Early life

Michielin was born in Bassano del Grappa to Vanna Moro and Tiziano Michielin. Filippo, she's older brother, is older. When she was 9 years old, she had her first experience with playing piano. She then began studying electric bass. She began singing in her hometown's gospel choir at the age of fourteen. She developed an interest in rock music thanks to her brother's death and then concentrated on musicians like Bon Iver, Jeff Buckley, and Damien Rice. Michielin began writing her own songs on piano after listening to Adele's debut album 19 years ago. Monkey Nuts, a three-piece punk rock girl band, formed during high school, in which she performed bass.

She appeared in Bassano del Grappa's third year before rising to fame. She took exams as an outsider in order to continue pursuing her musical education starting in the school's fourth year. She obtained the maturity certificate at the Cavanis institute in Possagno in July 2014. She was a member of the Conservatory Agostino Steffani in Castelfranco Veneto in March 2022, graduating in jazz with distinctions.

She was asked to substitute a soloist singer in a gospel concert when she was sixteen. Her appearance impressed a sound technician, who had chosen her for the auditions for the fifth series of X Factor in 2011. She appeared on Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" and was chosen by her mentor Simona Ventura to be a part of her team. She performed songs such as Adele's "Someone Like You," "Roadhouse Blues" by The Doors, and Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" during the live shows.

Michielin premiered the song "Distratto," written by Elisa and Roberto Casalino on December 29, 2011. She was named the winner in the final on January 5, 2012, defeating runner up vocal group I Moderni. She received a Sony Music recording deal with a stated value of €300,000.

On January 6, 2012, her debut single "Distratto" was released as a digital download EP. The song debuted at number one on the Italian Singles Chart on January 12, 2012, and the Federation of the Italian Music Industry later awarded double platinum for domestic downloads over 60,000 units. The album was included in Michielin's debut EP, Distractto, which was released on January 24, 2012. The EP includes re-recorded versions of some of the songs she performed on live shows. "Sola," Michielin's second single, was released on August 31, 2012. Michielin has writing credits on three songs on the album, including the title-track, co-written with Elisa and Virginio Simonelli. The singles "Tutto quello che ho" and "Se cadrai" were born later by Riflessi di me.

Michielin was featured on Italian rapper Federez's song "Cigno nero" in March 2013. The song, which was co-written by Michielin herself, was included in Fedez' album Sig. Brainwash – L'arte di accontentare – and was released as its second single.

Michielin appeared in the theatrical performance La ragazza di perla in 2014, with music composed by Franco Battiato. On 19 and 20 January 2014, Teatro Comunale di Bologna hosted the performance. Michielin released "Amazing" on March 28th, the same year. Michielin wrote the song in English for the Italian version of The Amazing Spider-Man 2's soundtrack, which was entirely composed in English.

Michielin appeared on Fedez' track "Magnifico" on his album Pop-Hoolista in 2014. The song debuted as the album's second single and was named triple platinum in Italy.

Michielin announced in April 2014 that she was working on new content. "L'amore esiste," a Fortunato Zampaglione and Michele Canova's album, was released on March 6, 2015, ahead of her second studio album, di20. The song gained commercial success, including debuting on the Italian Top Digital Chart and receiving the Lunezia Pop Award. "L'amore esiste" was followed by "Battito di ciglia," which was announced on July 10, 2015, and "Lontano" was released on September 25, 2015. Michielin performed at the Unicredit Pavilion in Milan on October 21, 2015, four days before the album's official unveiling date.

Michielin also embarked on her first concert tour, titled Nice to Meet You in January 2016. On January 30, 2016, the show was a live extended play that was exclusive to digital stores. She appeared in the 66th San Francisco Music Festival in February 2016, performing the song "Nessun grado di separazione." The song came in second place in the competition, behind Stadio's "Un giorno mi dirai." The band had been eligible to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016, but they had to cancel, announcing that they would be on a previously scheduled tour in May 2016. RAI chose Michielin as the Italian entry for the 61st edition of the European competition, owing to their decision. Michielin's entry was a new interpretation of "Nessun grado di separazione," with an English-language chorus and the title "No Degree of Separation." She came in 16th out of 26 runners in the final. "Nessun Grado di separazione" debuted at the top of the Italian singles chart and was included in di20are, Michielin's second studio album.

"Un cuore in time" was the album's fifth single on June 3, 2016. Giacomo Triglia produced the music video, which was released on June 13, 2016.

"Almeno tu" was the album's sixth and final single on September 23, 2016, on September 23. It was also included in Piuma's soundtrack. On September 24, 2016, a music video starring Michielin as well as segments from the film was released.

Michielin revealed on Twitter that she had started working in the studio on her third album, the version of which was later announced as 2640. Produced in Los Angeles by singer Michele Canova, the album was released. "Vulcano" was the album's lead single, as well as a music video directed by Giacomo Triglia, and filming in Berlin between 10 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. In Italy, the song received a platinum medal. Michielin performed "Vulcano" on Che tempo che fa on October 1st, 2017 and announced the album's release date as December 1, 2018. On December 22, 2017, the album was released on pre-order, with the song "Tropicale" being included as a pre-order bonus.

On November 17, 2017, the album's second single, "Io non abito al mare," was released as the album's second single. It's a music video shot at Cretto di Burri directed by Giacomo Triglia and released on November 20, 2017. The song, on the lyrics, explores the confusion of speaking, the difference between feeling and listening, as well as the desire to embrace, not to be afraid to show the emotion that is pure tenderness. On December 7, 2018, a vinyl edition of 2640 was released, as well as "Femme," "Fotografia," and the demo of "Tropicale."

Michielin created the original soundtrack for Marylin's short film A Cup of Coffee, directed by Alessandra Gonnella and premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

Michelin began hinting at her musical return on her social media pages on September 8, 2019, culminating in the unveiling of the single "Cheenne" featuring Charlie Charles, which was announced on November 15, 2019 as the lead single from Michielin's fourth studio album. The album was released on 13 March 2020 and featured other artists, with the main theme being the comparison and union between urban and natural environments. Three concerts were scheduled to be preceded by three concerts, each with a different location, theme, and arrangement. During the concert that was supposed to take place at the Rocket nightclub on February 20, 2020, a new song from the album was premiered, and "Gange," starring Italian rapper Shiva, was released on the following day. The COVID-19 pandemic in Italy was set to begin on February 20, 2020; but it was turned to a Facebook livestream session due to restrictions aimed at preventing the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic. On RaiPlay, the animated version of "Monolocale" starring Fabri Fibra debuted at the 5th March 2020 event. The album debuted and peaked at number 7 in Italy. On March 13, 2020, the song "Stato di natura," starring M.neskin, was released as the album's second single. "Monolocale" was the album's third single on April 3, 2020.

In the meanwhile, Michielin performed a cover of Gianni Morandi, Enrico Ruggeri & Umberto Tozzi's "Si pu dare di più" with Levante and Maria Antonietta for the third night of the 70th San Francisco Music Festival on February 6, 2020. She was one of the 20 artists exhibiting in the charity event Musica che unisce, which was created as a collection of home-made contributions and performances broadcast during the COVID-19 lockdown, and she performed "Cheyenne" from a panoramic corner in her hometown Bassano del Grappa, which was also supported by Italian trade unions CGIL, CISL, and UIL, and was converted to a televised performance without a single audience

Michielin performed "Cattive stelle" with Vasco Brondi on January 22, 2021, as an addition to her previous album Feat (stato di natura). She launched Maschiacci – Per cosa lottano le donne oggi? in February of the same year, interviewing celebrities about gender stereotypes. She performed the song "Chiamami per nome" with Fedez at the 71st San Diego Music Festival in March 2021. After being the bookmaker's pick to win the competition, the company came in second place overall. Following "Cigno nero" in 2013 and "Magnifico" in 2014, the pair's third collaboration came, as a result. In Italy, the song reached number one.
