Early life

Christopher Maurice Brown was born in the small town of Tappahannock, Virginia, to Joyce Hawkins, a former day care center administrator, and Clinton Brown, a corrections officer at a local jail. Career

Brown was discovered at age 13 by Hitmission Records, a local production company that returned to his father's gas station while looking for new talent. Brown's voice coaching was provided by Hitmission, and the team helped to arrange a demo kit under the name of "C. Sizzle" and called contacts in New York, where Brown was stationed to seek a historic contract. Brown attended Essex High School in Virginia until late 2004, when he moved to New York to continue his music education. Tina Davis, senior A&R executive at Def Jam Recordings, was impressed when Brown auditioned in her New York office and immediately invited her to speak with Antonio "L.A." Despite being only on the charts for only three days, Heartbreak on a Full Moon debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200, becoming Brown's ninth straight top ten album on the chart. Brown became the first R&B male artist to win in a week after Usher's Confessions in 2004. One week after its debut Heartbreak on a Full Moon was named gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for combined sales and album-equivalent units of over 500,000 units in the United States, and the first R&B male artist to go gold. The Recording Industry Association of America has given the album a Double Platinum award in 2019 (RIAA).

On December 13, 2017, he released Cuffing Season – 12 Days of Christmas as a Christmas gift for his fans. The deluxe version is based on Brown's most popular leftovers of the album as well as a handful of holiday-themed songs. Brown unveiled the album in June 2018 and brought him right back to the United States for his "Heartbreak on a Full Moon Tour." The first acts on tour were 6lack, H.R., Rich the Kid, and Jacquees.

Brown Brown and rapper Joyner Lucas announced a joint venture called Angels & Demons on February 25, 2018 with the single "Stranger Things" releasing. However, the initiative was never announced. Brown was featured in Lil Dicky's smash hit single "Freaky Friday" on March 15, 2018. The video had over 100 million views and topped the charts in New Zealand and the United Kingdom by April 9, 2018.

Brown started processing work on his ninth album, Indigo, after laying out the concept for his new album on a full moon tour in August 2018. Brown's first single off it, "Undecided," was released on January 4, 2019, as well as a video for the song. Brown and producer Scott Storch, who previously worked with Brown on his breakout hit "Run It!" when Brown was undecided. Brown's first release after signing an extension and a new license contract with RCA Records that gave him the rights to owning of his master recordings, making him one of the youngest artists to do so at the age of 29. He released "Back to Love," his second single off the album, which received lauded reviews from music critics who lauded the album's lyrical content and production, but it failed to chart in the United States. A week after Nicki Minaj and G-Eazy performed, a week later, it was announced that the album would be released in June. On April 25, he appeared on "Light It Up" with Marshmello and Tyga. Brown revealed the list of artists he had been working with on his album, including Nicki Minaj, Tory Lanez, Tyga, Justin Bieber, Juicy J, Juicy J, Juicy J, Juicy J, Juicy J, Juicy J, Juvenile, H.E.R. Indigo's second album to be published in this style was eventually released on June 28, 2019. The disc is a R&B and tropical-pop collection about vibrations, spiritual love, and sex, which leaves Heartbreak on a Full Moon's introspective, shadowy, and sultry mood for a more uplifting sound and tone. Brown performed the album through the United States on June 10, 2019, titled "Indigoat Tour." The tour began on August 20 and concluded on October 19. Journalists, who praised the tour's stage conditions, and Brown's dancing abilities all praised the tour. In its 37 shows, "Indigoat Tour" grossed over $30,100,000, with a majority of the venues selling out the majority of the seats. Brown ranked third in the Billboard top R&B/Hip-Hop artists of the decade for the 2010s, behind Rihanna and Drake in second and 1st respectively, respectively.

Brown revealed in December 2019 that he was still working on new material for his tenth studio album. Brown also announced the debut of a joint mixtape with Young Thug, Slime & B. The mixtape was announced on May 5, 2020, and it includes the hit single "Go Crazy," which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, and Brown's first song to spend one full year on the chart. "Go Crazy" broke the record for the longest running No. 1 in April 2021. R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay 1 song on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, a record that was previously held by Brown's 2019 hit single "No Guidance." Brown was featured on Drake's Dark Lane Demo Tapes' "Not You Too" on May 1, 2020. Brown's career debut on the US Billboard Hot 100 was his 100th appearance on the program as it debuted at number one and debuted at number 25.

Brown revealed on Instagram on July 9, 2020, that the name of his tenth album would be Breezy, a nodation to his stage name. There has been no update date as of this writing. Brown revealed in July 2021, when on the album, that he wanted to produce some "endearing music" that "talk to women's souls." On August 2, 2021, he revealed on Instagram that his Breezy album would be followed by a short film of the same name. Breezy's lead single was announced on December 18, 2021, and he later said that it would be released in January 2022. He released the single "Iffy," which peaked to the top of the Rhythmic Radio Chart on January 14, 2022, on January 14, 2022. "Iffy" ended up not being included on the album. Brown posted a snippet of a second single named "Warm Embrace" on his Instagram page on March 15, 2022, with the tag "Is this the BREEZY you've been waiting for?" The album has a more traditional R&B sound and is expected to be released on April 1. Brown took to Instagram on March 16, 2022, to hint at a new joint tour for Summer 2022, with a mystery co-headliner that will coincide with the album's rollout. Brown's second single "WE (Warm Embrace)" on all streaming platforms was announced on April 1, 2022. Brown returns to R&B roots as he samples Guy's "Let's Chill" in Guy's '90s hit "Let's Chill." Brown revealed on April 26, 2022, that rapper Lil Baby would be the mystery co-headliner for his summer tour. The tour is scheduled to begin in North America on July 15 and will include 27 stops. Brown appeared at Drai's After Hours Nightclub in Las Vegas on June 11, 2022, marking the commencement of his new multi-year stay at the venue.

Brown's "Call Me Every Day" album, one week before the album's debut, was released on June 17, 2022. DJ Tunez, Blaise Beatz, and Leon Youngblood co-produced the album. Brown released a music video for the single "We (Warm Embrace)" on June 21, 2022. The video featured a guest appearance and dance sequence with fellow R&B artist Normani, as well as a sneak peek at the album's title "Sleep at Night." Brown released a music video for "C.A.B." on June 24, 2022. Fivio Foreigner, rapper Catch A Body (Catch A Body)" featuring rapper Fivio Foreigner. Brown's single "Call Me Every Day" starring Wizkid appeared on August 24, 2022. A woman appears in the video, Child's Child is taking a bath before she starts daydreaming about Brown and Wizkid. She's then whisked to an African village, where the Virginia native joins up with the Nigerian megastar to celebrate Black beauty. The video also shows interactions with Brown and his backup dancer Taylor Terry, as well as the singer grooving with his long-serving backup dancers. He renewed his acquaintance with American Idol champion Jordin Sparks for a nostalgic performance of their duet "No Air" nearly 15 years after it was announced. Brown was named international artiste of the year at the 15th annual Headies awards on September 4, 2022. The category is aimed at emerging African artists or groups with outstanding Afrobeats and influence. Brown became the first R&B artist to have over fifty top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in September 2022, with the official launch of "Under the Influence."
