Brett DiBiase Life

Brett DiBiase (born March 16, 1988) is an American retired professional wrestler and professional wrestling referee.

He is best known for his time in Florida Championship Wrestling, WWE's independency.

Joe Hennig, a former Florida Tag Team champion, is the third generation professional wrestler.

Helen Hild and her adoptive grandfather Mike DiBiase were professional wrestlers, as had his father, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase.

Mike and Ted Jr., DiBiase's older brothers, are also professional wrestlers.

Personal life

DiBiase is a third-generation wrestler. Mike DiBiase and his grandfather, Helen Hild, were professional wrestlers, as was his father Ted DiBiase. Mike's older half brother, Mike, and his older full brother, Ted Jr., are both professional wrestlers. DiBiase and his brother Ted Jr. were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 27, 2010. In June 2009, DiBiase married Leah May, his high school sweetheart.

The State Auditors Office of Mississippi arrested DiBiase in connection with a multimillion-dollar embezzlement campaign on February 5, 2020. A number of offences related to theft and embezzlement were found in the indictments. He pleaded guilty to one count of making a false statement for which he was fined $48,000 on December 17.

The Mississippi Department of Human Services sued DiBiase, his father and brother, retired NFL quarterback Brett Favre, and several others to recover more than $20 million in funds "squandered" from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families' anti-poverty scheme in May 2022.

Brett DiBiase Career

Professional wrestling career

In mid-2008, DiBiase made his debut for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)'s geographic region, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), in the United States. DiBiase defeated Sheamus O'Shaunessy on August 19, but Stu Sanders the following week. He continued wrestling in FCW through the year, battling wrestlers including Gavin Spears, Dolph Ziggler, and Sinn Bowdee.

DiBiase competed sparingly for FCW in early 2009, but he joined Maverick Darsow, a multi-generation wrestler, in February. He competed in both tag team and singles matches, as well as defeating Byron Saxton in late March. On May 17, 2009, DiBiase made his FCW television debut defeating Dylan Klein in a fight. A few weeks after, DiBiase was ranked as the top-one contender for the FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship, but was disqualified. DiBiase lost to Klein on June 7 of FCW's Sunday night, kicking off a scripted feud between the two teams. They competed against each other on several occasions throughout June, July, and August.

DiBiase performed as a planted fan in the audience during WWE's SummerSlam pay-per-view in August 2009, interrupting Randy Orton's WWE Championship match against John Cena. Orton, Cody Rhodes, and his older brother Ted made their debut on Raw on August 24, appearing in backstage segments with The Legacy family.

After his appearance on Raw, he rejoined FCW, where he formed The Fortunate Sons, alongside Joe Hennig. The Fortunate Sons defeated The Dudebusters in the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship on January 14, 2010 at an FCW television taping (Caylen Croft, Trent Bart, Curt Hawkins). The Fortunate Sons lost their titles to The Uso Brothers (Jimmy and Jules) on March 13. Hennig blamed DiBiase for the loss on April 8, and the two teams defeated him in a match that ended in a double disqualification. DiBiase faced Hennig again in an FCW match on April 29, but the latter sustained a knee injury during the match. On May 18, he underwent surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament tear. DiBiase joined the FCW's television team during his recovery period.

DiBiase had to begin training as a referee due to continuing knee problems. DiBiase's father announced on August 22 that after four surgeries, he had to withdraw from professional wrestling due to ongoing knee pain. DiBiase was set to be released from his service at the end of the month, according to his father. Since being banned from WWE, Brett wrestled for Pro Wrestling EGO, a Mississippi-based team, where he clashed with Jay Andrews.
