Louisa Rose Allen (born 29 April 1989), known professionally as Foxes, is a British singer, songwriter and model.

Her vocals were featured on Zedd's 2012 single "Clarity", which peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. Foxes' debut album, Glorious, was released in the United Kingdom in 2014 and features the top 20 singles "Youth", "Let Go for Tonight" and "Holding onto Heaven".

Her second album, All I Need, was released on 5 February 2016.

The album includes the top 25 single "Body Talk", as well as "Better Love", "Amazing" and "Cruel".

Early life and education

Allen was born in Southampton, Hampshire, and grew up in the city's Swaythling and St Denys areas. She attended St Denys Primary School, Cantell School, and Eastleigh College. She started writing music when she was 14 years old and reached the final of a local talent competition in 2009. At 18 years old, she considered training as a beauty therapist, but her sister persuaded her to move to London to pursue her singing ambitions. She attended the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance but dropped out, preferring to write and perform music than study it.

Allen developed a stage name in order to distinguish herself from British pop singer Lily Allen. Following a suggestion from a friend, her mother told her that she had a dream the previous night about these foxes running up our street and making these beautiful sounds; she then told her that she had a dream the previous night. Allen based on this link. In 2011, she began performing as Foxes in London.

"Youth" was Foxes' debut on Neon Gold Records in January 2012, and the following month was published by Sign of the Times, a Simon Fuller-owned UK imprint of Sony Music Entertainment. In the American television series "Youth" and its B-side, "Home," were starred, as well as Sam Kennedy's EP, Warrior, which Foxes marketed in July 2012 as "Youth" and its B-side, "Home." Warrior was described as "a beautifully ethereal EP that warrants all sorts of comparisons, but also stands on its own two feet," according to PopMatters, "Fi Fion Florence Welch and Katy Perry were a beautiful, brunette love child." Foxes toured with Marina and the Diamonds on her Lonely Hearts Club Tour in 2012 and released "Echo," her second single.

Zedd, a dancer who had invited Foxes to appear on his album "Clarity," caught his attention with his "Youth" video. "Clarity" was released as a single in late 2012 and debuted as a top hit on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Hot Dance Club Songs in 2013, achieving number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the Hot Dance Club Songs. In Australia, platinum in the United States, and gold in the United Kingdom, where it reached number 27 on the UK Singles Chart. Zedd and Foxes received the Best Dance Recording award at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. Foxes appeared on Fall Out Boy's album "Just One Yesterday" (a top 20 hit in the United Kingdom) and his album Torus' "Until the End" (a top 20 hit) on his album "Just One Yesterday" (a top 20 hit) and his album "Until the End" (A top 20 hit).

In May 2013, Foxes' "teaser" single "Beauty Queen" was released in May 2013, followed by a US re-release of "Youth" in August 2013. "Youth" debuted on the singles chart in the United Kingdom in October 2013, coincident to the song's use in a high-profile advertising campaign for retailer Debenhams. Foxes embarked on a headline tour of the United Kingdom in late 2013. In February 2014, a new recording of "Let Go for Tonight," a track that had previously appeared on the Warrior EP, debuted as a single in the United Kingdom, debuting at number seven—Foxes' first top ten hit.

Foxes appeared on BBC Radio 1's Innuendo Bingo on April 17, 2014. Following the single "Holding to Heaven" (number 14), Foxes' debut album, Glorious, was released in May 2014 and debuted at number five on the UK Albums Chart. In August 2014, a fourth single, "Glorious," was released, and it was used in an ITV commercial campaign to advertise the network's fall season of shows. Foxes appeared on R&B musician Pharrell's Dear Girl Tour's opening act, touring arenas around Europe between September and October 2014. After hearing her interview of his hit single "Happy" on Radio 1's Live Lounge, Pharrell personally offered a Foxes support slot; Foxes later sued the X Factor for copying her version of "Happy" for a live broadcast of the song by contestant Lauren Platt; as both versions interpolated the Massive Attack song "Teardrop." Foxes appeared in the episode "Mummy on the Orient Express" in October, as a part of the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who's "Don't Stop Me Now" on Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now." Foxes toured the United Kingdom once more in December as a headliner.

In a late 2014 interview, Foxes revealed that she had begun working on her second album. She also collaborated with veteran dancer Giorgio Moroder on his 2015 solo album, Déjà Vu, which appears on the track "Wildstar." Foxes said in subsequent interviews that the album is named All I Need and that she hopes to debut it in late 2015. Recording sessions took place in America, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

All I Need was revealed on February 5, 2016. "Body Talk," the album's first single, was released in July 2015 and debuted at number 25 on the UK Singles Chart. During a one-day tour of seven UK cities, Foxes debuted the track, earning her an entry to Guinness World Records for the number "most live concerts in 12 hours in several cities." In July, the album's track listing and a video for the song "Feet Don't Fail Me Now" were also announced. In September 2015, "Better Love," the second single, was released. Following this Foxes' headline UK tour, Izzy Bizu was introduced by them. On December 4, 2015, the third single "Amazing" was released. ITV used the word "amazing" to advertise their Christmas programs. Foxes were featured on Kygo's album "Oasis," which was released on May 13, 2016. On the 19th of April 2016, All I Need's fourth single, "Cruel," was released, as well as a accompanying music video. Foxes was confirmed to be one of the support acts for British alternative rock band Coldplay in the European and North American leg of their Ahead Full of Dreams Tour, alongside Alessia Cara.

Foxes' "Scar" was used to advertise Grantchester's third film in March 2017. "Better Love," "Let Go For Tonight," and "Clarity" were among her scripts at the Indonesian Television Awards on September 20, 2017. Foxes teased of new music in February 2018, saying, "Thank you for your patience with this upcoming album." This year, I will be releasing new music, and I can't wait to share it with you."

Foxes teased of new music on her social media pages by posting three videos, one per day, depicting her asking a question. These videos were accompanied by a phone number that one could dial to answer the question. "Love Not Loving You," her first solo debut in four years, was the lead single from her forthcoming project, "Love Not Loving You." Foxes also confirmed that they had signed a new record deal with PIAS Recordings, making the single her first appearance under the brand. "Woman," was released on July 29, 2020, on the second single from "Woman." "Mates in the Corner" and "Hollywood" were followed by the third and fourth singles on September 2nd, 2020, respectively. Clash magazine described the former as a "cathartic encounter."

Foxes unveiled the single "Kathleen" on March 17th and announced the debut of her second EP Friends in the Corner, which would include all previously released singles as well as two new songs. The EP was first published on April 1, 2021. Foxes confirmed that her forthcoming third studio album would be based on completely new content and is scheduled for a release later this year. On September 15, 2021, "Sister Ray" was the lead single from that album. Foxes announced The Kick, her third studio album, on September 16th, was announced on October 16, 2022.
