Hebe Tien (Chinese: pinyin: Tián Fùzhen; born on March 30, 1983) is a Taiwanese singer and actor.
Born and raised in Taiwan, she rose to fame in the early 2000s as a member of the Taiwanese girl group S.H.E. To Hebe (2010), her debut album, established her as a solo artist.
In most Mandarin-speaking areas of Asia, Tien's song "A Little Happiness," the theme song on the 2015 Taiwanese film Our Times, was a big hit.
Early life
Tian Fuzhen was born in Xinfeng, Hsinchu, Taiwan, on March 30th, 1983. Her father is a public servant, her mother is a housewife, and her older brother owned an American-Mexico restaurant in Zhubei. She graduated from Hukou High School in Hsinchu. Tien once said that if she had not been a singer, she would have been a public servant as her father after university. Tien made her television debut in 1999 by playing flute in the 'Rediculous Beauty' segment of the CTV variety show Guess, where she performed flute and another on TV Citizen, where she showcased her singing skills and earned 10,000 NTD.
Career
The production team invited Tien to appear on the show again shortly after she was shown on the show television Citizen, and Grand Music International (currently HIM International Music) invited her for an audition. The "Universal 2000 Talent and Beauty Girl Competition" was held on August 8, 2000, in the hopes of finding new artists to be signed to their catalog. Tien was encouraged to participate in this televised competition by the staff of the television show "Cruel Stage." Around 1,000 participants were eligible, and seven contestants remained in the final round after multiple rounds of competition. Tien's voice began to crack while singing "Return Home" in the first round. As a result, she decided to perform in a lower key in the final round, selecting "Live You" by Singaporean singer Kit Chan. However, she was still unfamiliar with the song, so about ten seconds of the final lyrics went unsung. Following the competition, the Taiwanese record firm gave all seven contestants an audition. Time Will Tell was Tien's fifth studio album and she appeared for four nights at her sold-out second concert tour One, After Another at the Taipei Arena, and she was welcomed at the Taipei Arena in September. She was the second artist next to Eric Chou to stage a concert tour in Taiwan after the COVID-19 pandemic started.
