Julie Iris Fernandez-Lim (née Julie Iris Fernandez; March 18, 1978), also known as "Juris," is a Filipino singer and songwriter.

She was best known as the lead singer of MYMP, a symphonic band, from 2003 to 2009. She left MYMP due to "irreconcilable inconsistencies" and joined Star Music as a solo artist in late 2009.

Now Playing, her solo debut, was released in February 2010.

Career

Fernandez began her singing career as the lead vocalist of the acoustic band MYMP after auditioning in 2001. She and her bandmates Chin Alcantara and Mike Manahan were signed to Ivory Records together. It was the trio of Alcantara, Fernandez, and percussionist Mike Manahan who launched M.Y.M.P.'s frontal attack on the sales and radio charts that established the beachhead.

Raymond Ryan, the station manager of iFM, watched their career begin when they first started to record. Soulful Acoustic, Ryan's debut album, was coproduced by a producer. Ivory Records became their recording house. M.Y.M.P. During their label's 20th anniversary, the band's debut album was released. The band's original hit song "A Little Bit" (which received the People's Choice "Favorite Song" Award in 2004) and front-cover versions of Sting's "Every Little Thing" and Bob Marley's "Waiting in Vain" became well-known.

The trio may have clicked, but M.Y.M.P. When one of the company's members decided to leave the group, the group became a duo. Manahan left the band in June 2004 due to "professional differences."

Both Alcantara and Fernandez emerged as a pair, with Andrew and John as bassist and kahonista, respectively, as two more albums were released in a year. After less than a month, Beyond Acoustic and Versions, both 12-track albums, were officially certified Gold. "Get Me" and their "Tell Me Where It Hurts," "Kailan," "Especially for You" and "Eternal Flame" were later used as theme songs for television series and commercial advertisements.

MYMP were on Sundays on ABS-CBN's "Sessionistas" segment together with Nina, Aiza Seguerra, Sitti, Richard Poon, and Duncan Ramos. It was revealed in November 2009 that she would leave the band to pursue as a solo artist. It was also reported that she had signed a recording deal with Star Records.

Fernandez signed with Star Records after leaving MYMP. Playing is now playing as the lead singer for two of her original compositions on Star Records. "Di Lang Ikaw," Ice Seguerra's lyrics, is one of them that is used as the love theme song of TV series Rubi. "I Don't Want To Fall" is the carrier's single. The album features pop hits but not so much of ballads. The album's sound is also a departure from her earlier all-acoustic style.

In November 2010, Juris released If You and Me mini album in South Korea in CD form and digital download. It consists of six tracks, two in English and two by Taeyeon of Girls' Generation. Baek Ji-young's "If" is the Korean cover. The collection also includes Tamia's "Officially Missing You" and "Opposites Attracts," which are also included in Junjee Marcelo's debut studio album Now Playing. The songs on the album were all recorded in the Philippines. Likewise, Juris is the first Filipino mainstream artist to release an album in South Korea. But it would be remembered that her song "Say You Love Me" was released on her first Korean mini-album before it was released in Korea. In support of the record, she appeared on May 14, 2011 at the Nanji Hangang Park. Green Plugged Seoul 2011 is a two-day, multi-stage international festival that features a variety of art performances, including concerts, exhibits, dance, and other multi-media performances from around the world, including Korea, Finland, Japan, Sweden, and the Philippines.

They held a concert called ASAP SESSIONISTAS 20.11 at the Araneta Coliseum in February 2011, with the success of ABS-CBN's "Sessionistas" segment. Juris held her first solo performance "Juris Celebrates" at SM City Davao Cinema 3 in Davao and the Music Museum respectively in the following month. The exhibition is both a commemoration of Juris' birthday and her first as a solo artist. Juris' second studio album Forevermore was released on the year. It features 13 songs, including an original composition by Juris called "Bliss" and four OPM cover songs, including Side A's original song "Forevermore." On its debut in the Philippines' Odyssey Music and Videos chart and Astrovision/Astroplus survey, the album ranked No. 2 in the country's largest charts of Odyssey Music and Videos chart and Astrovision/Astroplus. After two months, it became number one in the United States. The album was voted number one in the Philippines at the 24th Philippine Awit Awards for Album of the Year.

Forevermore: A Birthday Concert at the Music Museum in March 2012, Juris held a birthday concert. S2S Pte released Dreaming of You, a worldwide studio album released in September. Ltd. It features just 12 English tracks and topped the Singapore's famous music store HMV's top jazz chart. In addition, the song made it to the list of top albums in iTunes Thailand and was one of the Top Albums in iTunes Asia. Juris released Paskong Puno Ng Kasiyahan, her first all-OPM Christmas collection. Five original tracks are included on the album, including the carrier single "Paskong Puno Ng Kasiyahan," which was composed by herself. "Sana Ngayong Pasko," written and arranged by Jimmy Borja, appears on the album as the album's only cover song.

Juris performed in 2013 in the Philippines, winning the "Hanggang Wakas" song by Soc Villanueva. It eventually finished in second place behind "Anong Nangyari Sa Ating Dalawa," composed by Jovinor Tan and translated by Aiza Seguerra. Juris' debut in August, with the success of her first international album Dreaming of You (PH Deluxe Version) in the Philippines, it also included 19 tracks including "Hanggang Wakas," mainly TV and movie theme songs sung by Juris.

In 2014, Juris released "Sa Aking Pag-Iisa" and "Puwang Sa Puso" respectively, for the original soundtrack of the Philippine television series Ikaw Lamang and Dyesebel. "I Heart You 2" later on, Juris, Erik Santos, and Richard Poon were special guests. Be careful with the My Heart Thanksgiving concert later this week. Juris performed again at Himig Handog in August by interpreting Nica del Rosario's song "Hindi Wala". The album was selected as the fifth Best Song in the Himig Handog 2014 competition.
