Wrabel Life

Stephen Wrabel (born January 7, 1989), better known by his stage name Wrabel, is an American musician, singer, and songwriter based in Los Angeles.

Personal life

Wrabel is openly gay. As a member of this group, he is invested in promoting LGBTQ+ rights. "11 Blocks" is an autobiographical story about his first love, who had lived 11 blocks away from him in California. The music video shows a lot of sadness and loneliness in a marriage, directed by Isaac Rentz, while actor Wrabel is fighting for his life.

The music video for Dano Cerny's 2017 album "The Village" depicts a trans teenager struggling with gender dysphoria, using a binder to flatten his chest, and interacting with hostile family members, with the lyrics addressing the same topics. The video begins with a sentence "In nature, a flock will attack any bird that is more colorful than others because being different is seen as a threat" and "#TransRightsAreHumanRights." In an interview with Billboard about the album and video, he said it was "the most important thing to me that I've ever done and likely will never do." It's the nearest thing to my heart." He wrote the song in February 2017, shortly after Donald Trump banned federal funding for trans students in public education, and begged for his immediate release of the video after Trump announced a ban on trans military service, with the video referring to Trump's ban.

Wrabel Career

Life and career

Wrabel attended The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas, where he was an honor student. He attended Berklee College of Music for a semester before heading to Los Angeles to concentrate on songwriting after high school. As a songwriter, he got his first big break when he was signed to Pulse Recording as a songwriter.

In 2010, Wrabel produced the theme tune for the NBC game show "Get It," produced by Eve Nelson.

In 2012, Wrabel was signed by Island Def Jam Music Group chairman and CEO Barry Weiss and Executive Vice President/Head of A&R Karen Kwak.

Afrojack, a Dutch DJ, released a version of Wrabel's "Ten Feet Tall," which resulted in an international hit. During Super Bowl XLVIII in a Bud Light commercial, the song premiered in the United States, and was watched by around 100 million viewers. On May 19, 2014, Wrabel unveiled the original piano-based version of the song. BuzzFeed named "Ten Feet Tall" by Afrojack as one of the "35 Greatest Pop Songs You May Have Missed This Summer."

Wrabel released his single "11 Blocks," which was heavily supported and promoted by Kesha on June 24, 2016. The song's lyric video as well as a music video were also released. On March 10, 2017, he unveiled his second single, "Bloodstain." The song's lyric video was released the same day. He released an EP titled We Could Be Beautiful in May 2017. In July 2017, he released The Village, a song dedicated to showing his love for transgender people. The video shows a young trans boy living with his closed-minded family, while the lyrics discuss the challenges of being transgender and a member of the LGBT community. "#trans_rights_are_human_rights" concludes the video. Since the removal of federal guarantees for trans students in public schools, the song was written in February 2017, and it was quickly posted after Donald Trump tweeted against outlawing transgender people from the military.
