Michael Kiske Life

Michael Kiske (born January 24, 1968) is a German singer best known as the lead singer for the German power metal band Helloween.

Kiske's first solo albums since being out of the band for four years, including Avantasia, Place Vendome, and Kiske/Somerville, although he appeared with various metal and rock related shows, including Avantasia, Place Vendome and Kiske/Somerville, although he appeared in numerous bands as a guest vocalist.

After 17 years of absence, he formed the Unisonic hard rock / heavy metal band in late 2009 and began touring again.

Kiske debuted in October 2016 in Helloween and Kai Hansen as part of the Pumpkins United World Tour, which continued throughout 2017 and 2018.

In 2019, a live recording of the Helloween tour named United Alive and United Alive in Madrid was released, and in 2020, Kiske and Hansen's debut is planned for a new Helloween album.

Early life

Kiske performed with the German band Ill Prophecy at the age of 17. The band recorded a demo, but it was never released commercially.

In an interview in 2021, Kiske said that his father died by alcohol. Michael himself didn't drink alcohol for many years, but in 2021, he said he could enjoy a glass of red wine while working. He has a younger sister and an older brother.

In an interview in 2013, Kiske said, "I'm really sensitive and I take betrayal seriously." I don't want to sound stupid, but I think I'm a good friend. If I call someone a friend, he's my friend, and it stays that way, and I don't betray. I have never betrayed my wife or my child. Later on, she betrayed me."

"I guess I'm pretty locked myself up and was basically just living in books for a long time after the break with Helloween." I spent years being like spiritual. I'm just being, learning, and trying to figure out life. The musician's life is often dull. Everybody loves a big party, so the years after Helloween was the complete opposite of that. I didn't have much going on outside, but everything happened on the inside."

Kiske was invited to join the German power metal band Helloween, fronted by singer/guitarist Kai Hansen at the age of eighteen. Hansen had some issues with being both the lead guitarist and lead vocalist, so it was decided that a new vocalist would be needed. Kiske turned down Helloween's first bid because he disliked the band's Walls of Jericho album's sound, but he accepted the second and joined Helloween in late 1986. Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part I of the band's collection of Helloween's best albums and a turning point in the power metal movement's development. Helloween went on to produce Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II in 1988, which went gold in Germany and brought even more success than its predecessor. The Keeper of the Seven Keys albums proved to be extremely influential and contributed to the formation of a new generation of European power metal bands, including Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, HammerFall, and Ed Gard. Due to the album's global success, the band was able to embark on a long world tour and appear at legendary festivals like Monsters of Rock.

After the completion of the band's 1988 headlining tour, the album Live in the United Kingdom was released, but Kai Hansen left the band and was replaced by guitarist Roland Grapow.

Helloween's first material was not released until 1991's Pink Bubbles Go Ape, which was followed by 1993's Chameleon, due to legal issues with their record company. The band departed from their power metal roots and tried out new sounds on these two albums. Both Pink Bubbles Go Ape and Chameleon were commercial failures, resulting in Kiske leaving Helloween. Kiske was fired from the band in 1993, presumably for personal reasons. Andi Deris, a Pink Cream 69's Andi Deris, who has been with Helloween ever since, was promoted.

Kiske said in an interview 2018:

"For a long time, this was simply impossible for me because I was ill and bloated, and I didn't want to have anything to do with it." I didn't want to do with the metal scene for a long time. It went very deep. But things changed dramatically in the last two years before the reunion, without me knowing it, and I realized that it was different when I ran into Michael Weikath. It was a festival and I happened to be standing in front of him and he said something like, 'Michael, what have I done wrong that you can't forgive?' I thought it was a fantastic line.'

Then I just said, 'You know what?

I believe I have sincerely forgiven you a long time ago.' That was just how I felt. There was no fear — I was totally relaxed."

Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen were among those on a reunion tour that would take place in 2017 and 2018. The Pumpkins United World Tour began in South America in October 2017 and then rolled into Europe with concerts lasting nearly three hours. The single Pumpkins United, which featured the reunited line-up, was announced on December 8, 2017. In general, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, and Europe, as well as North America, Canada, and Latin America, the reunion tour continued in Japan, Russia, Ukraine, and Europe. The Pumpkins United World Tour was the most successful one in the band's history, with 69 shows and 14 months. On October 4, 2019, a live DVD/Blu-ray called United Alive and the live album United Alive in Madrid were released.

In September 2019, the band, which began at Rockfest (Sao Paulo), and ended with a appearance at the Rock In Rio Festival.

On June 18, 2021, Kiske and Hansen's new album was published. In several international music charts, the self-titled album ranked in top ten positions.

Kiske's first solo album, Instant Clarity, was released on August 16, 1996, three years since leaving Helloween. The collection included guest appearances by Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden, Kai Hansen, and Ciriaco Taraxes, as well as songs in a variety of styles. In New York City, a music video for the ballad "Always," dedicated to the late Helloween drummer Ingo Schwichtenberg, was shot and produced.

Kunst Und Materialismus, a book written in English, refers to the same period as Art and Materialism. Unfortunately, this product is only available in German. "I wrote this book for myself first of all." First, I had to gather and describe myself. This was a good personality enhancement tale. A few thousand dollars later, I published a few thousand copies of self-publishing. It's been very difficult to translate as I have quot from thinkers from Germany's good old days.

Readiness to Sacrifice, his second solo album on the Victor Label, was first released in Japan on the Victor Label in April 1999 and later reissued in Europe by Noise Records. Kiske's music on the album was very different from his heavy metal roots to a smoother AOR sound. Kiske also performed on two symphonic orchestral songs with The Bremer Weser Quartett on strings.

"I was insecure about myself before I left Helloween," Kiske said in 2003. The situation with Helloween caused such a personal crisis within me that I needed those albums to rediscover myself. I was dissatisfied with everything and everybody. I was furious at some people, but not so much of the metal industry.

Kiske formed SupaRed, a band of studio musicians, in 2003, out of a desire to make rock music again. On Noise Records, they released a self-titled album in January 2003. This album had a modern rock sound and a song structure, distinctly from his solo albums and Helloween's heavy metal sound. The project was under promoted, ineffective, and Kiske dissolved the band due to personal reasons. In an interview, he said, "It didn't work."

Kiske's third full-length solo album under the name of Kiske was released in 2006. The Italian Frontiers Records' first solo album was released. The album featured songs in a mellow, acoustic singer-songwriter style, and was a step away from his previous solo albums' sounds. "It's a healthy-careless and musically free album," Kiske says. "I'm very proud of this record because it is a direct statement from myself." In 2006, Instant Clarity was reissued with the addition of four newly released bonus tracks.

"That was the best I could do in those days," Kiske said in 2013. Those years after Helloween were seen as a learning process. And making records that no one was concerned about, I was learning so much. And during the process of recording, mastering, mixing, you learn so much. I don't want to miss it. "There have been some good tunes on the radio as well."

Kiske's fourth solo show, titled Past in Different Ways, was released in 2008. The collection featured acoustic re-arrangements of his old Helloween songs as well as one new song. According to Kiske, "on one hand shows that I don't reject my past simply because I'm a different person today." On the other hand, it might have given people who were not in that period a new look at those songs.

In a ten-year interview with Spanish Metal Journal, Kiske said he was recording a new acoustic solo album. The album will feature new songs as well as various cover versions.

Tobias Sammet (vocalist of the band Ed Edwin) asked Kiske to attend the rock opera festival Avantasia in 2000. In the role of Lugaid Valiant Vayya, Kiske committed to perform on the project, but only under the name Ernie. The nickname appeared on the back of the first Avantasia film, The Metal Opera, but not on the sequel, The Metal Opera Part II, where he was shown under his real name. In interviews, Kiske said that he did not want people to associate him with heavy metal anymore. He was instrumental in the creation of the Metal Opera albums and appeared on "Meat Away," "Breaking Away," "The Tower," "The Seven Angels," and "No Return."

During 2007, he produced guest vocals for two Avantasia albums, "Promised Land" and "Lost in Space [Extended Version], both of which appeared on the Lost in Space Part I & II compilation album ("Promised Land" was also included on the EP Lost in Space Part II).

Kiske performed lead on the track "Shelter From The Rain" and back on the title track and "What Kind of Love" on Avantasia in 2008.

Kiske appeared on Avantasia's "Wastelands," "Runaway Train" and "Stargazers" during 2010. He appeared on "The Metal Opera Comes to Town Tour" from November to December, alongside Tobias Sammet, Kai Hansen, Jrn Lande, Bob Catley, Amanda Somerville, Sascha Paeth, and Oliver Hartmann.

Kiske appeared at the Wacken Open Air Festival on August 6, 2011.

Kiske appeared on "Where Clock Hands Freeze," "Savior in the Clockwork," and "Dweller in a Dream" on Avantasia's "Mystery of Time" during 2013. He appeared on "The Mysterious World Tour" from April to August, which featured ten European festival appearances and three-hour long shows in South America, Japan, Russia, and Europe.

Michael performed with Avantasia at the Wacken Open Air festival on August 2, 2014.

Kiske appeared on the songs "Ghostlights," "Unchain The Light," and "Wake Up To The Moon" on Avantasia's album Ghostlights in 2016. He appeared on the most popular Avantasia tour, "Ghostlights World Tour," which featured more than 40 concerts in Europe, North America, South America, Japan, Russia, and Scandinavia between March and August of the same year.

Michael appeared on the album "Requiem For A Dream" during 2019.

Kiske participated in the Place Vendome project on Frontiers Records in 2005. Dennis Ward (bass and production), Kosta Zafiriou (drums), and Uwe Reitenauer (guitars) from the German band Pink Cream 69, Gunther Werno (keyboards) from Vanden Plas and Kiske on vocals. Place Vendome, the project's debut album, was a tribute to bands such as Foreigner or Journey's sound, and the majority of the songwriting was done by Dennis Ward.

Streets of Fire, the Place Vendome project's second album, was released in 2009. Michael's return to form since 1996 was captured in a video for the song "My Guardian Angel." Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear), Torsti Spoof (Leverage), Ronny Milianowicz (Saint Deamon) and Robert Sall (Work of Art), and Magnus Karlsson (Work of Art).

Personal life

In an interview 2021, Kiske said that his father died from alcohol abuse. Michael himself didn't drink alcohol for many years, but he did enjoy a glass of red wine when he was working in 2021. He has a younger sister and an older brother.

"I'm extremely sensitive and I take betrayal very seriously," Kiske said in a 2013 interview. I don't want to sound stupid, but I think I'm a good friend. If I call someone a friend, he's my friend and it stays that way, and I don't betray. I've never betrayed my wife or my child. "She betrayed me later on."

"I kind of locked myself up and was basically living in books for a long time after Helloween's break up." I had some amazing years as a spiritual person. Just being, learning, and trying to figure out life. The musician's life is often superficial. Helloween was the complete opposite of that, so the years after that were the exact opposite of that. While there was no activity on the outside, everything happened on the inside."

Kiske was invited to join the German power metal band Helloween, fronted by singer/guitarist Kai Hansen at the age of eighteen. Hansen had some issues as both lead guitarist and lead vocalist, and it was decided that a new vocalist would be needed. Kiske turned down Helloween's first invitation because he disliked the sound of the band's Walls of Jericho album, but the band accepted the second and joined Helloween in late 1986. Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part I of the Keeper of the Seven Keys (1987), one of Helloween's finest albums and a landmark in the development of the power metal style, was Kiske's first album with the band. Helloween went on to produce Keeper of the Seven Keys Part II in 1988, which went gold in Germany and had even more success than its predecessor. The Keeper of the Seven Keys albums proved to be extremely popular and assisted in the formation of a new wave of European power metal bands, including Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, HammerFall, and Edible. Due to the band's worldwide success, the band was able to embark on a lengthy world tour and appear at legendary festivals such as Monsters of Rock.

The album Live in the United Kingdom was released following Kai Hansen's departure from the band and was replaced by guitarist Roland Grapow.

Helloween was refused to release new information until 1991's Pink Bubbles Go Ape, which was followed by 1993's Chameleon. The band departed from their power metal roots and tried out new sounds on these two albums, with the band shifting to more experimental sounds. Both Pink Bubbles Go Ape and Chameleon were commercial failures, resulting in Kiske's departure from Helloween. Kiske was kicked out of the band in 1993, apparently for personal reasons. Andi Deris, a Pink Cream 69 man, was replaced by Andi Deris, who has remained with Helloween ever since.

Kiske said in an interview 2018:

"For a long time, this was absolutely impossible for me because I was sick and angry, and I didn't want to do anything to do with it." I didn't want to do with the metal scene for a long time. It went very deep. But, life changed a little bit in the last two years before the reunion, without me being aware, and I realized it was different when I first ran into Michael Weikath. It was a festival, and I was standing in front of him and he said, 'Michael, what have I done wrong that you can't forgive me?' ', which I thought was a good line.'

Then I just said, 'You know what?

I believe I should have forgiven you a long time ago.' That was just how I felt. There was no anger — I was completely relaxed."

Michael Kiske, along with Kai Hansen, was confirmed in 2016 that they would travel together to Helloween for a reunion tour that would take place between 2017 and 2018. The Pumpkins United World Tour began in South America in October 2017 and continued in Europe, with concerts lasting close to three hours. The single Pumpkins United, which had reunited line-ups, was announced on December 8, 2017. In general, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, and Europe, as well as North America, Canada, and Latin America, the reunion tour continued in Japan, Russia, Ukraine, and Europe in general. The Pumpkins United World Tour was the biggest one in the band's history, with 69 shows and 14 months. On October 4, 2019, a live DVD/Blu-ray called United Alive and the live album United Alive in Madrid were released.

The band began performing at the Rock In Rio Festival in September and concluded with a Brazilian tour.

On June 18, 2021, Kiske and Hansen's new album was released. Many international music charts have ranked the self-titled album at number ten.

Kiske's first solo album, Instant Clarity, was released on August 16, 1996, three years after leaving Helloween. The collection featured guest appearances by Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden, Kai Hansen, and Ciriaco Taraxes, as well as songs in a variety of styles. Kiske formed SupaRed in 2003, out of a desire to make rock music resurfaced, and a desire to make rock music again. Noise Records' January 2003 collection of a self-titled album. Kiske's third full-length solo album under the name of Kiske was released in 2006. The Italian Frontiers Records' first solo album was released. The album featured songs in a mellow, acoustic singer-songwriter style, and was a step away from his previous solo albums' sound. "It's a healthy-careless, musically free album," Kiske says. This record is particularly proud because it is a direct declaration by myself. In 2006, Instant Clarity was reissued with the addition of four new recorded bonus tracks.

"That was the best I could do in those days," Kiske said in 2013. I see those years after Helloween as a learning process. I was learning so much, even making records that no one was concerned about. In 2008, Kiske unveiled Past in Different Ways, his fourth solo work. The collection featured acoustic re-arrangements of his old Helloween songs as well as one new one. According to Kiske, "on one hand shows that I don't reject my history simply because I'm a different person today," and that, on the other hand, it might have given people who were not part of the past a different view of those songs."

In a discussion with Spanish Metal Journal in May 20, Kiske revealed that he was recording a new acoustic solo album. The album will feature new songs as well as several cover versions.

Tobias Sammet (vocalist of Ed Edgy) begged Kiske to participate in the rock opera festival Avantasia in 2000. Kiske agreed to participate in the role of Lugaid Vainy, but only under the name Ernie. The name was printed on the back of the first Avantasia publication, The Metal Opera, but not on the sequel, The Metal Opera Part II, where he was depicted under his real name. In interviews, Kiske said that at that time, he did not want him to be tied to heavy metal anymore. He was instrumental in the conception of the Metal Opera albums and appeared on "Reach Out for the Light," "Breaking Away," "Avantasia," "The Seven Angels" and "No Return."
