When O'Day was four, she was at a performance of The Nutcracker and began to weep, according to her mother. When she asked what was wrong, she said, "I'm sad that I'm sitting here and not on stage." She volunteered for The Pink Project (a charity photobook promoting RAINN and the Los Angeles Breast Cancer Alliance) and helped victims of Hurricane Katrina's devastation. Aubrey O'Day Career

Career

O'Day was discovered on the MTV reality show Making the Band 3 in 2004 and emerged as the show's breakout star. Blender magazine contacted O'Day to pose for their September 2005 issue during Season 2 of Making the Band 3. In beating out nearly 10,000 girls for the opportunity of singing and strutting in a P. Diddy-steered girl group, the contestant was referred to as the "who bared calm resolve and tanned hip bones." O'Day expressed reservations about being in the club. "I've been in the 'cut' situation several times," she said. "It's impossible to sit in a room and know that the dream I want is all in [Combs'] hands." In order to participate in the tournament, O'Day had dropped out of college.

After watching her perform her "Black in her family," Combs was convinced that O'Day had "Black in her family" and expressed this feeling even more after learning she sang a version of "At Last" at a club during Season 1 of the show. Judges and followers love her because it was along with what viewers saw as natural charisma, which led to her to be a regular favorite among judges and followers. Johnny Wright, a former Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync judge, revealed that from her first audition in Los Angeles, she knew she was "a celebrity."

O'Day was eventually accepted to participate in the group and became the first to be included. Danity Kane became a band in the United States, and their first album, which debuted on August 22, 2006, was at number one on the Billboard 200 charts. On the US leg of the Back to Basics Tour with the Pussycat Dolls, Christina Aguilera was the opening act for the company.

O'Day's fame and physical appearance, which were found in magazines, helped her expand her work outside of the organization. She appeared on several "sex" magazine covers in addition to other musical projects. Combs called O'Day "one of the worst dancers" in Danity Kane on August 28, 2008, after being consistently dissatisfied with O'Day's "oversexed" new appearance. He told O'Day that he no longer looked like the guy he signed and that she used to be one of the best in the world. Combs smackingly accused O'Day of increasing her fame at the expense of the entire company, as well as the fact that she shaved her cleavage on the arm of a television presenter. He wondered why he was keeping O'Day in the company.

Combs announced that O'Day is no longer a member of Danity Kane on October 7, 2008, during a continuing discussion with O'Day about the company's well-being. Bad Boy Records' official announcement, on the other hand, was not made. When asked by Boston Herald whether she was still in the company, O'Day was hesitant to answer, adding, "I can't comment on anything."

Combs' firing O'Day was a ratings tactic, and he had no intention of dismissing her completely. O'Day will still refer to herself as a "member of a girl band" and "the official party girl of Danity Kane" when discussing her career. However, O'Day's departure from the band, as well as bandmate and then-best friend D. Woods, was announced on the October 14, 2008 episode of Making the Band. Combs explained in the live segment that the reason he let O'Day go was because she was not the same person he signed and that the celebrity had changed her. "I would rather be ashamed every single day of my life for being authentic than loved for being something I'm not." In a backstage interview before the finale, she said: 'I'm proud of you.'

MTV News monitored fan reactions to O'Day and Woods' dismissals. Fans of MTV News' website expressed their dissatisfaction with the company's breakup. The 2009 season of Making the Band was supposed to feature new members of the O'Day and Woods in Danity Kane as "replacements" for the group, but instead the group's official ended. The complete breakup of the group was deemed by O'Day and Woods, as well as group member Shannon Bex, who declined the opportunity to return to the series and the organization. O'Day, who later stated that she was uncertain if Woods had been asked back, she was not asked to return and that she later denied it. If given, O'Day said she would have returned and is not opposed to returning. In the April 16, 2009 episode of Making the Band, she was officially suspended from her Bad Boy Records contract by Combs.

O'Day returned with three former members of the company on the evening of the show on April 23, 2009, to address any rumors regarding the company's breakup. She has expressed gratitude for the company's demise, as well as others who blamed her for the company's demise. O'Day and the group's other four members would be returning as Danity Kane, according to Combs.

Amber Von Tussle first appeared in the Broadway musical Hairspray on July 18, 2008. She appeared in the 2009 comedy American High School costarring Nikki Ziering and then appeared in Jerry Mitchell's musical Peepshow in the role of "Peep Diva" at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, from September 2009 to late December 2009. In addition, O'Day was featured on the Donnie Wahlberg hit "I Got It." She performed a remastered version of Sharam's remix on "Party All the Time" and released a track titled "Never Fallin."

O'Day's final of Making the Band on April 23, 2009, she announced that she will have her own reality television show for which she will film in the spring of 2010. All About Aubrey, the Oxygen Network's flagship series, premiered on March 7, 2011. The Adonis-produced "Automatic" & O'Day's debut single, "Automatic," was released on April 12, 2011 and has sold 50,000 copies to date, achieving the top 20 on iTunes pop charts in less than 2 hours. O'Day's debut album on SRC/Universal Motown, which was supposed to be released in late 2012.

O'Day was also fired from NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice 5, which premiered on February 19, 2012. O'Day received a lot of flak about her behaviour when competing on the show, being described as "narcissistic, self-centered, dangerous, and vicious" by the media and viewers of the show, as "transparent" by Trump's judges, prior to being banned. Arsenio Hall was eventually compelled to speak out against her in the show's boardroom segment, berating her with his unwavering support of his team, especially Clay Aiken. This left O'Day in tears and contemplating quitting the show before being fired by Trump. O'Day ultimately decided not to resign, but it was dismissed shortly thereafter. Despite accepting Hall's apology, she has voiced her disapproving of him in various confessionals, referring to him and Aiken as "bullies." However, the contestants praised her ingenuity and leadership skills, and she finished in third place, becoming the last female contestant standing. She was dismissed because she was young and inexperienced, but also because John Rich and Marlee Matlin, Trump's viceroys, were seen as fair, which was also shown as transparent by them.

"Wrecking Ball," co-written and co-produced by American Idol alumni Pia Toscano, was released on iTunes on April 23, 2012, and it sold over 3,000 copies in the first week. She shot a video for the track with music producer Rage in June 2012 and it was released on Vevo on September 26, 2012.

In 2012, O'Day announced that she would release her debut solo album. In Las Vegas, she performed previously unveiled songs from her EP "Love Me When You Leave," "Let Me Lay," and "Before I Drown" on December 31, 2012. "Automatic" and "Before I Drown" on The CW's Oh Sit! O'Day performed her singles in June 2013 on "Before I Drown." During Chicago's Pride Fest, she also performed. After topping the iTunes US Dance Chart on pre-order sales alone and ranking #5 on the iTunes US Pop Chart, "Between Two Evils" was released on iTunes on August 13, 2013.

Danity Kane's rumors that reuniting in mid-2013 were widespread. Danity Kane appeared at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards (without D. Woods, who did not return to the company), announcing that they were back together on August 25, 2013. The band's third and final album, "DK3," is set to be released shortly. Shannon Bex and O'Day Bex are set to split again soon.

O'Day and Bex announced their duo music project, Dumblonde, with the same manager as the Danity Kane band Johnny Wright in early 2015. After never facing the public vote and finishing in fifth place, she returned to reality television in August 2016.

O'Day's single "Body Love High" debuted on July 7, 2021.
