Career
Jessie J had signed to Gut Records, recording an album for the brand, but the label went bankrupt before any material was released. She then found success as a writer, winning a Sony ATV publishing deal. During Lauper's UK dates of her 2008 Bring Ya to the Brink tour (Lauper invited J to join her on stage for "Girls Just Want to Have Fun"), she was also the support act for Cyndi Lauper's 2008 Bring Ya to the Brink tour (Lauper invited J to join her on stage for "Girls Just Want to Have Fun").
