Sully Erna Life

Salvatore Paul "Sully" Erna Jr. (born February 7, 1968) is the American singer and rhythm guitarist for the American heavy metal band Godsmack.

He has performed on albums and live shows as a harmonica player, percussionist, and pianist.

By Hit Parader, he was ranked 47th in the Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists.

Early life

Sully Erna was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts. At the age of three, he started playing drums. Salvatore Erna Sr., his father, was a trumpet player from Sicily, and Sully would rehearse in the basement, where Sully would watch. In Sicily, his great-uncle was a well-known composer. Erna discovered that it was easier for him to listen to something and play it than reading sheet music at the age of 11. He stopped taking lessons and trained at home, rehearsing to records set by Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Motörhead, and Rush.

Personal life

Erna has one daughter, Skylar

Erna was a wiccan who started his life as a student. "Spiral" from Godsmack's second album "Awake" and "Releasing the Demons" from their third album Faceless, inspired by his spirituality. He has, however, stated openly that he did not want to be the poster boy for witchcraft." He has also stated that he does not follow any particular faith; instead, he says, "I'm just a spiritual being; I believe in karma and stuff like that." "Religion is an ugly word to me."

Erna was involved in a three-car chain reaction accident in Methuen, Massachusetts, when his car and two others collided at an intersection. "He's really worried about the girl who was injured in this tragic crash," Erna's boss Paul Geary said in reference to Lindsay Taylor, a 25-year-old Chelmsford resident. According to the Boston Herald, "mostly's grateful that he survived with a split lip and some aches and pains, but he's worried about the child."

Taylor was riding in the back seat of a grey blue Toyota Camry that collided with the H3 engine driven by Erna. Around 7 p.m. on the ramp leading from Interstate 93 south to Route 213, the crash occurred on a cloudy night.

Taylor was in a coma following the accident and sustained a severe, traumatic brain injury. She suffered long-term damage, and she would later sue. In 2010, a deal was reached.

Sully Erna Career

Musical career

Dave Vose, Erna's new instructor, took over at 14 years old. Strip Mind, a 1993 rock band, signed him to his first album contract. They released fewer than 50,000 copies of their debut album What's in Your Mouth. Some of the band members (mainly the singer) and Erna didn't get along, and Erna was booted out, and Erna was booted out. They broke up about a year later.

Erna plays the bongos and a large drum set, staging a drumming duel with drummer Shannon Larkin in Godsmack concerts. This confrontation has become a staple of the band's live show. He appears on the Godsmack song "Shine Down" as a harmonica performer.

Erna's first solo album Avalon debuted in 2010. The album took seven years to produce and differed stylistically from Godsmack. On June 28, Erna concluded his acoustic tour with one last show at The House of Blues in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Erna has also worked with his local band scene. He competed in the Battle of the Bands Competition in New Hampshire in April 2005. At Erna's California studio, the winner (a band called Zion who hails from Salem) had the opportunity to record a demo.

Erna told Glam-Metal.com that his first solo shows were "highly nerve-wracking," adding, "I was really, really nervous about it." I haven't been this anxious since I was, I don't know, ten years old at a talent show or something." On May 1 in Niagara Falls, New York, Erna launched his first solo acoustic tour on May 1 and closed it down on May 31 in Las Vegas. The shows have combined Godsmack songs with a handful of new originals and covers ranging from the Beatles to Alice in Chains to the theme of Love Story.

Erna said, "I wanted to stick a couple of originals in and try them out because there were a few songs that I wrote on the piano or the guitar that I didn't like on a GODSMACK record." "Eyes of a Child" and 'Until then' are two popular cartoons." It was a great opportunity to showcase that and see if I could really hit home with those two pieces. Those songs are the evening's most moving pieces. One song is about children born or dying from AIDS, and the other is about the United States Armed Forces.

Erna told The Pulse of Radio that performing new music live would be a good way for him to try out songs that may not be suitable for Godsmack. "We're all musicians, and we like to write music rather than necessarily rock all the time," he said. "Well, if I sit down and write on the piano, and occasionally just cool songs are written that don't necessarily fit with Godsmack, but you don't want to ignore them."

Erna announced at the time that he intended to work on his first solo album.

Erna had completed work on his first solo album, Avalon, which was released on September 14, 2010. Nonetheless, the single Sinner's Prayer will be on radio stations and in stores everywhere on August 3, 2010. Erna characterized the album as "a very different kind of sounding album" and that it was "a major departure from anything I've ever done." Lisa Guyer on vocals, Tim Theriault on guitars and vocals, Chris Decato on keyboards, midi, and vocals, Irina Chirkova of Bulgaria on Cello, Niall Gregory of Ireland Dead Can Dance on drums and percussion, and percussionist David Stephanelli on drums and percussion appear on the album.

Rockerrazzi.com published an interview with Erna three days later, where he said that the album "should be out in the next two months." Erna said "it's very diverse" and "tribal" on the album's sound, with "a lot of hand drumming" and "beautiful piano compositions" on the album's music. He also stated that he "worked with a percussion session for Dead Can Dance" and that the album would feature Lisa Guyer, who had performed backing vocals on Godsmack's previous album's "Hollow" track.

Erna's debut solo album, Avalon, was released on September 14, 2010. In the fall of 2012, Avalon Live: He launched a live DVD.

On December 16, 2011, Erna launched a limited-edition Avalon box set in November as well as a DVD of the Erna's debut solo album, Avalon. The series includes the double-disc Avalon Live, The Making of Avalon's 40-minute documentary, The Journey to Avalon, and a DVD of bloopers and outtakes. The box set also includes two CDs – the original Avalon album and the Avalon Live show recording. Two CDs, a book, T-shirt, guitar pick, poster, incense, etc. are among the collection's other items, as well as a custom metal Sully Erna engraved metal box with a suede lining. Only 5,000 copies were available. On December 18, 2012, a single disc standard and Blu-ray version of the show were released.

Erna said in an interview with HardDrive that he would release another solo album, but that information has yet to be revealed. Erna will debut his second solo album Hometown Life on September 30, 2016. The album has since been released. "Turn It Up" is a song on Hometown Life, for which Erna welcomed his father into the recording studio to play trumpet on the track. At a Sully Erna solo performance, his father performed the song live with Erna.
