Early life, education, and childhood all have a long history.

Pigg was born in Nashville, Tennessee. His family moved to Oak Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and he and two of his siblings, Cari-Ann and Gabriel, performed commercial jingles with their father's direction as a boy. They all attended Grace Lutheran School in River Forest, Illinois.

He returned to Nashville as a youth. where he attended the Christ Presbyterian Academy in high school. During Pigg's childhood, his father gave him informal music instruction and stimulated his interest in music. He also thanks his mother for nourishing his poetic side.

Career

Pigg began a publicity tour in summer 2006 after his single "This Is The Way It Ends" was featured on the 6th season of television-drama series Grey's Anatomy and later became nationally syndicated, and he appeared on television talk shows and other media outlets, including a radio tour, Glamour, and Performing Songwriter magazines. Pigg appeared on TV show The Early Show in late August, where he performed "Can't Let Go," the first track from his album, LP (2006).

During several scenes of the One Tree Hill episode "Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers" (2006), his song "Great Companion" was performed.

Pigg has appeared on several television shows, including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. In 2007, his song "Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop" was featured in a De Beers commercial and later on an AT&T telephone commercial.

He appeared in A Fine Frenzy's video for the song "Happier" in 2009, portraying Alison Sudol's love interest.

Pigg co-wrote the song "Darling I Do" with Lucy Schwartz; it is the title track for the animated fantasy comedy film Shrek Forever After (2010).

He has appeared on the television show Parenthood heavily. On the Season 2 episode "The Booth Job" with Mae Whitman, Pigg sang "Gardenia" with Mae Whitman. He appeared on "Mr.," the third season of Parenthood. Honesty is in the name.

In Whip It, he also played Oliver, a character from Whip It. He portrayed Ruthless/Bliss' love interest, played by Elliot Page.
