Jennylyn Anne Pineda Mercado (born May 15, 1987) is a Filipina actress, singer, and songwriter.

She was the champion of the first season of the reality talent competition StarStruck.

Mercado received acclaim at a young age for her television and film appearances.

She appeared in several commercially successful films, including English Only, Please (2014), The Prenup (2015), Walang Forever (2015), and Just the Three of Us (2016).

Mercado has three albums, "Sa Aking Panaginip," "Moments Of Love" in collaboration with Janno Gibbs, "Maybe This Time," and "Kahit Sandali" with GMA Records and Viva Records, along with GMA Records and Viva Records, as well as "Kahit Sandali."

Early life and family

Jennylyn Mercado was born in Paraguaque, Metro Manila, on May 15, 1987. She spent her senior year at the Augustinian Abbey School in Las Pias. Mercado's stepfather assaulted her as a child. Her biological mother returned from Dubai only to help her stepfather out. Henceforth, Mercado was raised by her aunt, whom she identifies as her mother.

Personal life

Mercado revealed she was pregnant at age 21 in 2008. Patrick Garcia, her ex-boyfriend who distanced herself from learning of her pregnancy, was announced as the father of her child. Alexandr Jazz, her son, was born on August 16, 2008, via Caesaria's section.

Dennis Trillo, her long-time boyfriend, married her in 2021.

Mercado is also a young triathlete. She takes jujitsu and Muay Thai lessons in her free time. "They gave me my muscles." "I looked terrible on film," Mercado recalled. "I realized that cardio exercises were the key to slim down." She discovered running and biking, which eventually led to the introduction of triathlons in Alabang and Laguna. Career

Mercado debuted as a recording artist with Alpha Records in 1999 on Susanna Pichay's suggestion. Mercado was a member of Nonoy Tan's singing group, G4. The group released two songs but never released an album due to two of the four members dropping out. Mercado embarked on commercial modeling after G4, landing a stint with Bambini cologne and a Pond's television commercial. She was also a member of "10 Modeling Search" Elite Circle, where she competed with Dion Ignacio, a second-place finisher.

Mercado made her first acting appearance in ABS-CBN's TV series Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay, which was top-billed by Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz in 2002.

Mercado appeared on the reality show StarStruck in 2003. She and Mark Herras were rewarded with 1,000,000 pesos and exclusive contracts from the GMA Network, and the company won. Mercado appeared in many TV series, including Encantadia, I Luv NY, Dangal, Super Twins, Paano Ba Ang Mangarap? SRO Cinemaserye: Susa, I Kawasak, and Gumapang Ka Sa Lusak, who won StarStruck. Viva Records managed Mercado's singing career. Though she joined Cristine Reyes in 2011, her Viva deal came to an end and was not renewed. Mercado joined Regal Entertainment in 2013. She also signed with PolyEast Records, in the hopes of resurrecting herself as a singer.

Mercado also ventured into television broadcasting and hosting reality shows, including Ogie Aldo and Dingdong Dantes, who co-hosts the Big Break. Showbiz Central, a GMA-7 talk show, was also on display in Showbiz Central on Sunday.

Mercado appeared in the romance The Bride and the Lover (2013) in 2013. Polyeast Records' contract came to an end this year. Through Rhodora X, she played a woman with a split personality in 2014. This was the most challenging role she's ever played, according to Mercado. She made her fifth album through GMA Records in late 2014.

Mercado also committed to attend the 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival at the end of 2014 (MMFF). English Only, Please (2014), the singer-actress Angeline Quinto's debut and nomination as one of the eight official films for the film festival. Despite having less advertisements than the other films included, it was still a hit. Critics called it a "sleeper strike." Tere Madlansacay, a Filipino tutor, was portrayed by Mercado in the film. The film's success made her a star of Hollywood. Mercado was named Best Actress at the recently concluded film festival in early 2015.

Mercado debuted first in the FHM "Philippines' 100 Sexiest Women" list in 2015, after Marian Rivera vacated the position. Before Mercado's film PreNup with actress Sam Milby, she was surprised and given a plaque by publisher Aeus Reyes, Allan Altera, and GMA News reporter Nelson Canlas. Mercado attended the two-part FHM 100 Sexiest Party at the SM Mall of Asia on July 11th.

Melanie "Mel" Fernandez-Dela Paz, Mercado, appeared in the GMA series My Faithful Husband, which aired on August 10, 2015. Despite its popularity, the series was not extended due to scheduling conflicts with Mercado, who was still starring in two films, The Prenup and WalangForever. Multiple acting awards and nominations were given to the lead actors in the series. Mercado received her second straight MMFF Best Actress award in 2015 after the success of WalangForever.

Mercado revealed her forthcoming project on social media, announcing that she was starring actor John Lloyd Cruz in a new film. Just the 3 of Us, a Star Cinema film, was made. In its first day, it earned 16 million pesos, the highest opening day gross of any of Mercado's films, and tied for the highest opening day gross for a Philippine film. It continued to be one of the top-grossing Philippine films of 2016.

Mercado and the GMA Network extended their deal on July 4, 2016, ending months of talks. Mercado hosted GMA's latest comedy-singing show Duets as part of the deal. She was later selected to appear in the role of Steffi in the Philippines version of the South Korean film My Love From the Star.

Mercado became the first Filipina brand ambassador for Max Factor, a multinational makeup company.
