Ryan Destiny Irons (born January 8, 1995) is an American singer and actress.

While she had been working in the music industry since childhood, Destiny first rose to fame as a member of the girl-group Love Dollhouse in 2013.

Destiny is best known for her role in the Fox TV musical drama Star.

Early life and education

Destiny was born in Detroit, Michigan. Her father is a member of the 90s R&B group Guesss. Destiny attended West Bloomfield High School. In January 2011, Destiny won a singing contest to attend the red carpet premiere of Justin Bieber's Never Say Never.

Personal life

Ryan Destiny was in a relationship with actor Keith Powers from late 2017 until 2022. After 4 years together, the break up was announced by People Magazine online exclusive on January 18, 2022.

Career

The 12-year-old Destiny formed the musical trio New Limits in junior high school. The trio, coached by Dawn, qualified for America's Got Talent in 2010 and made it to the finals before deciding it wasn't for them. Destiny had signed with Universal Republic by 2011! Destiny and her manager performed auditions, resulting in the formation of "Love Dollhouse," a group based in Russell Simmons, Steve Rifkind, and Brian Robbins. "Can I" was the group's debut single. In 2015, the organisation was disbanded.

Destiny also revealed plans for a solo EP in 2016. In 2018, she released her first single "The Same," which included rapper Tobi Lou. In 2020, her second single, "Do You," was released.

Destiny appeared in a web series The Wannabes Starring Savvy in 2010. In 2011, she and her mother moved to Los Angeles to begin auditioning for films. Low Winter Sun, a Detroit-based crime drama, appeared in several episodes in 2013. Destiny appeared in the independent film A Girl Like Grace starring Garcelle Beauvais, Meagan Good, and Raven-Symoné later. In June 2015, Ty Hodges' directed film premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Destiny first booked Tiana on Lee Daniels' hit musical drama Empire, but she was unable to accept the role due to her All Def Music commitment. Destiny landed Alexandra in David's book Star in December 2015, opposite Queen Latifah. The series premiered on Fox on December 14, 2016 and ended after three seasons in 2019.

Destiny was cast in Flint Strong, a Universal Pictures biopic written by Barry Jenkins and directed by Rachel Morrison in November 2019.

Destiny has been on season 3 of Grown-ish as Jillian, a transfer student from Spelman College.
