Career beginnings
At the 2002 Mnet Music Video Festival, his first musical appearance was when he was 12 years old when he performed "FEVER" with Jo-PD & Hype.
When Dok2 turned 13 years old, he joined Future Flow Entertainment. He had written and performed songs for well-known Korean hip hop bands, including Drunken Tiger, Dynamic Duo, and Epik High by the time he was out of his teens.
The album Chapter 1 was released in 2006 under the banners All Black, Dok2, and fellow teen rapper Microdot.
Thunderground, his first solo mini-album, defunct Map the Soul's now defunct Map the Soul brand, was released in 2009.
Dok2 and rapper The Quiett formed Illionaire Records in 2011. Despite its small size, Illionaire Records is one of South Korea's most popular hip hop record labels due to its artists' success. Ambition Musik was also founded under the name.
He rose to fame thanks to his album "Multillionaire" and his single "1llusion," both of which reached their highest peak on South Korea's music charts. GroovyRoom, G-Dragon, and Kim Junsu have all worked with other artists outside of the label, including GroovyRoom, G-Dragon, and Kim Junsu.
Dok2 resigned as CEO of the organization in November of 2018 and relaunched operations in the United States in November. In 2019, he revealed the creation of the company "PO$TA BOY$" with Tyga, which later became Illionaire Records on February 6, 2020.
Dok2 revealed that he had signed with Tyga's Last Kings Records in April of 2021.
Dok2 was a judge on the third season of the TV Rap competition Show Me the Money, where he and The Quiett were the producers behind winning contestant Bobby of the band iKon. They appeared in the show's fifth season as the creators of Superbee, who finished third in third place. Dok2 made his appearance in Season 6 as part of a producer team with Jay Park (AOMG and H1GHR Music).
