Ché Wolton Grant, also known as AJ Tracey, is a British rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer.

He hails from Ladbroke Grove, West London, and he is a member of the Ladbroke Grove club.

Tracey's first mainstream EP, Secure the Bag, rose to fame in 2016 and was included in The Guardian's list of "best new acts to watch at festivals in 2016." The UK Albums Chart ranked no. 13 in 2017.

Tracey released "Butterflies" starring British singer Not3s, which was his commercial breakthrough and debuted in the top 20 on the UK Singles Chart in 2018.

His self-titled debut album, which was released informally on 2019, landed at number three on the UK Albums Chart and featured his highest-charting single "Ladbroke Grove," which debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number three on the UK Singles Chart.

Early life

Grant was born in Brixton and raised in Ladbroke Grove, West London,. Grant's father, who is of Afro-Trinidadian origins, is a former musician, and his Welsh mother, Amber, is a former jungle DJ. He was named by his mother after the revolutionary Che Guevara.

Since the age of six, he has been rapping. He was educated locally at Middle Row Primary School and then moved to Holland Park School. To pursue his musical career, he dropped out of a criminal justice course at London Metropolitan University. He is an avid follower of Tottenham Hotspur.

Tracey's music can be found online dating back to June 2011. Looney Tell 'Em, an early SoundCloud account, has eleven songs available, with each of them allowing free downloads. Four songs from Spooky and Rude Kid's scratched out exclusive beats and two songs from Didn't Make the Cut, which were originally scheduled for release on the scrapped hip hop mixtape Fuck a Fairytale. Didn't Make the Cut, his debut mixtape, was released on September 13th, 2012, and it features 21 UK rap and grime songs and freestyles, which, in his own words, are "the songs that didn't make it into my real mixtape." Scirocco Musik was supposed to be the project's name, and its artwork now reflects this. My Team Paid, his crew's name, announced in August 2013 that they were going to debut My Team Paid, a joint mixtape. One single project, "Clouded Skies," was launched, but it was ultimately scrapped. No More Looney, Tracey's second mixtape, was released by DatPiff on August 30, 2014. Big Zuu, Jay Amo, Wax, and Sketch are among the thirty-three tracks on the album, many of which feature fellow My Team Paid members Big Zuu, Jay Amo, Wax, and Sketch.

Tracey's debut on pirate radio stations and the unveiling of his debut EP The Front in mid-2015 attracted the most attention at first. Tracey released his second EP Alex Moran in December 2015, which included hits such as "Spirit Bomb" and "Naila." Sian Anderson, a BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ, also appeared on "Swerve and Skid" during her show in 2015, the first song of his debut on commercial radio. Tracey also recorded (but did not announce) a trap EP titled Rain during this time. Tracey, a Tottenham Hotspur supporter, appeared in promotional material for BT Sport's coverage of the Premier League in 2016. He collaborated with Dave on a remix of Ruff Sqwad's Pied Piper's Pied Piper to produce "Thiago Silva," a well-received song.

Secure the Bag, Tracey's fifth EP, was released in October 2017. That year, he began releasing records. He made his debut on "LA4AWEEK," co-produced by Nyge and released in April 2017, and "Tell Man Twice," a Big Zuu label-mate, was released in August 2017.

AJ Tracey modelled for the OVO clothing line in 2018. Tracey debuted Not3s' single "Butterflies" in May 2018. The album became AJ Tracey's commercial breakthrough, peaking at number 19 on the UK Singles Chart. The single was followed by "Lo(v/s)er," which peaked at number 38, which was followed by "Lo(v/s)er." Tracey appeared on Craig David's album "The Time Has Come" and is now teaming up on the track "Somebody like me." Z.E., a Swedish rapper, released his second album, Mer än rap ("more than rap" in early July 2019. On the title track "More Than Rap," Tracey was featured.

Tracey's self-titled debut album, which was released on October 21, 2018, was pre-ordered. On the same day, the lead single, "Doing It," was released on streaming and digital. "Underflies" starring Not3s, "Psych Out!" was released with four more singles to promote AJ Tracey. "Necklace" starring Jay Critch and "Ladbroke Grove" is included in "Necklace." AJ Tracey debuted on the UK Albums Chart and is rated Silver by the British Phonographic Institute (BPI). On the UK Singles Chart, "Ladbroke Grove" became Tracey's highest-charging single, peaking at number three. Tracey announced on October 10, 2019, that a deluxe version of AJ Tracey would be released. AJ Tracey's newest songs and a few surprises were included in the upcoming edition. The album was released on October 25th. AJ Tracey announced his Australian tour on February 24, 2020, but it was later postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Secure the Bag, AJ Tracey's sixth EP, appeared on October 6, 2020. On Twitter, 2 was announced and then launched on November 27, 2020. The EP debuted on the UK Albums Charts at number 75.

Tracey appeared on Digga D's album "Bringing It Back" on February 4th, 2021. The song debuted at number 5 on the UK Charts Official Trending Chart and debuted at number 5 on the UK Singles Chart on February 4th, 2021.

Tracey's second studio album titled Flu Game, as well as the album's tracklist, were announced on March 22, 2021, which was announced on YouTube. "Dinner Guest," "West Ten," "Anxious," and "Bringing It Back" are among the album's tracks. AJ performed "Little More Love" on the album's five-hour premiere, as well as a releasing a YouTube music video.

Tracey was featured on the Gorillaz track "Jimmy Jimmy" from their Meanwhile EP on August 26, 2021.
