Shawn Emile Stipich (born July 21, 1970) is a Canadian-American chiropractor, motivational speaker and retired professional wrestler.

He is best known for his appearances with the professional wrestling promotions the World Wrestling Federation/World Wrestling Entertainment and World Championship Wrestling in the late 1990 and early 2000s under the ring names Shawn Stasiak and Meat.

Championships held by Stasiak over the course of his career include the WCW World Tag Team Championship and WWF Hardcore Championship.

Stasiak is the son of former WWWF Champion Stan Stasiak.

Early life

Though born in Hayward, California, much of the early years of Stasiak's life were spent on the road, traveling from territory to territory with his dad, before the family eventually returned to Canada and settled in Oakville, Ontario, near Toronto. He attended White Oaks Secondary School, where he wrestled in Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations events. After graduating, he attended Boise State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in communications. During his studies, Stipich made it to second place in the Pacific-10 Conference in two consecutive years.

Personal life

Stipich is the son of former WWF Champion Stan Stasiak. During his early childhood, Stipich travelled with his father as he wrestled in various territories, and met the likes of the legends of today André the Giant and Jesse "The Body" Ventura during this time.

Shawn Stasiak Career

Professional wrestling career

Stipich began wrestling under Dory Funk Jr., making his debut in 1996 under the ring name "Shawn Stasiak" for the Vancouver-based independent promotion Pacific Coast Championship Wrestling.

Stipich sent the World Wrestling Federation a tape containing vignettes in 1996, with one of the segments involving him dressed up as a Halloween character and instructing children on how to trick-or-treat safely. The character's origin tale was based on a nest of spiders that lived under his bed. The WWF allowed him to have a tryout match in October 1997 after reviewing the tape. Stipich was then signed to a developmental contract in January 1998, and he began training with Tom Prichard of Memphis, Tennessee, where he stayed until he was called up to the WWF in 1999. With PowerPro, Jerry Lawler and his real life wife, Stacy "The Kat" Carter, were one of the subjects he was interested in. Stasiak won the services of Stacy for two weeks by defeating Jerry Lawler in a match. They then begin a relationship, and he introduces Stacy to his "sister" (storyline). He takes Stacy from his "mother," Mae Young, next week. This is the start of a series of different matches between Stasiak, Lawler, Mae Young, and Stacy.

On the 19th episode of Sunday Night Heat as Meat, he made his WWF debut by criticizing Tiger Ali Singh. He soon became the Pretty Mean Sisters' "boy-toy" storyline (Terri Runnels, Jacqueline, and Ryan Shamrock), but Shamrock left the organization a few months later. Meat won a few months over the likes of Droz, Brian Christopher, and The Blue Meanie. However, he would be promoted to a position as a result of on-air explanations, and it would soon be relegated to that of a jobber. This culminated in Jacqueline leaving Meat and Terri by themselves.

Terrine's nemesis, Marianna, was only alive for a few months before he died from Terri after Terri, Terri, Terri's Terri, saw Meat kissing Titantron's Terri. Meat was assaulted by her and Chaz, who then charged her with assault. Stipich dropped the Meat name and began to compete under Shawn Stasiak's name in the next two weeks. Stasiak was defeated by Kurt Angle, the first on Survivor Series.

Stasiak was suspended in December 1999 after recording a tense discussion between Davey Boy Smith and Steve Blackman without their knowledge. Despite the fact that Stasiak said that this was done as a joke, he was dismissed nonetheless.

Stasiak was signed by World Championship Wrestling in early 2000 after being on the independent circuit. Curt Hennig was on his first appearance on WCW's Power Plant wrestling school with Paul Orndorff on April 10, 2000. He later joined the New Blood and began feuding with Hennig. He was soon given nicknames like "The Perfect One" and later "Perfect" Shawn Stasiak, the latter of which was a parody of Hennig's "Mr." "Imitable" is the perfect description. Stasiak won two games over Hennig, one of which was Stasiak's WCW pay-per-view debut on May 7, 2000 at Slamboree. Hennig was immediately impressed with Stasiak and briefly coached him before Hennig's WCW deal came to an end in June 2000.

Stasiak formed the Perfect Event with Chuck Palumbo in late May, and the team soon won the World Tag Team Championship after defeating KroniK (Brian Adams and Bryan Clark). They began feuding with KroniK over the title after winning the title. The Perfect Event helped shape The Natural Born Thrillers alongside Mike Sanders, Sean O'Haire, Mark Jindrak, Johnny the Bull, and Reno, although Kevin Nash briefly "coached" them in August.

Stasiak and Palumbo would win the World Tag Team Championship two more times before splitting in early January 2001 when Stasiak and Palumbo defeated O'Haire and Jindrak in a tag team war royal battle royal. Both teams were deemedable, with one member from each squad expected to join forces and get a tag team championship shot against The Insiders. Palumbo began working with O'Haire and became the World Tag Team Champions, beating the Insiders and becoming the World Tag Team Champions, while Stasiak and Jindrak began working together. When Stasiak and Jindrak became jealous of Palumbo and O'Haire in February 2001, the Natural Born Thrillers broke up. On February 18, 2001, the two teams met at Revenge for the World Tag Team Championship, but Palumbo and O'Haire stayed.

Stasiak acquired Miss Hancock's services as his valet in March 2001, earning the nickname "The Mecca of Manhood" in the process. He had also been portrayed as the alleged father of Hancock's baby, which turned out to be a stack of 8x10 cameras in a stroller. Stasiak, a heel, took photographs of himself before presenting the photographs to fans as a way to show off his figure. While with Miss Hancock, he also started a brief rivalry with Bam Bam Bigelow. The feud came to an end on the last episode of Nitro, on March 26, 2001, when Stasiak defeated Bigelow in a tattoo contest. Following this, the World Wrestling Federation acquired WCW, and the bulk of the talent contracts, including Stasiak's, were approved.

After the WWF bought WCW, Stasiak returned to the WWF in July 2001 as part of the alliance. Stasiak won at InVasion, beating Billy Gunn and Albert. He was given the appearance of being clumsy throughout August while attempting to impress Stone Cold Steve Austin, the Alliance's leader. Anytime he tried to harm major WWF celebrities, such as The Rock or Kurt Angle, he'd run into a wall, statue, milk truck, or even skip and trip over his boots. Stasiak briefly partnered with Stacy Keibler in late August, but she resigned as his valet in late September to lead the Dudley Boyz. He was hospitalized shortly after and was out of action until late October.

When Team WWF defeated Team Alliance, the team's chief, Stasiak, lost his position along with all of the Alliance members on November 18. The Alliance members had been doing house shows and dark matches for a while, but not before being called up to the main active roster. However, Stasiak was hurt in late November and needed surgery on his knee to repair his damaged bursa sac. On January 1, 2002, he was able to wrestle again. Stasiak was sent by the Heartland Wrestling Association in February 2002 for preparation and to work off ring rust.

Stasiak was later promoted to the Raw brand in late-March 2002 and saw his return to the Raw brand on Sunday Night Heat defeating Tommy Dreamer and the following week on Sunday Night Heat Stasiak was defeated by Goldust.

Stasiak appeared on the show "Japan" on April 15, 2002, with a new cast member who heard voices in his head, joked to himself with rhymes, and appeared bizarrely bizarre. Big Show defeated Stasiak on the same night. Until Stephen Richards, Justin Credible, Bradshaw, and Tommy Dreamer, the Stasiak traded the Hardcore Championship several times before he decided to return to pursue other business ventures on September 27, 2002.

Chiropractic career

Stipich stopped wrestling and became a chiropractor after being released. He now works with the Texas Medical team, as a chiropractor. He earned a certificate in manipulation under anesthesia from the Academy of Physical and Manual Medicine in New York in 2007. Stipich also works as a motivational speaker and uses the Fobia persona he created while in college for his child-friendly conversations.
