Music career
Beckham auditioned for a television commercial in March 1994 that called for girls who were "street smart, extrovert[ed], aspiration, and able to sing and dance." Beckham joined the Spice Girls, an all-female group in 1994. Victoria Adams is credited with her maiden name in the recordings before her marriage. The group's first single, "Wannabe" (1996), debuted in the United Kingdom and United States, as well as other 35 countries. It was followed by eight more number one singles from their albums Spice, Spiceworld, and Forever. Each member of the organization was given a name by the media, and Beckham was called "Posh Spice." The corporation is the most well-selling female group of all time, with over 80 million records worldwide. The Spice Girls stopped recording after the debut of their third album, Forever, which peaked at number two in the United Kingdom but was far less popular than their previous two albums, and instead focused on their solo careers in the foreseeable future.
Beckham's first solo single, "Out of Your Mind," was released on August 14, 2000 in joint work with Dane Bowers and Truesteppers. The week of its debut coincided with the release of "If This Ain't Love) by Spiller, starring Sophie Ellis-Bextor, resulting in a chart contest dubbed 'Posh vs. Posher,' by the tabloids. Beckham performed her public solo debut at Hyde Park in London on July 8, 2000, a fundraising effort for the Prince's Trust charity, which was well-spent. She performed "Out of Your Mind" to a huge audience. Beckham's group, Virgin Records, has since signed a recording contract. "Not Such An Innocent Girl," her next single as a solo artist, was published on September 17, 2001. She faced opposition in another hugely fought chart battle, this time with Kylie Minogue's album "Can't Get You Out of My Head." Despite a massive advertising campaign, Beckham defeated eight to one, and her single debuted at number six. Beckham's eponymous debut album, which was released on October 1, 2001, ranked No. 10 in the UK album chart. The album cost a whopping £5 million to produce, but it sold just 50,000 copies.
On February 11, 2002, "A Mind of Its Own" was the second and final song to be released from the album. The single debuted at number 6 in the United Kingdom and sold 56,500 copies. Beckham was soon to be suspended by her name for not charting in the Top Three, according to rumors. At the time, these were largely denied. "You know what newspapers look like, they just like to put all the bad stuff in," Beckham said, although I'm worried and the record company is concerned that it is all wonderful." "I Wish" was a third single, but no one appeared on stage, but no one appeared. Robbie Craig's remix was the single version on Friday Night's All Wright, and it was broadcast live on television. Following Beckham's second pregnancy, the single was shelved. Beckham was reportedly dropped by Virgin Records, as well as Emma Bunton and Melanie B; but her publicist denied news, saying: "No one has been dropped." The Virgin agreement has come to an end, and both sides have agreed not to proceed."
Beckham signed a £1.5 million contract with Telstar Records and 19 Management in 2002. She began recording "Let Your Head Go" as her first single in 2003 and made it into an electropop-influenced album, Open Your Eyes. Beckham was dissatisfied with the album's outcome and decided to return to the studio to record new material. She wanted a more urban sound and collaborated with producer Damon Dash on his latest R&B and hip hop inspired album Come Together. "Because I see how much she gets photographed over here," Dash said when first asked why he recorded with Beckham. M.O.P.'s "It's That Simple" is a Dash-produced song. In July 2003, a promotional single was first introduced on radio stations, prompting mixed feedback. Following heavy publicity and numerous TV appearances around the holiday season, Beckham's first single with Telstar, "Let Your Head Go" / "This Groove," was released in the United Kingdom on December 29, 2003. The video was produced by Andy Hylton. The single ranked at number three in the United Kingdom.
The double A-side was a thermometer to Beckham – if "Let Your Head Go" was more popular, she might have released the electropop-inspired album Open Your Eyes, but if "This Groove" was better rated, she would have released the R&B album Come Together. Damon Dash had hopes for her in the United States, including the potential debut of "This Groove" and felt that Beckham would be well-received because R&B was the best in the world and her music style was similar to Jennifer Lopez. Any album's release was delayed due to the company's financial difficulties, as well as a rumoured fall-out between Dash and Fuller and UK media massacring Beckham's solo career. The unveiling of a new single, "My Love Is for Real," was Beckham's last attempt at a solo career. Buttelstar declared bankruptcy in April 2004, and Beckham resisted on music to concentrate on her fashion career.
The Spice Girls reformed and announced plans to embark on a reunion tour in 2007, despite the fact that they were estimated to have earned £10 million per person (approximately $20 million). Beckham had previously stated that she and her former Spice coworkers were enjoying their solo careers in a variety of occupations, saying, "We're still doing our own thing." Their Most Hits album was released in early November 2007, and the tour opened on December 2nd 2007. "I wanted my children to know that Mummy was a pop star," Beckham said at the time. It was their last opportunity for them to stand in front of a crowd of screaming for the Spice Girls." When Beckham's hair was dyed brown for the tour, she said that her sons replied right away with a remark: "Oh my goodness, it's Posh Spice." She's back. She was the only member of the band not to perform a solo song on the tour, instead posing in the style of a fashion show on a makeshift catwalk, while the others all had a variety of solo shows in their respective careers.
After being first broadcast on Fox8 in Australia, film-maker Bob Smeaton created a formal film titled Spice Girls: Giving You Everything. On December 31, 2007, BBC One was also broadcast in the United Kingdom. The Spice Girls were contracted to appear in Tesco advertisements, for which they were paid £1 million each, as well as their sell-out tour.
According to reports, the Spice Girls would appear in a reality show in which female actors would perform their roles in a musical. Judy Craymer joined the Spice Girls and Simon Fuller in the beginning of Viva Forever, a Spice Girls musical. All five Spice Girls were on hand at a press conference in London on June 26, 2012, to celebrate the launch of Viva Forever. On December 11, 2012, the musical appeared at the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End. Beckham and the Spice Girls performed a medley of "Wannabe" and "Spice Up Your Life" at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony on August 12, 2012, after much rumors, reuniting solely for the event. With over 116,000 tweets per minute on Twitter, their appearance was the most tweeted moment of the Olympics closing ceremony.
Beckham reunited with the band for a 2019 tour, but the band postponed participation in the reunion in favour of focusing on her fashion brand instead. Ellen DeGeneres, an American television presenter, told her why she didn't register with the other Spice Girls for the reunion tour, she said, "It just didn't feel like the right thing to do." [But] I'll always be Posh Spice, as they say.
