Stevie Ray Career

Professional wrestling career

Lash Huffman began wrestling on the Texas independent circuit in 1989 as Super Collider. He first began feuding with his brother, Booker (who was G.I.) in Ivan Putski's Western Wrestling Alliance. Bro (at the time) went by the ring name Jive Soul Bro. Stevie Ray (named after a group of singers Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles) joined the Global Wrestling Federation's tag team The Ebony Experience (on ESPN), where he first worked with his brother Stevie Ray. They were confronted and rivals with Iceman King Parsons and Brickhouse Brown's "Blackbirds." They have won the GWF Tag Team Championship three times. In 1993, Stevie Ray went on to win the GWF North American Heavyweight Championship.

They qualified for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in August 1993 and renamed their squad to Harlem Heat. Lash was originally known as Kane, but Booker became Kole. They were then billed from Harlem. They were on Harley Race and Collect and Collapsy. At Fall Brawl, Rob Parker's crew met with Vader and Sid Vicious against Sting, Davey Boy Smith, Dustin Rhodes, and The Shockmaster on September 19, 1993. Booker (Kole) was disqualified from the game after Shockmaster ordered him to submit, but they lost the game. They hired Sister Sherri as their boss and changed their names to Booker T and Stevie Ray in 1994. They fought with Stars and Stripes (The Patriot and Buff Bagwell) for the first time and won the WCW Tag Team Championships for the first time.

They argued with The Nasty Boys (Jerry Sags and Brian Knobs) and became engaged with Col. Parker's "Stud Stable" of Dick Slater and Bunkhouse Buck, where Parker and Sherri were engaged in a love feud. Stevie and Booker lost the titles to the Nasty Boys during this period, recovered them, but then lost them to Slater and Buck and regained them. Parker was eventually promoted to manager as a result of Slater and Buck's departure to Sherri. In 1995, Harlem Heat defeated the WCW World Tag Team Championship three times, exchanging the competition with The American Males (Bagwell and Scotty Riggs) in the early fall. They had brief feuds with Lex Luger and Sting, swapping the two titles back and forth in early 1996 and The Road Warriors, before embarking on a long rivalry with Rick and Scott Steiner in 1996.

When Nash used Parker's cane to attack Stevie in October, they lost their titles to The Outsiders, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall. They'll then fire the Colonel, beat him up, turn face, and launch a brief feud against Parker's new team, the Amazing French Canadians, which they will win. The Steiners and the New World Order clashed in 1997 with Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and Rocco Rock), the public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and Rocco Rock). They fired Sherri and hired Jacqueline, their first boss since 1997. They were briefly put out of action by the nWo and returned to feud with The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian).

Stevie had to take some time off from WCW from January to June as 1998 began. In the meantime, Booker T will continue to win the WCW World Television Championship. Stevie would win his first singles title in WCW if Booker missed time off with an injury as a television champion from July to October, earning him a "power of attorney" to protect Booker's belt. He got involved with Chavo Guerrero Jr. for a short time over the right to defend the belt before handing it to Chris Jericho afterwards. Stevie Ray had returned to the ring by June 1998, and the nWo's burgeoning gang-like faction had been divided into two groups: Hollywood Hogan's nWo Hollywood and Kevin Nash's nWo Wolfpact. Stevie Ray would be invited to a nWo Hollywood film, but first was tentative. In August, he will join the "black and white" team, effectively turning him heel. Despite the fact that Stevie Ray would be infamous for using dirty tactics and a power-in-numbers mentality, his brother, Booker, expressed no resentment and applauded Stevie Ray's decision to join the nWo, and the two men were able to peacefully coexist. Meanwhile, Booker was gradually rising in rank and winning championship titles, gaining attention as a face, gaining the WCW roster and winning championship titles.

Stevie Ray would tag team with Horace Hogan and Scott Norton as well as compete in singles competition, often with Vincent at ringside. He also participated in the War Games of Fall Brawl 1998 alongside Hollywood Hogan and Bret Hart. The slapjack became Stevie Ray's most popular weapon, which he would often use to knock an opponent unconscious, mainly when the referee was distracted. Both nWo factions had bonded back together by early 1999, but nWo Hollywood's members started arguing over who the subpoena was. Hollywood Hogan began to tell several people in private that he had granted them official positions, causing confusion and conflict among members. Stevie Ray won the leadership role in a 4-man brawl on WCW Monday Nitro's April 5, 1999 episode, defeating Horace Hogan, Brian Adams, and Vincent.

Stevie Ray started assisting Booker T during his matches as tensions between members of nWo Hollywood escalated. The two reunited Harlem Heat in July as Booker was getting ganged up on in July. They began feuding with Barry and Kendall Windham, as well as The Jersey Triad of Diamond Dallas Page, Chris Kanyon, and Bam Bam Bigelow. They went on to win the Tag Championships three more times, earning them the 10 times champions.

Midnight, a female bodybuilder, had joined Harlem Heat by late 1999. Stevie regained her care and started arguing with Booker over her. He eventually met Midnight in a match that would determine whether or not she will stay with Harlem Heat. Stevie Ray will form Harlem Heat, Inc. with Big T, Kash, and J. Biggs after being disappointed with a surprise little box. In a match with Big T versus Booker on February 20, 2000 at SuperBrawl X, they obtained the rights to the Harlem Heat name.

Stevie reformed Big T, Kash, and Biggs (who all left WCW) and helped Booker T get out of a jam in May. He went from in-ring action to become a colour commentator for the WCW Thunder. Stevie referred to all of the women as "yaks" and coined his phrase "Suckas got to know." He also gave an in-depth look at a wrestler's point of view during matches and regularly chastised wrestlers for mistakes made in the ring. For example, he would often say that a wrestler "should have gone [sic] for the front page."

or "needed to hook the leg!"

Stevie Ray, who was based on this information, was given the nickname "Straightshootin'" because of his success. Stevie made it back to WCW for one more match (a title vs. career match) against Scott Steiner on November 27, 2000's WCW Monday Nitro, which he lost. WCW was purchased by the WWF in March 2001, just a few months later. Stevie did not want to go to WWF.

Stevie Ray, Buff Bagwell in 2001 and Ernest Miller in 2002, both retired later this year after WWF bought WCW for WCW against Jerry Lawler and Buff Bagwell.

Stevie Ray and Booker T. and Stevie Ray Pro Wrestling Academy" was established in Houston, Texas, in 2005. Booker T was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in April 2013. "Reality of Wrestling" (Booker T's Promotion, Booker T's "The Final Heat" match, where they defeated the Heavenly Bodies for the ROW Tag Team Championship, on February 21, 2015, Booker T and Stevie Ray reunited as Harlem Heat for one last match at Booker T's promotion, where they defeated the Heavenly Bodies for the ROW Tag Team Championship. The titles were vacated on March 14. Ray won the WildKat Heavyweight Championship over Shane Taylor on May 16, 2015. On November 14, 2015, he returned to Taylor for the first time. Ray DLC was added to WWE 2K16 in 2015. Stevie Ray debuted a new weekly radio talk show, Straight Shooting with Stevie Ray, on KCOH radio 92.9 FM HD2 every Wednesday. He is also the host of the podcast Stand Up for Greatness. On August 12, 2017, Ray's last match was at Reality of Wrestling, co-owned by Abel Andrew Jackson after losing to Ernest Miller and Ryan Davidson.
