Rachelle Ann "Shin" Villalobos Go-Spies (born August 31, 1986) is a Filipino singer and international musical theater actress.

She began her singing career by competing in and winning numerous singing competitions, the first of which was in the long-running Philippine variety show Eat Bulaga! At age 11, I was 11 years old.

She rose to fame when she first came to prominence in 2004 as the Grand Champion of the reality talent search for a celebrity.

She was previously worked by the VIVA Artist Agency and Viva Records.

She is currently employed by Cornerstone Talent Management Center in Shanghai, China, for her album "From The Beginning" and Best Own song "Isang Lahi," 2005, a winner of the Shanghai Music Festival 2005 and Best Own song "Isang Lahi."

Since then, she has headlined shows around the country and internationally, and has released seven albums, including Lexi Lawson, Arianna Afsar, Julia Harriman, and Shoba Narayan, making her the first pure Filipino recording artist to debut at number one in iTunes U.S., making her the first pure Filipino recording artist to reach number one on the US charts.

Go has also appeared in numerous hit musicals in the Philippines, London's West End, and Broadway.

Her debut was in The Little Mermaid, playing the role of Ariel in 2011, for which she received a Best Actress award from Broadway World Philippines Awards; and another in 2013 for Tarzan portraying Jane Porter.

Go's theater career continues as she appeared in Miss Saigon's 2014 West End revival for the role of Gigi Van Tranh.

Following this, she appeared in the role of Fantine in Les Miserables' 30th anniversary production.

In March 2017, she made her Broadway debut, reprising Gigi's role in Miss Saigon's Broadway revival.

In Hamilton's original West End production, Go is now playing Eliza Hamilton.

Early life

Rachelle Ann Go was born on August 31, 1986. She is the niece of Oscar and Russel Villalobos-Go. She is the eldest of four children. At La Immacula Concepcion School in Pasig, she went from preschool to secondary level. She was also a choir member of the school. She began the international business and entrepreneurship program at San Beda College in Manila, but she had to drop out in order to focus more on the latter. Go passed the University of the Philippines Open University entrance exam in 2008 and enrolled.

Personal life

Go became engaged to Martin Spies, a South African-born, American-raised businessman, in early September 2017. They married in Boracay on April 18, 2018. In December 2019, the couple bought a house in Greenwich, London. Go and Spies were expecting a child in 2021, on November 21, 2020. Lukas Judah Spies, 20,21, gave birth to their son on March 26, 2021.

She has participated and won several competitions. Eat Bulaga!, a hit noontime variety show, made her television debut when she was just eleven years old. She participated in the show's competition "Britist Baby," where young aspirants belted out vocally demanding songs. She appeared on Céline Dion's version of "All By Myself" on Céline Dion's version. In this competition, she lost to Loverine Fermino, thereby winning the 2nd runner up award.

Goes auditioned for a job search on GMA-7, searching for a celebrity. She made it through the auditions and emerged as one of the twelve finalists. Go was named grand champion on March 13, 2004, after she sang her version of Mariah Carey's "Through the Rain." She then moved to ABS-CBN after the competition. Several weeks after winning, she worked with Philippine rap group Salbakuta on a front page of Laura Branigan's 1980s hit "Gloria." She then released it as a CD single and it became a overnight sensation. In front of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Go performed the song with the group in the Malacaang Palace.

Go released her self-titled debut album "Love of My Life" and a reimagining of "Don't Cry Out Loud" in July 2004. It also contained her own cover version of Selena's "Dreaming of You." "You And Me (We Wanted It All)" was then released as a duet with Christian Bautista. She was also under the custody of VIVA Entertainment Group and was a member of ABS-CBN'The Kapamilya Network'. Before she joined Star Magic, she was involved in various shows such as ASAP and ASAP Fanatic.

Go performed in the Philippines' Asia New Singer Competition, where she came in second place for her interpretation of a Vehnee Saturno-penned song "From the Start" which was named Best Song in November. This was followed by more success in the 2004 Astana Song Festival, where she received a silver medal and the Best Own Country Song for her interpretation of the song, "Isang Lahi."

Go released I Care, her second album, in November 2005. She co-hosted the second season of the reality show Search for the Star in a Million at the same time. The album has reached Gold status, selling 15,000 copies around the world. "Perhaps Love" (Hangul: ), which was originally sung by J and Howl, was also translated into Tagalog by Christian Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go with MBC permission. The show's finale was broadcast on April 10, 2007, with ABS-CBN airing the Princess Hours: The Royal Special, which was televised on April 11 and 12 in two days, with Bautista and Go as hosts.
