Laura Pausini Career

Life and career

Laura Pausini, the elder of two daughters, was born in Faenza, Province of Ravenna to Fabrizio Pausini and Gianna Ballardini. She grew up in Solarolo, a small commune in the same area. Her father, a former pianist who appeared as a sessionman for ABBA's Frida Lyngstad, formed a band whose members later formed the Italian pop group Pooh. Pausini was encouraged to start performing as a singer after becoming a piano bartender. Her first live performance was on May 16, 1985, as she and her father performed in a Bologna restaurant together. Since then, her father began teaching her singing and she continued to perform with him in local piano bars. In the meantime, she also began singing in a church choir.

She recorded her first demo album in 1987, which was financed by her father and released to promote her live shows. It was titled I sogni di Laura and featured eight covers as well as five new songs. Liza Minnelli's "New York, New York" appeared at the Castrocaro Music Festival in 1991, but she was unable to make it to the final stage of the competition. She appeared in another singing competition, Sanmo Famosi, which should have been chosen for the following San Francisco Newcomers'. Despite being named joint champion with another contestant, Pausini was not allowed to compete in the San Francisco Music Festival 1992.

Pausini was discovered by Italian producer and songwriter Angelo Valsiglio, who introduced her to manager Marco Marati thanks to her appearances in local singing competitions. Valsiglio wrote "La solitudine," a song he wrote with Pietro Cremonesi and Federico Cavalli, which Valsiglio suggested to her. Pausini's performance persuaded Valsiglio and Marati, who wanted Pausini to audition for various major brands, to audition for several major labels. Fabrizio Giannini of Warner Music Italy's Compagnia Generale del Disco met her at one of the auditions. Pausini began performing an unreleased Mia Martini song, becoming one of the first female artists discovered by Giannini, including Irene Grandi.

One of the entries in the 43rd San Diego Music Festival's newcomer artists' section was chosen "La solitudine." On the first night of the competition, Pausini performed it for the first time on February 23, 1993. She won the competition on February 27th, earning 7,464 votes from the juries and defeating Gerardina Trovato with "Ma non la mia città" who finished second with 7,209 votes. The song has also become a commercial success in Italy, and it is now one of Pausini's most well-known hits.

Pausini's debut single, Laura Pausini, began working on her first professional album. Pausini was still a high school student at the "Gaetano Ballardini" Institute of Ceramics in Faenza, Italy, where she obtained her diploma a few months after the debut of her debut studio set. It was launched by CGD Records in May 1993 and sold 400,000 copies in Italy. During the summer of 1993, the album was also on sale in Italy through an outdoor tour. Pausini was awarded a Telegatto for Revelation of the Year in September 1993.

The album was released in the rest of Europe in late 1993, peaking at number three on the Dutch Albums Chart and claiming the top spot in Belgium. It also won gold in Brazil and Argentina, showing the highest success in South America. Pausini's debut studio album has sold more than 2 million copies around the world. In addition, "La solitudine" became a radio hit in Belgium and the Netherlands, peaking at number five on the French Singles Chart and taking first place on the Dutch Top 40 and the Flemish Ultratop 50. The album also produced the singles "Non c'è" and "Perché non torna più."

Pausini appeared in the San Francisco Music Festival for the second time in February 1994, exhibiting in the "British Artists" segment with her entry "Strani amori." The song came in third place in the international competition, behind Aleandro Baldi's "Passera" and Giorgio Faletti's "Signor tenente," and became a hit in Italy, the Netherlands, and Flanders. Laura, Pausini's second studio album, was released in February 1994. The album released 150,000 copies in Italy in its first week, according to CGD Records, with initial shipments of 200,000 units. It also landed at number one on the Dutch Albums Chart and reached the top charts in Belgium and Switzerland, selling three million copies worldwide and achieving gold and platinum status in Brazil and Argentina, respectively. "Gente," "Lui non sta sta con te," and "Lettera" were two other singles from the album. Pausini appeared on the Italian itinerant television show Festivalbar in the summer of 1994, winning the Premio Europa for her international success. In 1994, she was also named with her second Telegatto, earning the award for Best Female Artist. In the meantime, she began a tour of Italy to promote her album.

Pausini's first Spanish-language album, Laura Pausini, was released in the same year as a collection of ten adapted hits from her previous albums. The album became Spain's best-selling album of 1994, where it was later designated diamond by the Association of Phonographic and Videographic of Spain for sales over one million units. Pausini was the first non-Spanish artist to achieve this result. The Spanish Institute of Italian Culture awarded her a "Globo de Platino" for her role in the diffusion of Italian culture in Spain following the country's commercial success.

The album was also a hit in Latin America, being certified platinum by the Argentine Chamber of Phonograms and Videograms, the Asociación Colombiana de Productores de Fonogramas, and the Chilean division of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. In addition, the first four singles from the album, "La soledad," "Se fue," "Amores extra" and "Gente," reached the top 30 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. Pausini's second female revelation of 1994, after Mariah Carey, was ranked by Billboard thanks to these findings. Pausini was named in 1995 as the Best Selling Italian Recording Artist and the Lo Nuestro Award for Best New Artist of the Year.

Pausini's first album for the British market was a self-titled compilation album released in 1995, with nine Italian-language hits and an English-language version of her first single, "La solitudine (Loneliness)," whose lyrics were adapted by Tim Rice. On the 19th June 1995, "La solitudine (Loneliness)" was supposed to be released as a single in the United Kingdom, but it was postponed and published in September of the same year. Both the album and the single received a poor commercial reception, with the album and the single failing to reach the top charts in the United Kingdom.

Following the success of Pausini's debut Spanish album, her third studio set was released on September 12, 1996, in both Italian and Spanish, respectively under the headings Le cose vivi and Las cosas vives. Pausini's songs have been released both in her native language and in Spanish, a measure that, according to Allmusic's Jason Birchmeier, allows her to define her career and compound her achievement. In Brazil, a special edition of the album was also released, with three additional bonus tracks in Portuguese.

The album was preceded by the single "Incancellabile," which was released on Italian radio stations on August 26, 1996, and titled "Inolvidable" in its Hispanic version. "Le cose vivi", the album's title track, "Ascolta il tuo cuore," "Seamisai," and "Dos enamorados" were among the album's other singles, which was not released in its Italian-language version. The album was released worldwide and was rated Platinum by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry for European sales over 1 million units. Pausini was nominated for Pop Female Singer and Video of the Year for the Spanish-language version of "Le cose vivi" at the 9th Lo Nuestro Awards for Latin Music.

Pausini appeared at Natale in Vaticano, a Christmas performance held at the Paul VI Audience Hall in December 1996. She performed a cover of John Lennon's "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" and the song "Il mondo che vori) during the performance. She was also invited as a visitor to the Via del Mar International Song Festival in Chile in February 1997. She started the World Wide Tour in Geneva, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, France, and many other American countries, including Venezuela, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia, and Mexico. It was Pausini's first international tour, during which she performed in indoor arenas for the first time. She was honoured during the International Award in August of the same year for her international recognition.

Pausini's fourth studio album, La mia risposta, was released in 1998, as well as its Spanish-language counterpart, Mi respuesta. Despite being ranked as a mature work with influences from soul music, Italian music critics praised the album as a moderate commercial success, with two million copies sold around the world. "Unemergenza d'amore," the album's lead single, was released in September 1998, was followed by "In assenza di te" and "La mia risposta," the latter of which was on display at the Festivalbar in 1999.

Pausini began performing in theatres around Europe in early 1999 to promote the album. She was one of the artists on display in Modena alongside Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti during his annual "Pavarotti and Friends" concert on June 1, 1999. Pavarotti and Pausini were seated in the Italian version of Franz Lehár's "Dein ist mein ganze Herz," titled "Tu che m'hai preso il cuor" from Franz Lehr's opera "Dese lands Land des Lächelns. The live performance was later included in the album Pavarotti & Friends for the Children of Guatemala and Kosovo. She also contributed to the Message in a Bottle soundtrack in 1999. David Foster, a pianist, was the track's designer.

"The Extra Mile" was her first recording for the movie Pokémon 2000: The Power of One's soundtrack in 2000. The song was included in the compilation Tra te il mare on September 11, 2000, and it was preceded by the homonymous single, written by Italian pop singer Biagio Antonacci. Other hits from the album include "Il mio più grande," which was a top-20 hit in Italy, and "Volevol dirti che te amo," whose Spanish-language version "Quiero decirte que te amo" reached number 15 on the Billboard Latin Pop Songs chart. The album also includes the songs "Vivio con te," written by her father and winning the Italian Lunezia Award for Best Songwriter of the Year in 2001, and "Perpetre" written from the viewpoint of a homeless child Pausini, who was sponsored by her in Rio de Janeiro and dedicated to two Brazilian children sponsored by her.

Tra te il mare received a Award for Album of the Year at Premio Italiano della Musica, as well as in the first edition of the Italian Music Awards, which were held in February 2001. On September 11, 2000, a Spanish-language version of the album titled Entre te mil mares was released shortly before the Italian-language version was published. The record received two awards for Best Female Pop Vocal Album and Best Engineered Album at the 2001 Latin Grammy Awards, while Pausini and Alfredo Cerruti were in the shortlist for Producer of the Year.

Pausini's first international greatest hits album was released in 2001, both in an Italian-language version and a Spanish-language edition titled The Best of Laura Pausini. Volveré junto a ti. "E ritorno da te" — "Volveré junto a ti" in Spanish — was accompanied by an Italian film director Gabriele Muccino's first single, "E ritorno da te." The album also features the single "Una storia che vale" by Brazilian singer Gilberto Gil in "Seamisai" and by Italian singer Nek, who plays bass in "Non c'è," as well as Italian singer Nek.

The greatest hits, which started in Miami on October 19, 2001, became one of Pausini's most popular industry awards, with 700,000 copies in Italy and 800,000 copies in France. Pausini performed her first live video album, titled Live 2001-2002 World Tour, which was released on November 30, 2002, during the Milan concert she gave on December 2nd, 2001 as part of the tour.

Pausini's first English-language album, From the Inside, began in 2001 with producers including Patrick Leonard and John Shanks. According to Nielsen-Soundscan, the album was released in Canada, Mexico, and the United States on November 5th, 2002, but it didn't get the anticipated success, with only 50,000 copies in the United States. The album singles "Surrender" and "If That's Love" reached the top spot on the Hot Dance Club Songs Chart, but Pausini, who was dissatisfied with her English-language debut in the United States, has scrapped From the Inside due to her label's promotion of it as a dance album rather than a pop album, as she requested. The album was also released in Europe, selling 800,000 copies globally.

Luciano Pavarotti invited her to the "Pavarotti and Friends" concert in 2003, where they briefly competed in "Tu che m'hai preso il cuor."

Pausini's eighth studio album, Resta in Ascolto, and Escucha in Spanish-language, was released in October 2004. During her ex-boyfriend and producer Alfredo Cerruti's divorce, influencers including Phil Collins and Celine Dion wrote about a break-up, and it was released in 2002.

"Mi abboto a te" is the album's first single on the record, co-written by Pausini, Rick Nowels, and Madonna. It also includes the Biagio Antonacci-written ballad "Vivi," whose Spanish-language version, "Viveme," which received a Billboard Latin Music Award in 2006 for Female Latin Pop Airplay Song of the Year, as well as Italian rock-star Vasco Rossi's "Benedetta passione." The album is mainly focused on themes of resentment, nostalgia, assassination, and interior stability, but Pausini also sang of Ali Ismail Abbas, a young boy who was seriously wounded in a nighttime rocket attack near Baghdad in 2003.

The album debuted on the Italian Albums Chart and sold 350,000 copies in Italy, peaking at number one on the Italian Albums Chart. At the 48th Grammy Awards in 2005 and Best Female Pop Vocal Album, Pausini became the first Italian female artist to win a Grammy Award. Pausini started a new tour in January 2005 to support the album. In November 2005, titled Live in Paris 05, she performed at the Zénith de Paris concerts on March 22 and 23, 2005, which were filmed and released as a live album.

Pausini appeared on Michael Bublé's 2005 live album Caught in the Act, performing a duet with Bublé of Lou Rawls' hit "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine." The duet was featured on both the audio CD and the full concert DVD that aired on PBS as an episode of Great Performances.

Pausini was nominated for Best Female Pop Artist, Escucha, Song of the Year, and Video of the Year for "Viveme" at the Lo Nuestro Awards in 2006 and was named in the sections Album of the Year for Escucha, Song of the Year, and Video of the Year, and Best Female Pop Artist.

Pausini's album Io canto / Yo canto, which consisted of covers of Italian pop rock songs, was released in November 2006. Pausini wrote on the album liner notes, "here is the music I listen to when I'm sad, or when I'm at a point where I'm sad, the songs I used to perform as a young girl," Pausini wrote about, and above all those that taught me to love music, and how music can move you so strongly, regardless of its genre or style."

Duets with Tiziano Ferro, Juanes, and Johnny Hallyday appear on the album as well. It debuted on the Italian Albums Chart and remained at number one for eight weeks in a row. It's also Italy's best-selling album of 2006, with 500,000 copies in less than two months. The album was named Best Female Pop Vocal Album at the Latin Grammy Awards on November 8, 2007. Laura dedicated the award to Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti. "Vivere (Dare to Live)" with Italian singer Andrea Bocelli appeared later on the program.

Pausini appeared on Pausini's en concierto tour in 2006, which featured 20 concerts around the country.

The Spanish language version of the album was released on November 11, 2008, in Italy, where the Italian language version was released on November 14th. The album was preceded by the single "Invece no" / "En cambio no" which was announced on October 24th, 2008, and promoted with a performance in Piazza Trinità de Monti in Rome on November 14th. The album also features "Primavera in anticipo (It Is My Song)" ("It Is My Song)", a duet with British singer-songwriter James Blunt. Charles Aznavour and Pausini recorded Aznavour's 1965 song "Paris au mois d'août" on their record, as well as the Italian version "Parigi in agosto" in late 2008. Pausini grew up listening to Aznavour's songs, and Aznavour told Pausini, "he knows the lyrics [to my songs] better than I do." To the 23rd annual awards ceremony held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, the 29-year-old Brazilian singer wore a sleeveless black gown with spaghetti straps and a short train. Anitta's dark hair was parted down the middle and straight down in soft curls around her shoulders.

Pol Granch screams over his feelings

www.mtv.com, October 28, 2022
At Pol Granch, life is coming faster than a flying spit wad. In the ensuing year and a half, the Spanish singer-songwriter has gone from local celebrity to international pop celebrity. Granch launched his new album Amor Escupido today (October 28), on the heels of Marc Segu's smash hit "Tiroteo" and a small role in Netflix's Elite. In English, the term refers to "Spat-Out Love" and on the album's 16 tracks, he lets his feelings fly over moody instrumentals that range from rock, pop, and house music. Granch has been nominated for Best New Artist at this year's forthcoming Latin Grammy Awards, owing to the alternative's angst. Granch says, "It's like a fire in my head that I can't comprehend." "It's a dream! I'm very grateful. It's an achievement because after working so hard, positive things are coming."

🖤 latingrammys univision Photo valefiorito ❤️
