Terry Sanchez Wallace Jr. (born March 23, 1994), also known as Tee Grizzley, is an American rapper, guitarist, and songwriter from Detroit, Michigan.

"First Day Out," "No Effort," "Colors," and "From the D to the A" is his best known singles. Grizzley's debut single "First Day Out" on YouTube, after being released from jail in October 2016.

The song attracted over two million viewers in less than three weeks, culminating in Grizzley's signing of a record deal with 300 Entertainment and Atlantic Records in 2017.

Grizzley's debut album Activated on May 11, 2018, which debuted numerous mixtapes and singles during 2017, peaking at number 10 on the Billboard 200.

Early life

Wallace was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 23, 1994, and his grandmother in the Joy Rd raised him. Due to his mother and father being in and out of jail every day, he was in and out of jail in the Southfield neighborhood. He began to enjoy rap music in middle school and formed All Stars Ball Hard, along with three of his classmates, JR, Po, and Lee. Wallace took the moniker ASBH Tee, and they started posting their songs on YouTube. In 2011, his mother was sentenced to 20 years in jail for heroin trafficking, but she was released in late 2020. In 2012, his father was murdered.

Wallace was the first member of his family to attend college in generations. He studied finance and accounting at Michigan State University. He and a friend of his began to burgle other students' dormitories after being in debt. In February 2014, they stole $20,000 worth of electronics and money from other students. Wallace and Jeremy Ford were arrested on February 27, but they were later released as a result of a pending probe.

Wallace went on the run and escaped to Kentucky. Wallace was one of three people arrested after an attempted robbery at a jewelry store in Lexington, Kentucky, on July 1, 2014. Wallace was sentenced to nine months in prison for the robbery in September 2015, while still serving his sentence. He was released from jail in Michigan on October 16, 2016.

When in jail, Wallace began to take rapping seriously and wrote the entirety of his debut mixtape while imprisoned. Tee Grizzley, who took the name Tee Grizzley, released his first single "First Day Out" in November 2016. In less than three weeks, the music video, which was posted on YouTube, has received over 2 million views in less than three weeks. In 2017, he signed to 300 Entertainment & Atlantic Records. In February 2017, he unveiled his second single, "Second Day Out." Lil Yachty's third album "From the D to the A" was released in March 2017.

On March 31, 2017, he unveiled "No Effort" and its accompanying music video. My Moment, his debut mixtape, was published on April 7, 2017. After his song was featured in a LeBron James Instagram post, Grizzley said that his record sales tripled. On July 28, 2017, Grizzley's song "Teetroit" was released. On September 1, 2017, Meek Mill's single "Beef" was released. For My Moment, he received two 2017 BET Hip Hop Award nominations for Best New Hip-Hop Artist and Best Mixtape.

On October 6, 2017, he released the song "Win." "What Ya City Like" with rapper Lil Durk was the lead single for Bloodas on November 30, 2017. On December 8, 2017, the two bands released their joint mixtape Bloodas. On February 2, 2018, he announced the single "Colors" on February 2, 2018. On March 14, 2018, Moneybagg Yo's single "Don't Even Trip" was released.

Grizzley performed in Lil Yachty's latest album Lil Boat 2's song "Get Money Bros" on March 9, 2018. On May 11, 2018, his debut studio album, Activated, was released. He received a 2018 MTV Video Music Award nomination for Push Artist of the Year in August. On November 9, 2018, he released Still My Moments, a mixtape. He released the single "Locked Up" in May 2019.

His car was shot in Detroit, Michigan, on August 20, 2019. Jobina Brown, his uncle/manager, was killed in the shooting when she was 41 years old. The driver and the passenger survived the crash unharmed. Grizzley released his single "Satish" on September 20, 2019, as well as a music video to celebrate Brown's death.

Tee Grizzley unveiled the mixtape Half Bear and a video for the song "Robbery Part 3" on April 15, 2022. The mixtape's name: "I"m human like everybody else, but also the things I've been through and had to endure made me a monster."
