Tiziano Ferro (Italian pronunciation: [tittsja]; born 21 February 1980) is an Italian singer, songwriter, producer, and author. He broke through in 2001 with his international hit single "Perdono" and has maintained good sales since then, in many countries. Ferro has released a Spanish version of each of his albums, as well as English, Portuguese, and French. He is known as the modern face of Italian pop music, and he has written for other artists as well as produced albums for Giusy Ferreri, Alessandra Amoroso, and Baby K.
Ferro is best known for his personal struggles aside from his artistic success. He has been outspoken about his food addiction and eating disorders as a youth. Ferro came out as gay in October 2010, but he suffered with depression linked to self-acceptance of his homosexuality.
Ferro is now one of Italy's best-selling musicians. Both his third album Nessuno solo and fourth album Alla mia età were certified diamond. Despite his doubts, his coming out did not have a negative effect on his career, as his fifth album L'amore è una cosa semplice was the best-selling album of 2012 in Italy, and his first greatest hits album was backed by a stadium tour. Ferro has sold more than 15 million copies around the world as of 2015.
Personal life
Ferro was diagnosed with depression in 2008 and began taking antidepressants. He came close to suicide in late 2009, going so far as to write a suicide note. His desperation in early 2010 led him to his departure and to the assistance of his father, Trent'anni e una papà (Thirty years old and a chat with dad). The bulk of his personal diaries, which were not published in October 2010, were dutifully stored since his teen years. Its unveiling was preceded by an interview with Vanity Fair in which he announced his homosexuality to the public. Ferro moved back to Italy to be closer to his friends and family members over the next year.
Ferro announced his engagement to former Warner Bros. consultant Victor Allen in 2019. The two were married in Sabaudia, a comune of Latium's Latina province. In a letter sent to the Correy, he said that he regards himself as both "gay and Catholic." Ferro and Allen were proclaimed fathers to two children, a baby, and a boy, on February 28, 2022.
