David von Erich Life

David Alan Adkisson (July 22, 1958 – February 10, 1984) was an American professional wrestler best known by the ring name David Von Erich.

Von Erich, a founding member of the Von Erich family, is best known for his wrestling promotions in Dallas, Texas, owned by his father, Fritz Von Erich.

In 2009, Von Erich was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Early life

David was named after his mother, Doris' brother David, who died only months before David Von Erich was born in 1958. David Smith, Doris' brother (real name Eugene David Smith) died of a brain tumor at the age of 14.

Fritz, along with brothers Kevin and Kerry, loved hunting and fishing with their father; It was a lot of fun to hunt on the Von Erich ranch. Many of their relatives and friends will participate, and in some cases the hunting party will be 20 or more members. Bill Mercer, WCCW Referee David Manning, and WCCW Announcer Bill Mercer were both present in the group. David's first love in life was raising horses, which turned out to be very profitable for him. Apart from the family business of wrestling, he raised and sold quarter horses and horses for show and made his own money doing so.

Adkisson, a high school basketball player and a football player at Lake Dallas High School, was a member of the Basketball Association and a football player. He was given a scholarship to North Texas State University to play basketball and football. David dropped out to pursue a wrestling career that he began in June 1977, adopting the name David Von Erich.

Personal life

Candy L. McLeod was David's first marriage. The couple were married in Denton, Texas, on June 26, 1978. Natosha Zoeanna Adkisson (19th October 1978 - 29th December 1978) and her daughter, Natosha Zoeanna Adkisson (19th October 1978 - 29th December 1978). At 13 weeks old, Natosha died of SIDS. David and his wife separated just after and were officially divorced on July 12, 1979. On June 8, 1982, David married Patricia A. For the second time. Tricia is a region in the United States. The couple were married before David's death. Tricia was interviewed for The Wrestler magazine in June 1984, which was a salute to David. She described how she adored the fans and thanked them for their help. Since that interview, Tricia has been out of the public eye.

David von Erich Career

Professional wrestling career

He was described as a breakout star of his family, thanks to his fiery demeanor that gave unforgettable interviews. He lost his first big match on August 15, 1977, when he defeated the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race to a 30-minute draw. In early 1979, David made his first appearance in Missouri and was immediately popular with the fans and the promoters alike. On May 27, 1979, David wrestled in Missouri in a non-title match and defeated him with the Iron Claw due to his fame at the time.

David made his first and only appearance in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in November 1979, defeating Davey O'Hannon at Madison Square Garden. In late 1981, David left Texas and struck out on his own, heading to Florida and competing as a heel. David was supervised by J. J. Dillon in Florida, and he was in the same stable as Kendo Nagasaki and Jimmy Garvin. Dory Funk, Jr., David's mentor in Florida, and during that time David teamed with Dory or his brother Terry Funk in lieu of singles competition. Barry Windham, Mr. Wrestling II, Eric Embry, Sweet Brown Sugar, and Butch Reed were among the memorable opponents. David was back in Texas by July 1982.

During his time in Florida, David met and became close friends with Jimmy Garvin, urging Garvin to join World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in Texas in early 1983, which culminated in David winning the held-up NWA Texas Heavyweight Championship at The Tarrant County Convention Center on July 4, 1983. Garvin and his valet Sunshine were compelled to serve as David's valets for a day as a result of David's triumph, with the day's findings being shown on the WCCW weekly news. Both David and Jimmy created the entire scene. They went back and forth several times, before the belt was held up several times, and finally, when the conflict came to an end (David continuing the Von Erich feud with Chris Adams), both men should move on to the next chapter in their lives.

David was also casting behind the scenes in WCCW and assisting in numerous shots in the fall of 1982. He had invited the Fabulous Freebirds to visit WCCW. Michael Hayes made his debut at the Sportatorium on Saturday, October 16, 1982, and Terry Gordy made his debut at the Sportatorium two weeks later on October 30, 1982. Buddy Roberts did not turn up. The Freebirds were first booked as faces in the run-up to the Christmas spectacular "Wrestling Star Wars" card at Reunion Arena on December 25, 1982.

David took Buddy Roberts' spot in the Freebirds against Tom Sharpe, Mike Sharpe & Ben Steel in the final match to crown the first-ever Six-Man Champions. David was the champion of the match and the championship, but David gave his third of the title to Buddy Roberts right after the match. David Hayes and David Manning, the referees, defeated NWA World Champion Ric Flair in a Steel Cage later that evening. Hayes knocked out Flair and threatened to give the pin (and World Championship) to Von Erich during the match, but Kerry refused to allow Kerry the liberty of leave the cage, and Gordy slammed the cage door on Kerry's head. So the Von Erich/Freebird feud was born.

David & Kerry defeated the Freebirds in 1983 and 1984 at "Wrestling Star Wars," while Terry Gordy defeated the Freebirds in a Handcuff Match at "Star Wars" in Ft. Worth, and David & Kerry's next-to-last match was against Terry Gordy on February 3, 1984. David, who died on the same day as Hayes, defeated the NWA National National Championship, his first title ever. This title is now part of the All Japan Pro Wrestling Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship.

On September 16, 1983, David won the NWA Missouri Heavyweight Championship from Ric Flair, then losing the title to the Harley Race on January 6, 1984. Many within the industry believe David's tenure as the NWA World Heavyweight Championship was his final step to winning the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in January 1984, when the NWA Championship Committee reportedly voted for him from Ric Flair in March or April of that year. When David defeated Flair at Reunion Arena on December 25, 1983, David and Ric Flair were able to establish an angle, and Flair retained the NWA World Championship. Ric Flair appeared on the NWA television show on December 31, 1983, not a good wrestler, and he could defeat Mike in 60 seconds with one hand tied behind his back.

David did perhaps his most intense interview ever in an interview in Ft. Worth on January 9, 1984, telling Flair that he had heard Flair's remarks about Mike and that he had a proposal. Mike will face Flair in a "10 Minute Challenge Match," and if Flair beat Mike in those ten minutes, David would not get to see the time, date, and every stipulation for his match against Ric Flair. On January 30, 1984, Ric Flair and Mike Von Erichich were competing in the "10 Minute Challenge match" at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Ft. Worth, Texas. Flair was unable to pin Mike in the ten minutes, and as a result, David took the challenge. David Von Erich, a week later in what would be his last interview, expressed his excitement over Mike's absence for ten minutes with Ric Flair, promising that he (David) will now have every single stipulation in David's return match with Flair. After David's return to Texas at the end of February, the big game was supposed to be held somewhere in about April 1984, Flair and he would have a chance to make the match even more exciting. On February 7, he defeated Kamala by DQ in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
