In-soo Kang Career

Life and career

Kang In-soo was born in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, on March 10, 1988. He had a failed application to Anyang Arts High School in the Department of Theater and Film, as an aspiring actor. He reapplied to the dance program as his second choice and was accepted. He avoided dancing for the first two years, instead opting for singing and music lessons. He was required to produce a dance piece in order to graduate from high school. After seeing the teacher's moves, a male dance teacher came to assist with the students' production. Kang "fell in love" with ballet. During his last year in high school, he explored modern dance in lieu of ballet. Despite not knowing how to dance, he passed Sejong University's concours and was accepted as a dance major. He graduated from the university and spent two years as a ballet instructor for rhythmic gymnasts Son Yeon-jae and Shin Soo-ji. He later attended Korea National Open University.

He opted to audition for Ballet and Music after debating between ballet and music, and after his appearance on the program, he began receiving "love calls" from various entertainment companies, which he turned down for a bid to test out for Fly to the Sky's Hwanhee under H2 Media. After failing the audition, he sat by a water purifier at the company's entrance and welcomed employees for the following seven days in a row in order to make them recognize his name. "I did it because I wanted to show them how excited I was and that I can do it," he explained. As a result, he was encouraged to practice and became a trainee under the name.

Kang is a vocalist in the Myname idol group. In 2011, the band "Message" debuted on their debut single. Kang appeared in the film Shinokubo Story (2013), where he appeared in five different people aspiring to become "stars." On September 6, 2017, he released his first solo mini-album Naked in Japan. Kang's musical style was influenced by Big Bang's Taeyang, JYJ's Kim Junsu, Chris Brown, and Usher. The day before Naked's announcement, he held a press conference at the Tower Records store in Shibuya, drawing in 400 people. The mini-album debuted at number 19 on Japan's national Oricon Albums Chart, racking 3,346 copies in its first week. In late September, Kang performed two solo concerts to advertise Naked.

On October 26, 2017, Kang was enlisted in military service. At the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, he received military service.
