Internationally, she is best known for her 1987 single "Boys (Summertime Love)", which topped the charts in France and Switzerland, and peaked at No. 3 in the UK.

The song was accompanied by a provocative music video, which established Sabrina's image as a sex symbol.

Sabrina Salerno Career

Career

Sabrina began modeling in Liguria, and it was in 1984 that she first appeared on Canale 5 in Italy. Her debut single, "Sexy Girl," was released in 1986, sung in English. It was a modest international success, and it was produced by Claudio Cecchetto. Sabrina, she's first studio album, was mainly in English, and she released it in late 1987. In addition to "Sexy Girl," the album featured her international breakthrough hit "Boys (Summertime Love) (Number 1 in France and Switzerland, as well as top 5 in more than ten countries;) and "Hot Girl," a Top 20 hit in several European countries. "Boys" came to fame thanks to its famous film, which contained sexually suggestive scenes. To date, the song has sold more than 1.5 million copies around the world, and it remains Sabrina's most popular hit.

Sabrina received the "Best European Singer" award at the Festivalbar event in 1988. Stock Aitken Waterman's single "All of Me (Boy Oh Boy)" enjoyed another European summer hit. Matt Aitken lauded Sabrina's appearance in the studio, saying that "as a singer she was really good," but that "did not fulfill the promise that was awaited" during the session.

Aitken expressed disappointment with the song's chart relative to "Boys"'s ubiquity, saying that "maybe the shock value was removed or maybe they didn't shoot the right scene in the swimming pool for the video."

Later this year, her second studio album, Super Sabrina, was released, but she remained a European sex symbol thanks to the raunchy videos accompanying hits such as "My Chico" (her highest-charting single in Italy) and "Like a Yo-Yo," produced by Giorgio Moroder later this year. In which Sabrina also appeared, the former became the musical theme of Odiens, a very popular Italian prime time TV show. Sabrina appeared in many European countries, including others at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1988 and 1989, where 50,000 audience members descended on her for three days. She also appeared in a little-known self-titled video game for home computers. She appeared in Fratelli d'Italia, directed by Neri Parenti, alongside Christian De Sica, Jerry Calà, and Massimo Boldi in 1989. "Gringo" is her latest single, as well as her first remix album, Super Remix, has received moderate success.

Sabrina was the hostess of the weekly prime time television show Ricomincio da 2 with Raffaella Carrà on Rai 2, and she also released "Yeah Yes" in 1990, a modest success. Sabrina's career began in 1991 when she sang "Siamo donne" together with Italian singer Jo Squillo, her first appearance in Italy. They performed the song together at the San Francisco Music Festival in 1991, earning much acclaim. Over the Pop, Sabrina's third studio album, was released the same year, and it was the first time she was allowed to co-write and produce some of the songs. Sabrina's passion for liberty and distancing from her glamorous work culminated in a conflict with her leadership. As a result, the album's promotion suffered, and both the album and the follow-up single "Shadows of the Night" were commercial failures. "Cover Model," a brand new single in France and Italy, was released in France and Italy but it was unprofitable in the charts, and Sabrina ended her relationship with her brand and management.

Sabrina released several non-album singles in 1994 and 1995, including the moderately popular "Angel Boy" and a new version of "Boys." She and her then-husband Enrico Monti formed their own recording studio in Treviso in 1996 and released Maschio dove sei, her first Italian language collection, which showcased her more mature pop rock sounds. The album and its two singles, "Fatta e rifatta" and the title track, were unexpectedly well-received by the critics, but commercial failures followed due to a lack of promotion and distribution. Numeri will re-release the album the following year, with a new title track. Sabrina debuted as a dramatic actress in the comedy I cavalieri Rotonda, playing Morgan le Fay, and then hosted Il mercante in fiera, Italy.

Sabrina appeared in a comedy called Uomini sull'orlo di nervi, which was also very popular, and later hosted the television show Cocco di mamma on Rai 1. What prompted her to debuting in music in this exhibition was that she would perform some Italian and international summer hits from the past. Sabrina's Broken, a 1999 compilation, was released. Although the music video accompanying the song "I Love You" piqued some curiosity, both the album and the single were unrecognisable, mainly due to RTI Music's dissolution. Sabrina appeared on "I Love You" on British television show Eurotrash, where she performed "I Love You."

Sabrina appeared in the musical Emozioni, a 2001 revival of theatre, in which she appeared alongside Vladimir Luxuria. Critics and tourists alike gave the play high marks, and tourists toured Italy for nearly three years. Sabrina hosted another television show on Italia 1 called Matricole & Meteore in 2002, in which she revealed the current life of former celebrities, including Shannen Doherty, Al Corley, Gary Coleman, and Charlene Tilton. She appeared in "Colori," an independent film that premiered at Salerno's Independent Cinema Festival, where she received the Critics' Choice Award for "Best Actress." Sabrina appeared at the nostalgia concert Diskoteka 80-kh in Russia in November of this year. On her website, she unveiled "I Feel Love" over the next year.

Sabrina toured France in 2007 and released a cover version of the disco classic "Born to Be Alive" on her Myspace page. She returned to France in 2008 with the nostalgia tour RFM Party 80, which was hosted by French radio network RFM. Kim Wilde, Samantha Fox, Sandra, Thomas Anders (ex-Modern Talking), Limahl, and Shakin' Stevens appeared at another '80s revival concert in Poland, as part of the Sopot Festival. Sabrina released Erase/Rewind Official Remix, a double album released in October 2008, which featured new interpretations of her old hits as well as several new tracks and cover versions.

Samantha Fox, a Sabrina and English singer, released a duet of Blondie's hit "Call Me" in 2010. The single reached its high point at No. 11. On the Italian Dance Singles Chart, 4 stands out. Mitici 80 on Italia 1 was hosted during the summer of 2010. Sabrina appeared in the French film Stars 80, directed by Frédéric Forestier and produced by Thomas Langmann, and she was on another RFM tour in France in 2012. Sabrina appeared on Neon Neon Neon's album "Shopping (I Like To) from the duo's second studio album Praxis Makes Perfect in 2013. During the same year, she continued touring in France with the RFM Party and began recording new material. Sabrina performed with and mentored a dance group named LECCEzione on Rai 1 prime time television show La Pista between March and April 2014. "Colour Me," written and co-produced by Sabrina herself, was released by Rick Nowels in June.

In 2015, she launched "Ouragan," Stephanie's 1986 album.

"Voices" was her first album on record in 2018.
