Ana Karylle Padilla Tatlonghari, also known as the OPM Showbiz Royalty of the Philippines, is a Filipino singer-songwriter, actor, dancer, television presenter, runner, musical theater performer, and entrepreneur.

Early life

Karylle was born in Manila on March 22, 1981, to Zsa Padilla, a singer-actress, and Dr. Modesto Tatlonghari. She is the granddaughter of boxing referee Carlos Padilla Jr. When she was six years old, her parents divorced. Nicole and Zia Quizon, her mother's tumultuous relationship with actor and comedian Dolphy a.k.a. Rodolfo Vera Quizon is a journalist who works in the Philippines. Karylle completed her elementary and secondary education, most in O.B. Montessori Center – Greenhills during grade school (where she was class valedictorian) and Poveda, where she received a Service Medal for extracurricular and volunteer services. She started formal ballet lessons at the age of three and continued to do so until she was 15.

Karylle began rehearsals for her first stage musical, Little Mermaid, in which she played Princess Sapphire while preparing for her debut album. Karylle obtained a B.S. in college. Ateneo de Manila University, where she made her way to the Dean's List and graduated in year 2002, she obtained a bachelor's degree in Communications Technology Management. Karylle is also a businessman. She is the owner of Family KTV and Restobar CenterStage in Quezon City, Jupiter, Makati City, Philippines, and part of the Mey Lin Restaurant and Mango Farm dessert kiosk in Greenhills, San Juan City.

Acting career

Karylle's first appearance on film was in 2002 Ang Agimat as Maria Makiling, with Imus Productions' Metro Manila Filmfest entry. She appeared in three Regal Entertainment films before. Mano Po 2: My Home and Mano Po 3: My Love: Where she starred as a Chinese. Her Mano Po films gave her the opportunity to work with the best and most well-known actresses in show business. Bahay ni Lola 2, a horror film, was her first lead role in a film. Moments of Love, Karylle's second highest success in GMA films' box office, was also a finalist at the New York Film Festival. Ligaw Liham and Litsonero were two of her indie films. She was also one of the film's designers, apart from playing the lead role in "Ligaw Liham."

Karylle's debuting her first album, she became a co-host and performer in GMA-7's now defunct program SOP. She also dabbled in television acting. Iris' first acting role was in GMA 7's primetime television drama Twin Hearts. Karylle, along with Rhian Ramos and Richard Gutierrez in 2008, was one of the hosts of GMA7's Pinoy Idol's Pinoy Idol'. However, she made the most significant changes in her career in the last quarter. From Genesis to STAGES, her recording business from Universal Records to Polyeast EMI, she has moved from Genesis to ABS-CBN, her home grown station. In addition, it came as a surprise to many when she became an endorser of Bench Body, with billboards seen all over the metro for the ad "Single is Sexy." It's likely that she is also changing her appearance. According to reports, controversy surrounding her split with former co-star and boyfriend Dingdong Dantes was what caused her to change. Her last participation in GMA is her appearance in the Manny Pacquiao–Oscar De La Hoya boxing match in Las Vegas, singing the Philippine national anthem, which took place last December 6, 2008 in Las Vegas, USA. Following the occurrence, she signed a Kapamilya contract and became officially a Kapamilya. On December 14, 2008, ASAP '08 gave her a grand welcome. Her character shone even more after joining the ABS-CBN family. In Tim Yap's column in The Philippine Star, she was listed as one of the 29 people to watch out for in 2009.
