Will Ospreay Career

Professional wrestling career

The three-way match between A.J. and Osprey is cited by Osprey. Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Samoa Joe are a couple who want to be a wrestler at TNA Unbreakable as the match made him want to be a wrestler. He began his studies at Lucha Libre's London School of Lucha Libre in Bethnal Green, London, on Lucha Britannia's Lucha Libre. On April 1, 2012, he made his professional debut at BritWres-Fest as the masked protagonist Dark Britannico, Leon Britannico's evil twin who was played by Paul Robinson, Ospreay's future tag team partner in The Swords of Essex. He twice lifted the Lucha Britannia World Championship while wrestling with Lucha Britannia. In an interview with Huffington Post, Ospreay said that his name, "the Aerial Assassin," refers to the Assassin's Creed video game series, and that he chose him to distinguish himself from other British high flying wrestlers, particularly Pac.

Ospreay made a regular for Progress Wrestling shortly, debuting with Alex Esmail in a loss to the London Riots (James Davis and Rob Lynch). His success earned him a spot in the Natural Progression Series I tournament, which was aimed at scouting and showcasing new wrestlers. In the first round to eventual winner Mark Andrews in November and then in a rematch the following May. Andrews, who received a prize for winning, chose Ospreay to participate in the upcoming Natural Progression Series tournament. In the first round of the Progress Tag Team Championship tournament in January 2014, the two teams met again, with FSU (Andrews' team defeating The Swords of Essex (Ospreay's team with Paul Robinson).

Zack Gibson, his opponent, was attempting to win by holding the ropes in his Natural Progression Series II first match. Gibson stopped Gibson from using the ropes, which in turn distracted Gibson's referee long enough for Gibson to low-blow Ospreay and force Osprey to submit. The Swords of Essex were one of the last two teams to advance to the Progress Tag Team Championship on May 18th. Ospreay, who had been dependant for some time, reached out to identify his partner, but Robinson stumbled off the apron and walked out on Ospreay, despite having to walk out on Ospreay. Ospreay was left on his own and lost the match, until Progress Champion Jimmy Havoc arrived and ordered London Riots to tie Ospreay. Havoc pulled out a knife and threatened to murder Ospreay, blaming it on Ospreay's fame among the fans, before other wrestlers came out and intervened, freeing Ospreay. Havoc and the London Riots formed Regression, the London Riots' allegiance that also included Robinson.

Ospreay's entry in the eight-man elimination Thunderbastard match on July 27th, the champion of whom can choose a time for a Progress Championship match. Robinson, who had already registered and disqualified himself in the hopes of beating Ospreay, entered the match third and was immediately low-blocked. Osprey beat Thunderbasetard, who then beat Marty Scurll last. The following video included Ospreay's team competing with FSU and Noam Dart in an eight-man tag team match with FSU and Havoc's respective titles, Ospreay's national championship, and everyone else's Progress contracts in question, depending on which individual lost. Ospreay moonsaulted from the Electric Ballroom's balcony to his opponents on the ground during the match. Later, he had Havoc in place to be pinned, but Robinson dragged Havoc outside, causing Osprey to pin Davis and bring an end to the London Riots' contract with Progress.

At the next match, Ospreay defeated Robinson and announced that he would challenge Havoc's championship. Since Havoc loosened the top rope, Havoc made it impossible for Osprey to do high-flying moves and use it as a weapon, he lost the championship match in January. Ospreay won the first Super Strong Style 16 tournament over two days over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, defeating El Ligero, Mark Haskins, Roderick Strong, and Zack Sabre Jr. The rematch took place on July 26th in a no disqualification match, where the reinstated London Riots neutralized Robinson's interference and Ospreay brought an end to Havoc's 609-day tenure as the Progress Champion.

Ospreay defended his name against the 2015 Thunderbastard Haskins and then Robinson. After losing to him, Robinson assaulted Ospreay, but Ospreay was saved by a returning Mark Andrews. Osprey won and then defeated Andrews to regain his position. In a triple threat match against Zack Gibson and Morgan Webster in Manchester, Ospreay also headlined Progress' first main show outside of London.

On January 24, 2016, Marty Scurll lost the championship after the referee called the game off because Ospreay had gone out while being handcuffed in Scurll's chickenwing submission. In April, Ospreay lost a rematch with Scurll at WrestleCon Supershow in Texas, USA, and also missed a playoff match against Haskins on July 31. The remainder of the year was spent in showcase matches against non-regular Progress wrestlers, losing to Zack Sabre Jr., Shane Strickland, Matt Riddle, and Adam Cole. Finally, Ospreay defeated Havoc on December 30th, on a card made entirely of unannounced matches. After the match, Havoc invited Osprey to assist him in his battle against British Strong Style, who dominated the World and Tag Team Championships. Ospreay launched a fiery tiray at Havoc and then realigned with Essex partner Paul Robinson's Swords. During the latter's Progress World Championship match that culminated in a Fans Bring The Weapons match in March, Ospreay attacked Havoc once more. Ospreay pleaded with Havoc during the match to put their Progress contracts in jeopardy before losing the game and leaving the promotion.

Ospreay appeared at the last event of 2017 as a mystery rival for Progress Champion Travis Banks, but he lost the match. Ospreay defeated Adam Brooks in chapter 61, his first victory in the tournament after losing the Progress Championship in 2016. Ospreay defeated Mark Haskins in Chapter 66.

On day 3 of the 2018 Super Strong Style 16 tournament, Ospreay faced Jimmy Havoc to a match at Wembley Arena on September 30, 2018, but was forced to leave due to contractual obligations with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. The match was then scheduled for Chapter 75, with Ospreay triumphing in a no disqualification and 2 out of a 3 falls match with former tag team partner Paul Robinson as referee. Ospreay and Paul Robinson defeated Australian Open (Kyle Fletcher & Mark Davis) to become the Progress Tag Team Champions at Chapter 82.

Ospreay has competed for International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom (IPW: UK) since September 2012, with Robinson as Swords of Essex and Tom Dawkins as Spitfire Britannia, playing off their alter egos Pure Britannico and Neo Britannico for Lucha Britannia. Both 2014 and 2015, Ospreay made it to the final of the UK Super 8 tournament, losing to Zack Sabre, Jr. and Rampage Brown respectively. In April, he won the 30 man Battle Royale 2014 but lost it the following year when the All England Championship was on the line. Osprey lost a Loser Leaves Town match against his former Spitfire Britannia partner Dawkins on March 28, 2016.

The Swords of Essex began wrestling for Future Pro Wrestling (FPW) in May 2013 and became the first FPW Tag Team Champions after winning a four-way match. They fought the titles for nine months and then became embroiled in a Best of Four match series versus Both The London Riots and The Alpha Males (Iestyn Rees & Charlie Garrett) for the FPW Tag Team Championship. The Swords of Essex lost a match in the series, with Ospreay wrestling the final match, which also had the London Riots' IPW:UK and New Generation Wrestling Tag Team Championship on the line, but without Robinson. Ospreay has been unable to have similar success as a singles wrestler, twice competing in the Zero G tournament but losing.

From March 2014 to today, Ospreay has been a regular for Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE). After losing the Speed King Championship from Kay Lee Ray in a co-promoted show with Combat Zone Wrestling in October, he defeated the event a fortnight later in a Six-Way Elimination match. He defended it for several months to many SWE and guest wrestlers before putting it on the line in the annual Speed King Tournament, where he defeated Mark Andrews in the semi-finals in a Best of Three Falls tournament, but lost the title to El Ligero in a Six-Way Elimination match on May 30, 2015. He unsuccessfully challenged Joseph Connors for the SWE Heavyweight Championship in March, but the Speed King championship was won by Andrew Everett on August 7th for the second time.

With his three Swords of Essex teammates Paul Robinson, Jerry Sevanchez, and Scott Wainwright, Ospreay revealed a new British Triangle Championship on August 27th. The three championships were not tied to any specific region, and could therefore be defended anywhere.

Over the course of 2016, Ospreay wrestled for both their weekly YouTube broadcast and iPPV shows, winning over Noam Dar, Marty Scurll, and feud with Martin Kirby. Martin Kirby was defeated by WCPW Loaded #15, with support from Adam Pacitti, Paul Robinson & Scott Wainwright, who joined the Pacitti Club. Ospreay teamed up with Scotty Wainwright and defeated El Ligero & Gabriel Kidd, and Lucas Archer in a four-way ladder match to become the WCPW Tag Team Champions. On an episode of Loaded, the characters were lost to War Machine. In August 2017, Osprey made it to the Pro Wrestling World Cup finals before losing to Kushida.

With their first exhibition, The Dawning of Forever, taking place in Birmingham on January 4, 2017, Ospreay and fellow British wrestler Ryan Smile started Lucha Forever.

With a victory over Mike Hitchman, Ospreay debuted for Revolution Pro Wrestling (RevPro) on February 10, 2013. During RevPro's first show at York Hall on June 15, he soon began participating in tag matches with Paul Robinson as The Swords of Essex, gaining popularity after beating Project Ego (Kris Travis and Martin Kirby). The Swords of Essex lost their British Tag Team Championship to Ricochet and his partner Rich Swann, the Inner City Machine Gun, after losing to Ricochet in a singles match on March 15, 2014.

In a match that also included Swann, Ospreay defeated Josh Bodom for the British Cruiserweight Championship on October 19th. He had lost a match to Matt Sydal the day before, and so the two teams met in May 2015. Despite losing the match, the two teams were locked in a Best of Three Falls match with the British Cruiserweight Championship on the line, with their series 1-2. With two straight falls after losing the first fall, he retained the title. Following an eleven-month reign and a string of title defenses, Ospreay lost the title to Bodom on September 5, 2015.

With victories over P. J., Osprey bounced back. Black, René Duprée, and Ricochet all put him in jeopardy for the AJ Styles' British Heavyweight Championship, which also featured Marty Scurll, where the champion retained. On the third day, he lost to New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Kazuchika Okada. After being impressed with Ospreay, Okada proceeded to recommend him to NJPW officials. This, as well as endorsements from AJ Styles and Hiroshi Tanahashi, culminated in Osprey being signed by NJPW. Ospreay defeated Scurll and the new Cruiserweight Champion Pete Dunne in a non-title triple threat match, as well as beating Mike Bailey, which earned him a Cruiserweight Championship match against Dunne on July 10th, which he won. In a match against Vader that was the following month, Ospreay headlined York Hall. The feud started after Vader chastised an NJ Best of the Super Juniors match between Ospreay and Ricochet in May, likening the contest to "a gymnastics routine." The discussion took place on Twitter, with many wrestling journalists and veterans participating in the discussion. The match eventually took place on August 12th, with Ospreay losing to Vader after Dunne intervened while the referee was distracted. Ospreay lost the British Cruiserweight Championship to interim champion Josh Bodom on April 13, 2017. Following a non-title competition against Zack Sabre Jr. at 'Monday Night Mayhem' in Portsmouth, which Ospreay retained, Ospreay lost the Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship to Zack Sabre Jr. on November 10, 2020.

During the promotion's tour of the United Kingdom, Ospreay made his debut for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). Ospreay's Wild Tournament in 2016 was unsuccessful, racking for both the TNA World Championship and the TNA World Tag Team Championship. TNA had intended to depose Ospreay, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, but after discovering that he had signed to work with NJPW, he was suspended to a short match on their secondary television program.

Ospreay made his Evolve debut on April 1, 2016, losing to Zack Sabre Jr. at Evolve 58 and Ricochet 59 in Dallas, Texas, USA. During a speaking tour of the United Kingdom, Paul Heyman offered Ospreay an Evolve deal on behalf of Gabe Sapolsky, but that the contract would not impact his NJPW contract. Pro Wrestling Torch announced that Ospreay had signed the deal to make Evolve his American home promotion, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter denied this, saying Ospreay did not sign and was still in negotiations with Evolve, PWG, TNA, and ROH, another American promotion that had no affiliation with NJPW, which Ospreay later reported.

At Pro Wrestling Australia (PWA)'s inaugural event Call to Arms in August 2017, Ospreay made his debut for Pro Wrestling Australia (PWA). The Eagles had intended to face PWA Heavyweight Champion Robbie Eagles in a non-title match for the main event but the Eagles had to cancel due to his injury. For the first time, Ospreay defeated the Eagles and took the PWA Heavyweight Championship for the first time. Ospreay revealed later that he was heading to Australia and would begin working regularly for PWA and other local independent organizations. Osprey said he wanted to help the Australian wrestling scene develop, but the UK scene does not need him. Ospreay faced Adam Brooks in the main event of a Melbourne City Wrestling show, Ballroom Brawl, defeating him to win the MCW Intercommonwealth Championship days later.

Hiroshi Tanahashi, New Japan wrestlers, and Okada recommended him to NJPW after the Global Wars UK event in which Ospreay defeated Kazuchika Okada. Ospreay was announced as the newest member of the NJPW stable Chaos on March 3, 2016. Ospreay challenged Kushida to an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship match at Invasion Attack 2016 on April 10, 2016, despite appearing in a video. In his title challenge against Kushida on April 10, Ospreay failed. Following the match, NJPW had offered Ospreay a deal to become a regular for the promotion.

Following month, Ospreay entered the 2016 Best of the Super Juniors tournament. Ospreay battled Ricochet in the tournament on May 27th, a match that has gained a lot of buzz in the pro wrestling world. William Regal praised the match. Vader, on the other hand, likened the game to a "gymnastics routine." With a record of four victories and three losses, Ospreay made his way to the finals. Ospreay defeated Ryusuke Taguchi in the finals on June 7th, becoming the youngest champion of the tournament as well as the first English and fifth gaijin wrestler to win the tournament. Following the triumph, Osprey was given another shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, but Kushida defeated them again on June 19 in Osaka-jo Hall, but Kushida denied him again.

Ospreay defeated Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) representative Titán in his first round match on July 20th. Matt Sydal had been barred from the tournament in the second round on August 21. Ospreay fired his first shot at the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship on October 8th, but the defending champions, David Finlay, Ricochet, and Satoshi Kojima were defeated by him and his Chaos stablemates Beretta and Rocky Romero. At The New Beginning in Osaka, Ospreay, unsuccessfully challenged Katsuyori Shibata for the British Heavyweight Championship on November 11, 2017. Ospreay won his first round of the 2017 Best of the Super Juniors tournament for two years in May. Kushida defeated Osprey in the final on June 3rd.

Ospreay defeated Kushida to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship for the first time on October 9th. Ospreay became the first British IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion after winning. In his first defense at Power Struggle, he lost the title to Marty Scurll. On Monday, Ospreay regained the title from Scurll in a four-way match in Tokyo Dome, which also involved Hiromu Takahashi and Kushida. At The New Beginning in Osaka on February 10, Ospreay retained the title against Hiromu Takahashi. Ospreay won the title against Marty Scurll at Sakura Genesis on April 1st. Ospreay was clearly injured during the game when his foot strike the rope mid-rotation after attempting a Spanish Fly off the apron, causing him to land on top of the apron and begin bleeding profusely from his scalp. After successfully defending his crown in a rematch against Kushida, Taiji Ishimori, the new Bullet Club member, was targeted by Taiji Ishimori. He entered the 2018 Best of the Super Juniors, winning 5 victories and two losses, but he did not progress to the finals due to his defeat to Ishimori on the first day of the tournament. Hiromu Takahashi, the tournament's champion, lost the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship to Ospreay in Osaka-jo Hall on June 9th in his fourth defense. Osprey defeated Marty Scurll in a tournament to crown a new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, owing to Takahashi's neck injury and causing him to leave the belt, and requiring him to leave the belt.

Ospreay, Hirooki Goto and Tomohiko Ishii competed against Suzuki-gun, representing Minoru Suzuki, Takashi Izuka, and NEVER Openweight Champion Taichi, according to King of Pro-Wrestling (2018). The win was pinned by Osprey's victory over Taichi. After the match, Ospreay called Taichi out for a NEVER Openweight Championship match, hinting at a future in the Heavyweight division, but, Ospreay's stay in the Jr. Heavyweight division is also possible, since the Openweight division can be contested by individuals from either division. The match was made official for Power Struggle (2018), but it was revealed on Twitter that the match had been called off due to Ospreay's injury. Ospreay's return to New Japan on the final day of World Tag League has him defeating Taichi. He challenged Kota Ibushi, the newest NEVER Openweight champion, to a championship match at Wrestle Kingdom 13.

Will Ospreay defeated Kota Ibushi to win the NEVER Openweight Championship on January 4th in Wrestle Kingdom 13. He was the first Junior Heavyweight to win the championship. He served in his first title defense at RevPro New Year's Resolution, where he defeated Chris Brookes. At Honor Rising: Japan 2018, Ospreay successfully retained the title against Dalton Castle on February 22nd. In a losing effort at New Japan's Anniversary Exhibition, he met IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White.

Despite being classified as a Junior Heavyweight, Ospreay entered the 2019 New Japan Cup, defeating Bad Luck Fale and Lance Archer before being eliminated by fellow Chaos member Kazuchika Okada. In a Winner takes all match at G1 Supercard, Ospreay will face ROH Television Champion Jeff Cobb. Ospreay lost the match, despite losing his title to Cobb who kept his title.

Ospreay competed in the 2019 edition of Best of the Super Juniors, where he set a record of 7–2 in his block. He suffered defeat against long-time rivals Robbie Eagles and El Phantasmo in the preliminary rounds. For the second time, Osprey defeated Shingo Takagi to win the tournament for the second time, earning an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship match at Dominion on June 5th. The match between Ospreay and Shingo was given a 5.5 star rating by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the highest rating for a wrestling match in 2019. Shingo Takagi was also pinned in this match, as he was the first match in which Shingo Takagi was pinned after his debut in NJPW. For the third time in his career, Ospreay defeated Dragon Lee and became the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship at Dominion. Will Ospreay has reached a point in his career where he is a strong candidate for the world's best wrestler. Ospreay, who earned the title, has confirmed his intention to participate in the G1 Climax 29 in his attempt to close the gap between heavyweight and junior heavyweight wrestlers. Osprey was announced as a participant in the 2019 G1 Climax later this week. At the Southern Showdown in Melbourne, Ospreay made his first IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship title defense against Robbie Eagles.

Lance Archer defeated him in his G1 Climax campaign in Dallas, where he began his G1 Climax campaign. He won his first match by defeating Sanada but lost in the third round of the tournament against Kota Ibushi, a rematch from Wrestle Kingdom. He sustained a legitimate injury in the second and third rounds that nearly prevented him from participating in the G1 Climax in the future, but he managed to get cleared in a short amount of time. In the main events of Night 7 of the G1 Climax, Ospreay met Chaos' leader Kazuchika Okada but lost in another well-received match.

At Wrestle Kingdom 14, Osprey lost the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship to Hiromu Takahashi on January 4, 2020. He sustained a heel injury during the game, presumably from landing on his feet when Takahashi dropped him from the top rope.

Osprey was unsuccessful in winning the British Heavyweight Championship from Zack Sabre Jr. on February 2nd, defeating them in a tag team match between Chaos and Suzuki-guns. Ospreay faced Sabre Jr. in another match for the title, which had been arranged at RevPro's High Stakes tournament. Ospreay won the British Heavyweight Championship after beating Sabre Jr. Ospreay announced that he would be moving to the heavyweight division after the match.

Ospreay had intended to be part of the 2020 New Japan Cup, but NJPW suspended all of its operations in late February due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the company eventually reopened its New Japan Cup in June, travel restrictions due to the pandemic have barred the majority of international wrestlers from returning to Japan. Ospreay returned to Ospreay in September, where he scored in his second G1 Climax in the A Block, where he ended his G1 run with 12 points. After harassment from Ospreay's girlfriend Bea Priestley and the returning young lion Great-O-Khan on night 17 of the G1 Climax, Ospreay defeated Kazuchika Okada. After the match, Ospreay attacked Okada, turning heel, leaving Chaos, and establishing a new stable named United Empire. Ospreay also won the 2021 New Japan Cup as well as the right to face Kota Ibushi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Sakura Genesis. For the first time, Ospreay defeated Ibushi to win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship for the first time as well as becoming the first British holder of NJPW's top championship. When Ospreay defeated Shingo Takagi, he made his first defense of the title at Wrestling Dontaku. During the game, however, he sustained a neck injury and was compelled to leave the game on May 20, 2021.

Ospreay made a surprise return to Resurgence on August 14 just three months after recovering from his injury. Due to his never being disqualified for the title and a separate and matching belt, he declared himself to be the true IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. Shingo Takagi has also declared himself out of the G1 Climax 31. He also claimed that Shingo Takagi, the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, should be a "Interim champion" as well as a revealing himself out of the competition. He also confirmed that he would be competing on New Japan's "Strong" show Strong.

On January 5, Ospreay would face the winner of the January 4 main event to unify the World Championships in the build-up to Wrestle Kingdom 16. Kazuchika Okada won the World Championship on January 4, defeating Shingo Takagi. Okada defeated Ospreay on January 5th to win and unify both World Championships.

After his loss, Ospreay stayed in Japan, working with his United Empire colleagues. For the first time in the New Japan Cup, Ospreay was eventually confirmed. He defeated Bushi, El Phantasmo, and IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Sanada to advance to the tournament quarterfinals. Ospreay fractured Sanada's orbital bone, causing him to win the match by referee stoppage during his third-round match. He lost to eventual winner Zack Sabre Jr. in the quarterfinals, and Ospreay and former champion Hiroshi Tanahashi expressed interest in competing for the vacant title. Ospreay returned to Windy City Riot on Thursday to face Jon Moxley, who had been called out at Resurgence and in post-match interviews during his New Japan Cup run. He was defeated at the tournament. On May 14, Osprey vowed to win the US championship in a four-way match involving Tanahashi, Moxley, and Juice Robinson, but Robinson failed to win the championship after being pinned by Robinson. Osprey and Sanada were supposed to shoot in another title at Dominion 6.12 in Osaka-jo Hall on June 12, but Robinson was forced to leave the tournament due to appendicitis illness, so he was unbeaten.

Ospreay was also listed as a participant in the G1 Climax 32 tournament, which was also on June 12th as part of the D block. Ospreay scored 8 points in his block, progressing to the semi-finals and winning the physical IWGP United States Championship from former champion Juice Robinson and David Finlay, who both competed in the D Block. Ospreay won the semi-finals over C Block champion Tetsu Naito and advanced to the tournament finals. Ospreay lost to Okada in the finals.

Ring of Honor (ROH) reported on November 8th that Ospreay had signed a deal with the organization, which went into place on November 1st. Ospreay defeated Bobby Fish in his ROH debut match in Liverpool on November 18th to become the next ROH World Television Champion. During the final day of ROH's three-day tour of the United Kingdom, he lost the championship to Marty Scurll two days later. In a four corners match at ROH's Final Battle 2016, Ospreay had another chance to regain the title, but Scurll retained his title. Matt Taven defeated Ospreay in the final Battle of 2017. On ROH TV, Jay Lethal launched an open challenge, which was answered by Ospreay, who said, "I Need the World Championship." The match was called for ROH Death Before Dishonor, which Ospreay lost later that month.

Ospreay revealed in 2018 that he would be starting Frontline Wrestling, his own company. Frontline will be a British Puroresu style business, according to him, and the aim is to return wrestling in England to being seen as a sport. "Build Me An Empire" was the first event held in June 2018. Ospreay sold Frontline to Japan and focus on a full time schedule in New Japan Pro Wrestling on the one-year anniversary of the promotion.

Ospreay made his surprise debut for the All Elite Wrestling on June 8-2022, two weeks after United Empire teammates Great-O-Khan and Jeff Cobb debuted on AEW Dynamite by threatening Roppongi Vice and FTR, where he joined Trent Beretta and FTR, as a teammate. On June 10th, the 2022 edition of AEW Rampage, Beretta, and FTR swept United Empire's Osprey and Australian Open's Davis and Fletcher. On June 15th, Ospreay appeared in his first singles match, Road Rager's special edition, where he defeated Dax Harwood. After the match, Ospreay and the United Empire stablemates assaulted FTR and Roppongi Vice one more, only to be interrupted by Orange Cassidy, who stared down Ospreay. Both men were scheduled for a singles match against Orange Cassidy after the IWGP Unprovinced Door Forbidden Door of Ospreay's recently crowned IWGP Heavyweight Championship was scheduled. Ospreay and Aussie Open assaulted Cassidy and Roppongi Vice after the match, only to be stopped by Katsuyori Shibata, who assaulted the trio.

The inaugural tournament was announced on July 27, with Osprey and Australia Open being named as participants. Ospreay and Australia Open defeated Death Triangle in the semifinals on August 24, where they were defeated by The Elite on August 31. The Elite was fought by the Empire after the match.
