Greg Puciato Life

Gregory John Puciato (born March 27, 1980) is best known as the lead singer of the disbanded The Dillinger Escape Plan and now plays as the lead singer of The Black Queen and Killer Be Killed.

He is known for his impulsive live performances, a wide vocal range, outspoken views, and controversies arising from his bands' performances and interviews. Revolver Puciato's December 2007 issue was named one of the "37 best metal frontmen" of all time.

He was ranked number one by MetalSucks in their list of "top 25 modern metal frontmen" in 2013.

Early life

Puciato was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He is the only child. His Belarusian ancestors immigrated from Slutsk to the United States. Puciato's parents owned several vinyl albums by artists including Elton John, Bee Gees, Prince, Black Sabbath, Mitch Miller, and Molly Hatchet, as well as an old victrola, and they bought him a tiny 7-inch record player. They listened to music all day, and Puciato's early memories include beating on things to drum along and singing along. Puciato admitted that he grew up in a poor, impoverished neighborhood, that "strongly] inspired him, in the sense that he does not "feel uncomfortable in any context," although the African-American culture of the area contributed to his fondness for R&B and hip-hop. Guns N' Roses was Puciato's first band as a youth. Around the age of nine, he saw Metallica's film for "One" ("the "darkest thing [he had seen]" and inspired him to learn Metallica songs on guitars. During this period, he describes his life as centered around thrash metal and Nintendo. Puciato went "through a tremendous musical evolution" in early 1990, broadening his taste to bands like Faith No More and Primus. When recalling the appearance of these or other artists such as Nine Inch Nails on television, he found it "inspiring" and said it "looked like the weirdos had invaded the system or created a new one." Puciato's older relatives sold tapes and they'd introduce him to underground music; when Puciato told one of his favorites bands, his uncle broke [his] mind] and showed him a 1980s Bad Brains live bootleg, which would be a long-serving reflection on the singer.

In 2013 he reflected:

Puciato's first cassette was released at thirteen, with his closest friend, who was a drummer, as a drummer. Puciato began writing abstract poetry as a teen, his first passion in parallel to songwriting. Puciato began singing for a thrash metal band at the age of fourteen. Although he started as a guitarist, he migrated to vocals because he was "too much of a control freak to allow someone else to sing" and he could not do both at the same time, but he continued writing the band's songs on guitar. After people began raving about his singing ability and Puciato discovered that it came more natural to him, he turned his attention to vocals.

Puciato attended a Catholic private school despite being raised in a non-practicing household. He was a good student and skipped grades, and graduated one month after he turned 17. He went to college in Maryland and took a break after a year of studying, during which he was offered the Dillinger Escape Plan.

Personal life, public image, and scandals have all been discussed.

Puciato came from Los Angeles, California, around 2009. He cited his inability with the American East Coast's cold weather as the primary reason.

Puciato is a voracious reader and has taken several online classes at California State University, Long Beach, including psychology, sociology, and economy. He writes poetry and prose "all the time" and has a slew of texts that have yet to be published. Andrew Parks, a writer for Self-titled, deemed "unfortune" that the singer's live appearance or public remarks diverted these aspects of his personality away from Puciato's public image, a point that was later repeated by the frontman.

The singer's athletic body has attracted the attention of journalists and followers. Puciato started working out at fifteen because it was a healthier hobby than music, and "because] it kept me out of a lot of pain [I mean, I don't really drink or do drugs or something like that.

So it's like what else do you do?"

Puciato said in a 2010 interview with ESPN that he had considered becoming a bodybuilder but decided against it due to his dissatisfaction with the job. He had drastically reduced his weightlifting sessions by 2018, and in turn, turned them into several types of aerobic exercises, which was preceded by a reassessment of his motivations behind training. He appeared to be in the best shape of his life last year.

Puciato has avoided revealing their personal and family relationships in order to protect their anonymity for the most part. It was reported in 2012 that he was romantically linked to former pornographic actress Jenna Haze. Following this news, the singer expressed skepticism but believed that it was "somewhat unnecessary" due to their public profiles at the time.

Puciato had a variety of experiences with psychedelic drugs from 2011 to 2013.

In 2013, the singer was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder and then treated it. Puciato was relieved to have finally identified it because, before then, he didn't know many of his personal characteristics, such as hyperfocus and a short-term memory deficit when doing music-related jobs, as well as a time perception error. He has dealt with anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, anxiety, depression, and other mental disorders as well. Puciato spoke about his inner struggles in a lengthy 2018 interview with Kerrang! with the intention of supporting people who are in similar situations.

From their homes on the northeast coast to their recording studio in California, Dillinger Escape Plan's Ire Works by the Dillinger Escape Plan's 2007, singer Liam Wilson is expected to break the world record for the Cannonball Run Challenge. Puciato's first shift was 20-two hours straight and received speeding tickets in three states worth hundreds of dollars. Puciato left his car there before returning to Baltimore and being arrested for failing to pay a fine was later discovered.

Puciato's death was faked by bandmates Ben Weinman and Liam Wilson when they announced on their Twitter pages that the singer had passed in his sleep on July 23, 2010. Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley debunked the myth "If Greg Puciato is dead, then his body played a good set on mainstage today."

After ingesting hallucinogenic mushrooms mixed with other substances in January 2012, the singer emerged with the help of emergency personnel after ingesting "something in between a near-death experience and a near-out-of-body experience."

All of Puciato's possessions were stolen early in 2015 as he was moving to a new location.

Puciato is known for his outspokenness in addition to his musical and stage appearances. Many of his remarks on social media and interviews became news.

Puciato has a greater affinity for punk and hardcore's democratic leanings than those of heavy metal. He has been critical of both organized religion and mainstream politics, as well as the ties between the two countries, and has consistently supported LGBT rights, including a shirt promoting LGBT rights with the Dillinger Escape Plan, as well as debuting a video from the Black King on Out's magazine website.

Puciato said in 2018 that he has a "really bad gag reflex" for artists who aren't authentic with their followers or who sacrifice themselves to profit. He does not see the relationship between artists and fans as hierarchical, and in 2016 said, "I mainly feel acutely aware of wanting to connect with people [through art], not a thing or a product, and never treat others as inferior because they are drawn to you." Puciato was outspoken on his views about other musicians, including Puddle of Muddd, Fall Out Boy, and Jared Leto of Thirty Seconds to Mars, referring to the latter's conversion from actor to rock star as a "revolting shtick" during his time with the latter. His diatribes against Leto and Fall Out Boy came after he learned that they would headline festivals in which Slayer and the Melvins, as well as Judas Priest, respectively, would appear, referring to the situation as "disgraceful."

Several insults and taunts were exchanged between the members of the Dillinger Escape Plan and Avenged Sevenfold in 2006; the Dillinger Web exploded with many insults and taunts, including G. Piranha (Ben Weinman), Bullwhip Benoit), Kevin Wilson (Chris Pennie), and Leafeater Wilson (Liam Wilson). Following the 2003 Take Action Tour, where Avenged Sevenfold endorsed the Dillinger Escape Plan, and his followers took in meals from Dillinger's catering table without asking or introducing themselves, according to Puciato.

Puciato's "favorite instrumental metal band ever" named Animals as Leaders in 2010. [Their style is] modernizing.] Normally, virtuosity and boredom go hand in hand, but this is a wonderful marriage of soul-feeling and highly adroit guitar playing." He approached the band shortly after learning about them, and the band suggested that they do a joint tour with Dillinger, which happened in March of this year. Prurient has been dubbed "one of the few people I've encountered who feel like true kindred spirits" and has expressed "unique respect" for Converge and their "artistic integrity." He also praised The Incomprehensible Dreamless, Discordance Axis', "my new grindcore album of all time," and the 1980s Janet Jackson albums' production work.

Puciato said in a 2013 interview that he does not "have a filter" on his opinions, live performances, and songs' lyrics, and that "was a plus." He claims that this caused his social media pages to become a "distraction" and distorted their original intention, which was to have a closer relationship with his followers. They all died in late 2012, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. He returned to Instagram in 2021, creating a page with over 900 posts dating back to 2015.

Greg Puciato Career

Career

Puciato performed with the Dillinger Escape Plan in September 2001 and the group debuted at the CMJ music festival a week later in October 2001. Puciato had already performed in various bands around Baltimore, Washington, but at the time, he preferred to improve his vocal style rather than commit full time to a band, and waited for the "right time" to do so. Puciato began as a fan of the Dillinger Escape Plan in their younger days, mirroring that of young Henry Rollins and Black Flag. When the band split with their singer Dimitri Minakakis (due to him's decision to concentrate more on his graphic design work and personal life), they sought for a new singer by releasing the instrumental version of the song "43% Burnt" (offset of their debut album). Puciato appeared on tape with one version of him imitating Dimitri Minakakis and another with his own interpretation of the song. He was contacted shortly after by the band, who had auditioned in person, and was subsequently asked to participate. Coincidentally, Puciato's first appearance with the band was for a Black Flag tribute album, where they covered "Damaged I and II." Puciato said in a 2003 interview that the band had devoted themselves to "mean everything to" him. Puciato recalled when talking about his entrance to the band in 2013: Puciato recalled:

Puciato was on every subsequent launch.

He told Metal Hammer magazine that the previously announced Dillinger "hiatus" was really a "break" and detailed the artistic justification for doing so in August 2016.

Puciato was also involved in Spylacopa, a Candiria guitarist John LaMacchia's experimental musical project (along with Julie Christmas of Made Out of Babies and Jeff Caxide of Isis). In 2008, Spylacopa released a self-titled EP, as well as some guitar and piano/programming written by Puciato. On the Dillinger Escape Plan's Option Paralysis album's Option Paralysis album, similar programming and piano playing would be included. "Chuck McChip" is the bonus track on the Dillinger Escape Plan's Option Paralysis album. Spylacopa is "dead as of right," Puciato declared in 2012.

Max Cavalera revealed that he and Puciato were working on a full length album, similar to Cavalera's Nailbomb project, in an interview with Swedish magazine Metalshrine. Dave Elitch, a former Mars Volta drummer, and Troy Sanders of Mastodon were among the band's members. The band recorded their self-titled debut album at Fortress Studio in Los Angeles in September 2013. Producer Josh Wilbur appeared on the band's debut album in September. It was published on May 13, 2014. On November 20, 2020, the second generation of Reluctant Heroes was announced, with Elitch having been displaced in Converge's interim years by Ben Koller.

In a Revolver Magazine interview, he revealed that he was playing in a new band with Josh Eustis and Nine Inch Nails/A Perfect Circle guitarist Steven Alexander, known as the Black Queen, with a title that had not anticipated at any time in 2014. In June 2015, the band released "The End Where We Begin" for their first album, as well as an explanation for the long wait. The debut album, Fever Daydream, debuted on January 29, 2016, debuting at number 2 on the Billboard Electronic chart, debuting at number two.

On June 15, 2018, the band announced that Infinite Games, a new album by the band's frequent visual collaborator and fine artist Jesse Draxler, would be released on September 28.

Puciato revealed the establishment of the record label and art collective Federal Prisoner, as well as the first appearance of the Black Queen's second album Infinite Games in June 2018. He and visual artist Jesse Draxler co-founded the name "as much an act of refusal as it is a statement of intention" by signing to an outside company, and that "everything I used to see as assistance, I immediately saw as unnecessary at best, and a liability at worst."

Puciato sees Federal Prisoner as a "infrastructure" to post content dear to them rather than a label that aims to "go out of nowhere to sign this really popular artist." Federal Prisoner started off completely from scratch, and its production has been freely released and funded in every way, including international distribution and music videos, without being aided by other corporations.

In Puciato's debut album, Fever Daydream, where Puciato went about creating every part of the album by themselves (i.e. He, his bandmates Alexander and Eustis, and Draxler (both musically and non-musically) were involved in record pressings, merchandise, and administration, etc. The Independent said that the company had "a wealth of challenges" because of the links between each member and established bands, but Puciato saw it as rewarding because "nothing [the album] touches [from the beginning to the end]. The singer was initially opposed to the use of a moniker but then changed his mind after discussing the logistics with Draxler.

Puciato premiered "Fire For Water" on BBC Radio 1, starring Dillinger original drummer Chris Pennie. He unveiled a music video for Revolver's album on Revolver the next day. Child Soldier: The Creator of God, the surprise single from his debut solo album, said the day would be released through Federal Prisoner. Puciato's second single "Deep Set" debuted on May 1, two years after its music video premiered on Consequence of Sound. Both 12-inch vinyls were limited to 250 copies and each sold out within hours, but digital versions are also available. More singles were released, culminating in Child Soldier: Creator of God, a 15-song multi-genre album that was released early due to a leak on October 9, 2020. "Fuck Content" was a live album/video release that came later this year, with five new songs and eleven live songs.

Puciato was supposed to perform on the Calculus of Evil album by experimental death metal band Psychotegen in 2003, but Misery Index's Mike Harris filled the role.

Puciato performed all of the vocals on Error's five-song, self-titled EP, which was released by former Nine Inch Nails member Atticus Ross and Epitaph Records owner/Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz in 2004. His position was mainly intended as temporary studio work as a result of the Dillinger Escape Plan's priorities, and the band never appeared in any concerts. Error is "dead as of now," Puciato said in 2012.

Puciato has performed on several tracks: "The Feast" by Genghis Tron (2008), "The Pledge" by A Static Lullaby (2008), "The Life of a Stranger" by Devin Townsend (2010), "Everybody Lives" by Mathell (2015), "The Truth" by Lamb of God (2015), "The Exit Wound" by Devin Townsend (2010), "Everybody Dies and Nothing Goes On" by Jesse Draxler "Everyone" by Puciato (Mo "The Feast" by Genghis" by Genghis" by A Static Lullaby "The Feast" by Architect" by Architect" by A Static Lullaby Architect" by Suicide Silence" by Architect" by Architects" by Sumise Silence (Me" by Aston ("Exit" by Jesse" by Architect" by A Static Silence" by Devin (2010), "Everyone" by Jesse Draxler (Mout) by Puciatoxer ("St") by Suicide Silence (2016), "Everybody" by Puccit" by Puce, "May Thuy Purita "Everybody" by Devin Thut" by Puy Pucaby Pucitest Thumaby A Static Lulla Thuy Puy Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thuy Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thu Thut Thu Thu Thu Thuy Sombra From A -Ky Fid" by A Tutti Architectst "Everybody" by Juvenit By Puciatien" by Devin Monst" by Architectst" by Jesse Draxler "From "The Frog "The Fay Thu Thuy Riggay Thut" by The Recognition Socrat" by Architectse Somut" by t" by Ay Bugnos On" by A Static Lullay Piaby (2006), "The Trance, "The Cave" by Puritat" by Pucitesmoe Butch "Everybody" by A Static Lullay Puccit" by A Static Lullay And "Exit" by Aston (2008), "The Fallen "The Exit" by A Static Lullay Puciato, "The People" by A. On occasion, he appeared with Soulfly and Devin Townsend to perform his parts. Puciato and Townsend's collaboration began in February 2011, after a fan tweeted it out.

On the 2009 Prong remix album Power of the Damn Mixxxer, he made a remix of the song "Bad Fall."

Puciato appeared in the Retox video "Let's Not Keep in Touch" in which he chases and kills Retox guitar player Michael Crain with a baseball bat before dumping him out of a van driven by frontman Justin Pearson. Puciato appeared in the Drab Majesty film "39 By Design" in December 2016.

During their 2009 Wave Goodbye Tour in North America and Australia (both with the Dillinger Escape Plan and solo, performing the songs "Wish" and "Mr. Self Destruct"), he and the Dillinger Escape Plan appeared on stage with Nine Inch Nails. He performed "Passenger" and "Hexagram" with Chino Moreno, as well as "Battery" with Metallica, System of a Down and Children of Bodom, on November 19-20, 2009. On the 2011 Deftones/Dillinger Escape Plan North American tour, he performed "Passenger" again most nights. Puciato and Andrew Kline of Strife were invited by Cavalera Conspiracy in Los Angeles on May 4, 2015 for a cover of "Pay to Cum" by the Bad Brains.

Puciato wrote the foreword to Jesse Draxler's Misophonia, a visual arts book published in June 2018.

Separate the Dawn, a book of poetry and photography published by Federal Prisoner on February 12, 2019. The book was produced during Dillinger Escape Plan's last tour and its unveiling date in Poland, where a car collided with the band's tour bus near the town of Radomsko, Poland. The members were not seriously injured, but they did "narrowly recover"; the incident had a major psychological effect in Puciato. Separate the Dawn's first 1000 hardcover copies were followed by a second pressing of 200, with each selling out in less than four days.

Puciato, together with former Dillinger drummer Gil Sharone and film composer Tyler Bates, joined Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains for two complete shows of Alice In Chains songs and Jerry Cantrell solo performances on December 6, 2019, a 19th birthday. The sold-out concerts were Cantrell's first solo performances since 2004. The Cantrell crew, as well as bassist George Adrian, will tour North America and Europe in 2022.
