Pac Life

Benjamin Satterley (born 22 August 1986) is an English professional wrestler currently working under the ring name Pac (also stylised in all capitals) for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in the United States and Dragon Gate in Japan; he is a former Open the Dream Gate Champion in the latter promotion.

He is also a member of the villainous R.E.D.

stable.

He also currently works on the international independent circuit as a freelancer.

He had a six-year tenure in WWE, where he competed under the ring name Neville (previously Adrian Neville). Satterley is noted for his high flying style and aerial attacks, which has earned him the nickname "The Man That Gravity Forgot".

He began his wrestling career under the ring name Pac in North East England with a small promotion, the Independent Wrestling Federation (IWF), and after establishing himself in the United Kingdom with promotions such as Real Quality Wrestling and One Pro Wrestling, he began to perform overseas, most notably for the United States-based Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Ring of Honor (ROH), and Chikara; and the Japan-based Dragon Gate, where he won the Open the Brave, Triangle, and Twin Gate Championship.

He is a former PWG World Tag Team Champion, and winner of PWG's inaugural Dynamite Duumvirate Tag Team Title Tournament. From 2012–2015, Satterley wrestled in WWE's developmental territory NXT under the name Adrian Neville.

In NXT, he won the NXT Tag Team Championship twice, with his first reign being one-half of the inaugural champions with Oliver Grey and the other reign with Corey Graves.

He is also a one-time NXT Champion, thus making him the first man to have held both the NXT Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Neville was promoted to the main roster in early 2015, and was later drafted to Raw in the 2016 draft.

He began competing in the cruiserweight division that same year, and became a record two-time and longest reigning WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Early life

Benjamin Satterley was born in Newcastle upon Tyne on 22 August 1986, the son of Stephen and Gill (sometimes spelled Jill) Satterley. He was extremely active as a child and participated in sports such as football, hockey, roller hockey, basketball, and swimming. His interest in wrestling came about through one of his aunts, who was a fan of the World Wrestling Federation. His parents had banned him from watching wrestling at their house, so he would go to his aunt's house to watch it. His favorite wrestlers growing up were The Undertaker and "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan. By the age of 16, Satterley had wrestled with backyard wrestling organizations TWXW in Gateshead and FXW in nearby Middlesbrough. Satterley also visited Scarborough Wrestling Alliance in Scarborough and Essex Championship Wrestling in Essex. Even as one of the younger wrestlers in the group, Satterley's technical ability and athleticism ensured he was always in the most entertaining matches. Many of the FXW roster went on to form 3Count Wrestling (3CW), an organization Satterley would later return to. He started training as a wrestler on a more permanent basis at the age of 18 at St Joseph's Hall in Gateshead, described by Satterley as "pretty much the only wrestling school in the area".

Personal life

Satterley is a supporter of his hometown football club Newcastle United. His favorite band is The Specials, and his WWE ring name was a reference to one of their former band members, Neville Staple. He is close friends with fellow professional wrestlers Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Bryan Danielson, Zack Sabre Jr, Kenta, and Shingo Takagi. He is married living a private lifestyle.

The English duo defeated The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper and Erick Rowan) in the finals on the 13 February episode of NXT, together with Oliver Grey. In the first round and Leo Kruger in the semi-finals, Neville and Grey were both billed as British Ambition, with Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre) previously defeated 3MB (Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre). Neville selected Bo Dallas as his new partner in April after Grey was wounded with a torn ACL (in a tale told by the Wyatt Family). Neville lost to Antonio Cesaro on April 24th while competing for the United States Championship. When Neville and Dallas' first defense of the tag title was lost to the Wyatt family on the 8th episode of NXT, they failed in their first defense of the tag title.

Neville won an NXT Championship number one contender battle royal on May 29th, defeating Mason Ryan and Bray Wyatt (who had eleven and two eliminations respectively) to advance to the final two participants, but his former tag partner Dallas disqualified him to win the tournament. Dallas won his title match and became the NXT Champion later this year. Neville continued his feud with the Wyatt Family by losing in two six-man tag matches, once when working with Corey Graves and Kassius Ohno and another with Graves and William Regal. Neville regained the NXT Tag Team Championship from the Wyatt Family with the help of a new friend in Graves on June 20. Neville defeated Dean Ambrose in the United States Championship on August 6, which Ambrose retained after the other members of The Shield were disqualified. In September, Neville and Graves lost their position to The Ascension (Conor O'Brian and Rick Victor) Following this, the two sides feuded over the fact that they were unable to regain the title.

After both men tied a beat the clock challenge for the first time, Neville became the first contender to the NXT Championship on November 27th by defeating Sami Zayn. On the next episode, Neville faced former tag partner Bo Dallas for the title and earned by countout, which meant that the title did not change hands. Neville defeated Dallas twice in a lumberjack contest, but was defeated when lumberjack Tyler Breeze interfered. After Dallas failed to defeat Neville in a beat-the-clock battle on January 22nd, Neville became the top contender after the Dallas area blasted the Dallas Gunfight due to Dallas' boasting. Neville defeated the NXT Championship from Dallas in a ladder match at NXT Arrival. The 20th edition of NXT, which he won after debuting a new finisher, the imploding 450° splash, was slated for a rematch.

Following a non-title match against Brodus Clay in which Neville defeated Neville by countout, the champion's first feud began. The feud came to an end with Neville winning a No Disqualification match over Clay to successfully defend the NXT Championship. Neville defended the NXT Championship against Tyson Kidd during NXT Takeover. Neville regained his crown against Kidd after Natalya barred Kidd from using a chair. Tyson Kidd fought Neville after being super kicked by Neville on the 31 July episode of NXT. He successfully defended his title against Tyler Breeze by disqualification. On the 15th of January 2015 episode of NXT, Neville did a rematch but didn't manage to regain the title. Satterley made his main roster debut on the 30th of March 2015 under the shortened ring name Neville, defeating Curtis Axel. Bad News Barrett was defeated at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view the following month. Following this, Neville competed in the 2015 King of the Ring tournament, where he was defeated by Barrett in the finals. Neville will launch a feud with Bo Dallas, putting up a contest in the Elimination Chamber, which Neville won.

Neville would then clash with Stardust in a comic book-inspired rivalry. Neville will team up with actor Stephen Amell at SummerSlam on August 23rd, defeating the Stardust and Barrett team. Neville will compete with the Lucha Dragons (Kalisto and Sin Cara) at Night of Champions in September, a loss to Stardust and Ascension. Neville will face The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley), Goldust and Titus O'Neil in a victory over Stardust, The Miz, and Bo Dallas in a traditional Survivor Series match at the Survivor Series pre-show, and Bo Dallas. Neville appeared in his first Royal Rumble match as the number 16 entrant on January 24, 2016, lasted over ten minutes before being disqualified by Luke Harper. Neville suffered his ankle during a match with Chris Jericho on Raw, knocking him out of action for two to three months and forcing him to miss WrestleMania 32, where he was supposed to compete.

Neville was drafted to Raw on July 19th, as part of the 2016 WWE draft. Neville made his televised return on July 25, beating Curtis Axel defeating Curtis Axel. At SummerSlam, Neville joined Sami Zayn to defeat The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley). Following Neville's defiance of Kevin Owens on Raw, the following night failed to qualify for a vital four-way elimination match for the vacant WWE Universal Championship. Neville competed for a spot on Team Raw at Survivor Series on October 31, but Braun Strowman was evicted by eventual winner Braun Strowman.

Neville returned to seemingly praise Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann after his match only involved Swann and his opponent T. J. Perkins, turning heel and joining the Cruiserweight division on December 18th at Roadblock: End of the Line. Neville, who said that the fans only cheered him because he was "vulnerable or small," he continued to harass Swann after he interrupted him and Perkins continued to chastize Swann, who then continued to chastize Swann. Neville will face several Cruiserweights in singles competition over the coming weeks, including Perkins, Cedric Alexander, Lince Dorado, and Swann in a non-title match. Neville claimed the Cruiserweight Championship for the first time on January 29, 2017 at the Royal Rumble, his first title appearance on the main roster. Neville then began a feud with Jack Gallagher, and defended his title at Fastlane against Gallagher.

Neville defended his title against Swann successfully against Swann the following night on Raw. Austin Aries appears to have interviewed Neville just to accuse him and ignite a feud between the two teams following the match. Neville will defeat Aries in his WrestleMania debut in WrestleMania 33. On 205 Live, Aries fought a fatal-four-way match against Neville at Payback, which Neville lost by disqualification but retained the title as a result. Neville formed a friendship with T. J. Perkins, who will assist him in his fight with Aries in return for a promise of a championship contest. Neville defeated Aries again in a submission match at Extreme Rules to keep the Cruiserweight Championship, bringing an end to their rivalry in the process. On the 6th episode of 205 Live, he ended his relationship with Perkins the night before, criticizing him and then successfully defend his championship against him.

Neville then began a feud with Akira Tozawa, who was given a championship match of Great Balls of Fire by Titus O'Neil, in which Neville retained the title. He was also expected to defend his title against Tozawa at second appearance at SummerSlam, where Neville lost the championship to Tozawa, snapping his record breaking run at 197 days. However, Neville won the title back from Tozawa on the SummerSlam pre-show, making him the first-ever two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion with the new belt.

He was confronted by Enzo Amore, the new Cruiserweight division's current member, later on. Neville pleaded guilty to Amore on September 24 after being struck with a low blow while the referee was distracted. Amore turned heel by disparaging the cruiserweight division, while Neville turned on the cruiserweights and threatened Amore. Amore revealed that he had a no-contact provision, preventing any of the cruiserweights from receiving a future championship shot if they attack him, but Neville threatened him nonetheless after the cruiserweights barred Amore from leaving. After Neville's victory over Ariya Daivari, he was struck by Amore with a crutch on 205 Live next night. This will be Neville's last appearance on WWE television.

Neville walked out on Raw on October 9, a day on which he was supposed to lose to Enzo Amore. Neville seemed to have resigned from the job, with one report claiming he had been unemployed for a long time. Neville left the company, according to WWE. According to reports, Neville and WWE had "positive discussions" by the end of September, with some inside believing he might be on his way back. Neville's contract was frozen by WWE in January 2018, either keeping him under control indefinitely or until a release is reached. Neville was no longer under contract as of August 24, according to a release.

Satterley returned to Dragon Gate on October 2nd, two months after his WWE deal came to an end and almost one year after he first walked out on WWE. He identified himself with Eita and the villainous R.E.D. by using his old ring name, PAC. The stock market is stable. In his return match at Korakuen Hall, he pinned Shingo Takagi. He defeated Masato Yoshino to win the Open the Dream Gate Championship at Dragon Gate's "Fantastic Gate 2018" from Korakuen Hall on December 4th. He held the championship until July 21, 2019, when he would lose it to Ben-K, ending his reign at 229 days.

Pac was unveiled on January 8, 2019 as one of the first signees to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Pact Adam Page, the two wrestlers, was interrupted at AEW's inaugural rally in Jacksonville, igniting a feud between the two grapplers. A match between Page and Pact was announced for the company's inaugural event, Double or Nothing, at AEW's second rally in Las Vegas. However, the match was postponed in late May due to "creative inconsistencies." On Friday, they played a match for independent promotion Wrestle Gate Pro, a week before Double or Nothing. Page won the match by disqualification, and after the match, Pac attacked Page's knee, saying that his aim had been to hurt Page, and that with that done, he had no reason to appear at Double or Nothing, thus establishing himself as a heel in the game. Dave Meltzer gave this match a five-star rating. Due to Omega and Don Callis' interference, the game came to a double count out. However, Tony Khan earned his title in a three-way match for Double or Nothing, in which Omega kept his title.
