Rochelle Humes Career

Music career

S Club Juniors was established in 2001 as part of a reality series referred to as S Club Search. 19 Entertainment, the production company that had created S Club 7 and auditioned S Club Juniors, later decided that they should perform as a support act at all of the venues on the tour. S Club Juniors had amassed a following by the end of the tour, and 19 Polydor Records had signed the club. "One Step Closer" was their first single. The single was promoted by television show S Club Junior: The Story of a Boy and was launched in the United Kingdom on April 22, 2002 in a chart match with the Sugababes, who also released their comeback single the same day. S Club 7 premiered their fourth TV series "Automatic High" in Spain, while S Club 7 released their second single "Automatic High." The single, which was launched on July 22, 2002, ranked second in the UK charts, after selling 52,000 copies and ending eight weeks inside the UK top 75 and selling over 110,000 copies in the United Kingdom. In the first week, the group's third single "New Direction" was released on October 7th, racking up to second place in the UK charts, selling 55,000 copies. It was their third straight top ten hits, with 130,000 copies in six weeks. The Juniors unveiled their debut album Together on October 21st week of sales and selling 40,000 copies. "Puppy Love/Sleigh Ride," the group's fourth album, "Puppy Love/Sleigh Ride," was released on December 9, 2002. The single debuted at number six in the UK charts and sold 85,000 copies in the United Kingdom, putting it eight weeks ahead of the UK Top 40.

The Juniors debuted on their second album in January 2003, and they joined S Club United on a tour in April 2003, where the band's name change to S Club 8 was revealed and the band's upbeat fifth single, "Fool No More," was announced. The single, which was released on June 30th, rose to the top of the UK charts, selling 26,000 copies in its first week and 75,000 copies in the United Kingdom. On September 29, 2003, a new single, "Sundown," debuted in the United Kingdom and became the country's sixth and final top ten hits, selling 37,000 copies in its first week and 80,000 altogether. Sundown, a tribute album, was released on October 13th, 2003, to scathing critiques. In the second week, the UK charts reached its lowest position in the world charts, dropping to 40. Its sales in the United Kingdom and 315,859 worldwide. On December 29, 2003, a sixth single, "Don't Tell Me You're Sorry," was announced in the United Kingdom and rose to the top of the charts, becoming their first single to debut outside the top ten.

S Club 8 decided to do I Dream for 19 Entertainment because they had already decided to do it. Unlike the S Club 7 shows, which concentrated on the band's fictional exploits, I Dreamte saw S Club 8 as part of a larger ensemble cast. A dream revolved around Professor Toone's summer school, where the characters were aiming to develop their talents in the performing arts. Many songs and dances were on display: usually two songs per episode. In early 2005, S Club 8 was disbanded.

Bill Bailey, Russell Howard, and Romeo Stodart (from the band The Magic Numbers) selected Humes from the lineup. Humes returned to appear as a guest on Never Mind the Buzzcocks on Phill Jupitus' staff on October 22, 2009, after finding success with The Saturdays.

Humes has been a member of the Girl group The Saturdays, whose other members include Una Healy, Mollie King, Vanessa White, and fellow S Club 8 member Frankie Bridge. The Saturdays made their chart debut in July 2008 with "If This Is Love," which made it to the top ten in the United Kingdom. Its successor, "Up" was released in October 2008 and debuted at number five on the UK Singles Chart; to date, the single has sold 310,000 copies in the UK alone, as well as remaining in the charts for exclusive 30 weeks. Chasing Lights (2008), the band's debut studio album, reached the top ten on the UK Albums Chart and was awarded Platinum selling status by the British Phonographic Institute, a British Phonographic Industry (BPI). "Issues" and "Just Can't Get Enough" were also released from top ten singles on the UK Singles Chart. Chasing Lights' "Work" was the final single to be released from the band.
