Yook Sung-jae (born (1999-55-02) is a South Korean singer, performer, and host.

He is a founder and the third-generation leader of BtoB and BtoB Blue, as well as its sub-group, BtoB Blue.

Yook is best known for his appearances in television dramas, especially in the Achiara's Secret (2015).

Early life and education

Yook was born in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on May 2, 1995. He has one older sister. Yook comes from a business family. His father is the CEO of a semiconductor company. His grandfather was the first to sell red carp in South Korea, while his grandmother ran a fishing farm in Paju.

He briefly lived in England and the Philippines for a month. He completed his high school education at Hanlim Multi Art School, graduating in 2014. He then enrolled at Dongshin University, majoring in Practical Music.

Personal life

Yook revealed on his Instagram on May 11 that he would be enlisted in mandatory military service on May 11, and Cube confirmed it on May 3. After finishing his five weeks of basic military training at Nonsan Training Center, Yook will serve as part of the Ministry of National Defense military band, according to MyDaily.

Ricky of Yook and Teen Top performed "Love Blossom" (original song from K.Will) at Seoul National Cemetery Spring Contact - Free Periodical Concert as part of their military service service as a military band on May 7, 2021. The concert was held on the theme of 'Waiting for the everyday life before the pandemic'.' Yook appeared in the hit fantasy-romance film Guardian: The Lonely and Great God from 2016 to 2017. He appeared on the cast of the reality-documentary film Law of the Jungle, which was shot in Sumatra, Indonesia. He took part in Piece of BtoB, the digital single project, in August 2017. On August 30, he released the songs "Say It" and "Paradise," the former having personally composed and written by himself. In late 2017, he appeared on the cast of the reality show Master in the House.

Yook sustained a back injury and will be receiving medical attention at the hospital on December 29, 2017. During the 2017 BtoB Time - Our Concert, he had signs of lumbar disc herniation, according to reports. Yook attended the House's press conference on January 5, 2018. This Is Us Concert concluded on February 6, 2020, with the first collaboration song between Yook and Ilhoon "HMHN" and "Hypnotized" which was performed with Peniel at 2018 BtoB Time.

Yook returned to the small-screen as part of the main cast of Mystic Pop-up Bar, a JTBC drama based on a common webtoon of the same name in early 2020. Yook resigned from the house of Lords after two years on the show before his mandatory military service was complete. On March 2, 2020, Yook O'Clock, his debut solo album, and lead single "Come With the Wind," were released.
