Yoo Young-jae (born January 24, 1994), also known as Youngjae, is a South Korean musician and actor.

He debuted as an idol in the B.A.P. under TS Entertainment, where he served as the principal vocalist from 2012 to its dissolution in 2019.

In April, he unveiled his debut mini-album Fancy.

Early life

Yoo was born in Bangbae-dong, Seoul's Seocho District, on January 24, 1994. He is the second and younger son of his father and a fashion brand business-owning mother. He lived in a wealthy household before the 1997 Asian financial crisis; his family suffered financially afterwards. They were housed in a container house for a short period of time until his father moved away. Yoo and his mother lived in a Yongin villa, where they then moved to a basement apartment in Seoul. He spent his youth playing video games and aspired to become a pro-gamer in sixth grade. Yoo performed during a talent show with a group of friends in his second year of middle school; he said the cheers for a new show were "just for me." He began attending music lessons every year.

As a high school student, Yoo auditioned for many music companies. He became a JYP Entertainment trainee and was due to debut in a company at the time after tens months of communication. He left the company a year later for "personal reasons." He auditioned for TS Entertainment and was hired shortly after.

On January 18, 2012, Yoo was identified as the main vocalist in the B.A.P. The band debuted with its single album Warrior eight days later. The corporation filed a lawsuit against its government in November 2014. Members wanted to cancel their deal with the company, citing "unfair labor and profit dispersion" as reasons for the decision. The two parties eventually agreed and B.A.P. recommenced its operations under TS Entertainment in August of the following year. Following the expiration of their employment, Yongguk and Zelo left the company and their name in August and December 2018. Yoo and the remaining three members of the company were dismissed in February 2019, causing the break of B.A.P.

Yoo's solo music will be released on a new record label. On April 19, he debuted his debut mini-album Fancy. Yoo was cast as the lead role in JTBC's app drama series Kim Seul Gi Genius as the lead protagonist. The app was released on iOS and Android, and the first episode was made available to watch on May 18, 2019. In November 2019, it will be available for streaming. Yoo also appeared on 'Mileage Soccer', a TvN D's variety show, where actors competed with various soccer teams in Korea to raise funds for charity.

Yoo has signed a exclusive deal with a new company, DMost Entertainment, was revealed on August 29, 2019. Yoo will continue to pursue music as well as acting and variety under DMOST Entertainment. Yoo was in his first major television role in the KBS drama Woman of 9.9 billion, which debuted in November. In addition, Yoo appeared in his first OST for the drama. " " is a reversal of Kim Kwang Seok's song of the same name.

On October 22, Yoo made his comeback with his second mini-album O,on.

Fans speculated that Yoo had ended his deal with DMost Entertainment after his image had been taken down from the company's official website in March 2020. After fans contacted the company, it was reported that he had ended his employment with them. Yoo was then represented again by JWorld Entertainment, his one-man company.

Yoo had been accepted in tvN's historical comedy drama Mr. Queen through an official audition process in June 2020. On December 12, 2020, the drama premiered.

Yoo would make his debut on the big screen with Sing a Song, where he would be playing Hyun-do, a teen from an upper family who prefers pop music over classical music.

Yoo signed a deal with Forstar Company on March 14, 2022, which will continue to assist him in his acting career.

Yoo has since worked on stage, appearing in films including Police University, as Jo Joon-wook, and Mimicus as Han You-Sung.
